No, I still find anime very enjoyable now, and I actually watch a lot more anime compared to before.

"how often you are a victim of "RECENCY BIAS" ?"

Happens to me every season. Because I'm so used to the formulaic seasonals, any show that does slightly remotely different with some emotions that I can attach to I would give a generous score.

I still enjoy anime a lot, but I definitely do not follow mal scoring. I been enjoying boruto more than most seasonals recently. Shangri la frontier is still goated though.

I am still doing well, even after watching anime for many years.
I need somebody who can love me at my worst
No, I'm not perfect, but I hope you see my worth
'Cause it's only you, nobody new, I put you first
And for you, girl, I swear I'll do the worst

If you stay forever, let me hold your hand
I can fill those places in your heart no else can
Let me show you love, oh, I don't pretend, yeah
I'll be right here, baby, you know I'll sink or swim

I totally get you and I can relate.
I think that in my case it's simply caused by the change of lifestyle.
As a teenager it was easy to binge watch anime and consume big amounts of media.
Sadly, since I have to work and study in uni at the same time, my anime sessions overlap with increased number of responsibilities.
That might explain why anime is no longer THAT enjoyable.
Tell me if that sounds probable to you too.
Also i'm not sure how to understand the recency bias in this context.

old anime: perfectly enjoyable.
new anime: poorly drawn, low on animation
same archetypes, plot points, friendship power, 0 ending
but we get less violence, gore and lewd scenes. characters no longer try to get laid, they are neutered.
they don't want to change anything, they're fine with the system and just want to get along, they love peace and quiet.
(aot is an exception, and that one started 10 years ago)

Since the starting stretch where I watched so much in only 6 months, it's been 6 years, and I've slowed down considerably. There's a bit of anime fatigue that comes, and goes, and the seasonal anime are different than the classics, so it's not all novelty wearing down.

consuming anime isn't a hobby and people should only watch things that actually align with their tastes or show them something new

if you watch every new $3 budget fantasy ripoff that will be forgotten the week after it premiers, yes, you'll get burned out.

Idk pal I still enjoy them.

Old anime were [some of them] not that much enjoyable, with stretch out action which could be less quicker and dialogues pacing is too slow.
While with new one, even they might correct the old stuff they create other problems, such as specific angles and frames to make a censorship without "being noticed" [more darker scene when a gore stuff happens, special angle so you don't actually see the wound etc.]

Thankfully I haven't read/memorised that much of Greek/Roman/Middle-East ancient stories/tales/myths cause 99% of fictional works wouldn't be original anymore

This is why trashy anime is actually a good thing. It helps with the monotony.

Enjoying since the first day I started watching actively. When I get tired, a break from it can mean a lot, 10 days - 2 months, it doesn't' matter, as long as you need to start enjoying it again. When you're tired of something new, re-watch of favs shows can also be an option.

Yes and no. I still very much enjoy anime but as I'm much older now I can't just it down and watch what I want. I need to be picky as there are so many anime and not enough time (in the day. In life) to watch them all.

I don't usually watch as many anime as I did a few years ago, I think this is something that can be quite common for anyone who is approaching or is already in adulthood. New responsibilities arise that end up draining you of your time. Even though I don't watch that many anime a day, I still follow the culture.and I'm up to date with some upcoming news.

Yes. When you've watched 100s of anime, you can see the pattern of the story. Also, at first I kinda like the trashy kinda shows. But now I've seen enough of this to find them cringe worthy.
Although this doesn't mean I don't enjoy anime anymore but finding the good ones are the hard thing.

The opposite for me, though I’ve only been around since January this year and still have a lot of anime to see and enjoy or not enjoy. Maybe it’ll be a problem in the future, but right now I’m having plenty of fun and excitement when it comes to anime.

I’ve been watching less anime and have become a lot pickier over my consumption of it. Not watching anime for the sake of watching anime as well as ignoring the hype and hatedom has made my anime journey so much better now. Now I only check out a show if I’m genuinely interested in it.

No, unless its long running weekly anime that has lots of filler episodes.
I do find it harder to find time to watch anime though and also because I get too lazy at times to watch any.

Nah, I still enjoy it as much as when I started. Just have less time being an adult with work and stuff in my house that needs to happen. But anime is still one of my main forms of entertainment.

But after all these years I still keep finding stuff that interests me.

I still enjoy anime. There was a time when I didn't watch for several months because I was gaming instead but I still find anime enjoyable.

I don't take things too seriously so that helps with enjoying several stuff in life.

Same here, even when I'm binging seasonal shows or completed ones (old and new). I simply try to enjoy it for what it is most of the time and whenever I have free time or in the mood.

I don't really care about cliches anymore. As long as something is done relatively well and isn't boring I will like (see Lycoris Recoil). I've started to prefer old anime to new anime too, so obviously no recency bias.

It's not really like before where I watch anime with sparkling eyes because I was still discovering unknown territories, today it's more that anime is etched into my identity that it's more like eating and drinking- like each anime is a different or similar dish and each of them has its varying or subtle taste difference. Some days you are "hungry" thus, you enjoy some shows more that aren't really extremely jaw-dropping or beautifully unconventional. Just to clarify though, that even though it's routineus, it's not boringly mechanical.

Somewhat. Apart from other priorities and commitments, I believe I'm feeling rather burned out with anime, particularly the newer ones. I'm having a difficult time getting myself investment into the stories and characters. Strangely, I don't feel that way for older anime (1976 to 2008).

I think if I only watched the same type of anime I might, but because I tend to avoid the majority of shonen or isekai, I tend to find more enjoyment. Some of my recent favorites are Oddtaxi and Ranking of Kings. Some of my older favorites are Monster, BECK, and Baccano. I still watch shonen but I vary things up. Formulas exist in all forms of writing without frequent variation. I stopped reading fantasy novels because they tend to tell the same stories because their writers were inspired by the same stories. The ones that vary like Gaiman and Jemisin are rare in comparison.

You should watch things to enjoy them. If something is becoming hard to watch that is a sign you should take a break for a while and come back when you're ready. If even then it is hard to watch still it's probably that you just don't like new anime, but considering there are so many anime out there, there probably is still something out there you would enjoy :)

I am currently in a slump; haven't found a good show in 2 years. Not sure if it's just a fluke or I'm getting old... or maybe the recent years really have been worse than usual.

Either way, I only watch anime to supplement my Japanese study (before anyone comes at me telling it's not a good way to study Japanese or learn how to speak - I fully agree. I've already studied Japanese formally in college and then lived for 3 years in Tokyo, so I'm only using anime for listening comprehension) so I've been phasing out my anime time for other stuff.

Nope, I'm enjoying Anime much more than when I started it, and I watch much more now than before. Some people do the opposite.
