Man, this plan just gets more and more complicated to help Matlida. I do like the motivation of these spies though. On the other hand, Matlida also has a bit of a disturbing personality.

I have to say though, this episode made it interesting for the spies to use their resources and what they've learned from the past. A team effort too...that's what I call trust.

The blonde military officer dude, i kinda can tell why he has such an unruly attitude towards Klaus, you see if i was surrounded by smelly dudes all day, and my "colleague" was surrounded by busty anime girls instead ... i'll be pissed too.

Not exactly as expected, but still, the purple hair chick mom is indeed as crazy as they get, her silver haired spy partner is also here, whoever he is (I thought all the evil spies are all girls too ?). Anyway, i guess that the "mom arc" is now done ?

Also "keep it in your pants" ... as telling it to a woman, who subbed that ? LOL.

19:07 Scary Annette. I like it.
I feel like having Matilda starve to death in the container would've been more satisfying lol. Though the person who would've eventually opened that container probably would've been traumatized so I guess this is better. (And I'm questioning the grammatical correctness of this sentence)

Thats some damm creative usage for piano wire for sure. Looks like someone was wiping out all traces of their ID. Matilda though sure had quite the creepy side to her. Sounds like she wasn't exactly the caring mother that she claimed. Curious that musroom head was also the one that saw the team's op back then. Monika's dodging of those shots was damm impressive. In the end im glad that Klaus and Lily was able to find the team without incident. Glad that Annette was able to see what kind of a monster he mom was too and dealt with her. Have to say its poetic having Annette be the one that buried the true monster.

The arc comes to an end, and I have to say, it was pretty decent. There were some issues here and there but out of everything so far in this series, this arc has been the most enjoyable so far, finally some actual "spy" missions with some twists. Annette is scarier than she looks that's for sure. In the end though, I will say that the cast has it a bit too easy in these missions, the villains aren't that compelling to watch. Hope the next arc keeps up the momentum that this one built up.

Both Klaus's squad and the Chosen squad moves out at their own pace, though the latter is to catch Matilda and the other, defending her.

Despite Welter's qualms about the Imperial spies, Kalus has figured out the game plan for the Chosen squad, though Matilda is just playing with them until she strikes the bar. Thea and the others helping Matilda escape on a ship to Lylat Kingdom, which then she can find her way out to the Galgad Empire on her own, it's a cat-and-mouse chase. Erna indeed sensed something amiss, and turns out, Kalus sensed that same exact criminal of Serpent, and in more ways than one, Lamplight are working together sub-consciously on their own objectives. Thea sensed something wrong about Matilda, and her two-faced façade puts her skills above the girls, though it's too late to change the game now. And Serpent, knowing that he can't beat Kalus, a truce is set for now to save innocent civilians. With Annette giving her self-made toolbox to Thea, there is nothing that could be done.

As if Matilda's existence in Annette's life meant anything, the rigged toolbox is one thing, though Klaus managed to round up the girls of the Chosen squad, one by one. And indeed, Annette smells Matilda's bluff from the very beginning, though that gruelsome murder scene would reveal Lamplight in a bad light, but Annette leaves no stone unturned and made sure that Matilda ate her own karma through the abuse she's had for years.

Annette the Forgetter, she really forgets things, though intentional, that is her weapon.

her mother really was twisted to the very end.

she admitted to beating her adopted daughter in the head so bad with the toolbox that she would have amnesia and planned to blow her up with the bomb?

yeah I'm glad she died. truly a wicked woman with no redemption

This episode was a pretty good adaptation for the finale of volume 3.

They did a good job with Matilda and the plot twist, also introducing White Spider.
I hope they do the next arc justice as well.

so annette knew all along what matilda was up to and played along with her game to execute an assassination without any of the other girls knowing. but monika of course figured out what was going on, which i assume is why she agreed to go along with the plan in the first place.

the scene of the mushroom headed dude being terrified and running away from klaus was funny.

i wonder who the next case will be about. im hoping monika. i really want to know more about her

Well, it wasn't all of them, but just as I thought, it was indeed revealed in the end that at least someone was a few steps ahead of her, and to her misfortune, it was the one who mattered the most.

This episode went crazy imo. The last few moments change my view on annete a lot.

Before this episode grete was my favourite and annete my least favourite. But while grete still remains my favourite I’ve come to appreciate annete more after seeing how ruthless she actually is.

Curious what the rest of the season will have. Hope to see the rest of the girls back again soon.

They’re really nailing all the high points of this season very well. Matilda’s betrayal and Annette’s subsequent reverse uno gave me chills when reading it and I think anime onlies will have had the same experience here. I remember finding out what she had done to Annette and just wanting her to suffer the most painful fate imaginable.

Unfortunately her death is actually pretty quick and painless. Knowing she got outsmarted by her “foolish” adopted daughter and starving to death while clawing at the inside of the shipping container would’ve been much better. But meh. It is what it is. This arc did make me a huge Annette fan. Still got Thea and Grete/Monika as top 1 and 2 tho.

Hopefully they deliver with the next arc as well. If they’d given season 1 this level of attention to detail and quality Spyroom would’ve been way more popular.

Well, atleast the twist this time around was something we didn't see coming from atleast a light year away.

For starters, these girls are spy, so them getting fooled from a cliche sob story is kind of embarrassing in itself. Though in hindsight it was only the boob girl, never mind that blonde loli.. I mean she does whatever someone tells her to do so she doesn't count, but still atleast have your doubts lol, and DO TRY whatever is possible when you know you messed up... I mean boob girl still didn't do anything when traitor mother revealed her true colours.

Anyways, fine conclusion.

Welp, I take back what I said last episode, this was a fantastic conclusion to this arc, and Annette just shot up to the top of my fav character list for this show. Last season was kind of a mess, and felt it was the biggest disappointment of the winter season, but this arc has restored my faith that this can be a great series. Looking forward to more for the first time in a while.

Confirmed Monika is awesome. Anette is even awesomer
I predicted the way it would go but thought the ship would have set sail first. Also thought Anette's teapot looking thing she built was going to be the gift to Matilda rather than it being the toolbox again- but it didn't matter! This episode ENDS WITH A BANG!
Klaus is right Anette is incredibly ruthless. Which is exactly what he needs on his spy team. Thea on the other hand... when he stepped up behind her on the train I was hoping just to hear 3 or 4 popping sounds and that be the end, but you can't always get what you want. I don't like how he basically seems to forgive her, which is truly unlike him. Then again, it's unlike him to tell someone directly how he feels. He'll have a close eye on the traitor from now on.
That mushroom head dude made a dumb mistake by using the same hidey hole twice. Klaus knew exactly where to look. I wish that guy coulda bought it too. Why did he threaten to take out civilians first and not tell him about the bomb til after he doubted him? If the bomb really was there- it didn't make sense to set up a two layer bluff...

Nah I saw that twist coming, or at least figured out the end result and how they got there did not matter.
But it's not correct that the spy girls all fell for Matilda's story. Monika obviously never believed a word of it; Erna smelled trouble right away but her ability doesn't seem to work well until the danger is just about to happen; and Anette's cheerful bubbly expression towards Matilda was the act. It was Thea who fell for Anette's acting, thinking she was excited to see her mother. Thea's ability is problematic because it peers into people's hearts, which is a terrible way to make decisions because human emotions are often irrational; she can determine intent only if the person she's looking at knows their own intents....  She failed to read Anette, and that was the wildcard that led to all their stupid attempt to siding with Matilda.
In fact I think this could be the only reason Klaus forgave Thea for her obvious treachery- if he knows her ability relies on others emotions, then he knows that can easily lead to a mistake.
But this show and its characters seem far more witty than packaging would have you believe, which is one of the reasons I like it so much. I only ever watched it to have some CGDCT fun, but it's pretty intelligent imo

This series keeps getting better and better. I did not notice Annette's ruthlessness until she told Klaus her plan at the end, and to hear what her "mom" did to her made me feel bad for what she went through.

Annette does see Thea more as a mom than Matilda so there's that but Thea being tricked... like Klaus said she can redeem herself in the next mission which I'm looking forward to.

Love how Monika got to show off her skills in this episode, she even figured out what Annett's true nature is! She really is living up to her title as the strongest among the girls :D

I could easily say that this episode is one of the best in all of this anime, Annette was another clear example of "judge the book by its cover" xd.

Finally, a plot twist that I didn't expect and it's good, will the quality of the anime increase from now on? I hope so.

Way better than first season, seems like at leat Annette is capable of detecting threats, unlike the rest of the girls.

Thea seems like has learnt nothing from this, still the bottom of the barrel, can't understand how this four were the stronger team.

Anette and her mom were quite alike after all...

Great end to a great arc. Even Klaus was much better than in the first season!
And it was nice to see Anette get the spotlight in the end. Due to her mysterious, crazy personality, it was a good thing to have Thea and Monika play the main roles in "her" arc. But I'm still happy to see her get the finale.

I hope the next arc can keep the new standart set by this one!

Man... everyone be acting in here huh? I think the only one that isn't acting is actually Thea... who generally wanted to help.

Tho... I guess the "mother daughter" part isn't really a act, that was partly true, except the relationship is false, as the mom was twisted.

And Matilda actually didn't lie about her situation huh... turns out she indeed had all the stuff happen to her and she was actually almost cross-off by her own country.

.

Also, DAMN... that Aura Given off by Klaus can literally kill.

poor sniper dude, bet he shit his pants right there.

But the sniper had a backup escape plan

.

Tho while it's the "uno-reverse card" in who gets the bomb...

Matilda didn't actually go back on her words at any time, she actually wanted to escape and get rid of anything that might harm her.

In a way, Matilda was a real spy.

Her only downfall was actually accepting Anette's toolbox like a proper mother saying her goodbyes even when everyone already revealed they're spies. Matilda didn't get suspicious at the toolbox at all... she seriously thought it was a harmless gift from her daughter. RIP. Her real motherly instinct got in the way of her spy instinct.

Well you can't blame Thea, being one of the oldest members of the group, for standing up for her beliefs in helping people given what she had gone through in her past. It's understandable why she couldn't kill immediately. Matilda is really creepy revealing her true self to Thea, hurling insults of them being naïve in trusting and helping someone who's from the enemy side.

Luckily, Annette solves this dilemma by doing her usual cruel self while talking in her cheerful demeanor. This second cour really has improved from the first lacklustre one though we really don't need to be confused with the timeline of the events where words keep on saying "3 days before..." and so forth. I don't mind non-linear storytelling, but hopefully the production team knows what they're doing with this cour. Information should be explained more, but as minimal as it can be is the better way to convey a story to the audience.
