Alliances in this show feel important more now than ever.

There's also a big target on Gardar's back with his recent actions and escape. Speaking of escape, Gardar literally just ran for his life instead of going on horseback. Took a lot of guts and courage to pull of what he did. He looks physically and mentally exhausted as a slave, but I guess he's free now. He liberated himself from mediocrity.

Helping others out in need is a good thing, but sometimes you ought to respect the circumstances. Gardar has done something irredeemable, and while Arnehid helping him out to escape is no less than an accomplice, at the very least from Snake’s view. But being the fellow slaves they are, the duo of Einar and Thorfinn can see the human compassion behind Arnheid’s actions, despite her revealing it wasn’t as if Gardar escaped, rather she hid him under Sverkel’s bed. Right under the nose of Snake no less.

Though now that they’ve decided to help out Arnehid, in however way possible, Einar luring out Snake and his men impersonating as Gardar was beyond reckless. Though Snake being the perceptive one he is, he saw through the trick, and it just meant trouble for the main man escorting Gardar and Arneheid out, Thorfinn. And then came the inevitable faceoff, Thorfinn against Snake.

But hey Thorfinn has sworn to non-violence right? So whom to show him the path in such a situation? Of course, GOAT Askeladd, and so he did. Thorfinn in the proper stance taking on Snake… can’t be nothing but HYPE.

Next episode is where all hell will start to break loose, as finally the farm arc will enter its final stages. If it wasn’t already great enough, it’s only going to go up from here on. Super looking forward.

Gardar's escape sets the tone of Snake and the retainers looking for him, and to Einar, it's danger for Arnheid. But her breaking the news to them both that she set her own husband free, it's clear that Thorfinn needs to clear a path for the wife to explain her situation to both him and Einar, while Snake and his retainers use her as bait to lure Gardar in. The fantasy that Arnheid thought that she could return to the life she had with her after losing their only son Hjalti, it all came crashing down in a mere way. So much in fact that Einar wants her to escape together with Gardar while holding the old master's baby, and he is prepared with Throfinn to face the arduous road ahead with her as the only option. The old Gramps, lying on his deathbed, grants Snake his fields in exchange of violence, to do something productive once in his life, though Gardar has been spotted for them to take action.

While Einar acts as the decoy, Thorfinn helps Arnheid, Gramps and Gardar escape, though he got caught by Snake turning back and realizing their antics. Being the only one as opposed to his 2 other pursuers, Thorfinn is faced with a dilemma, until Askeladd comes to give him a pep talk about becoming a true warrior, which he fights with his whole body.

Hoo boy, Snake vs. Thorfinn, let the escape wars begin.

Another emotional but incredible episode. Arnheid's VA did souch an amazing job there. Props to her. I felt so bad for Arnheid in all of this. She's suffering so much but It was nice to see my boys being there for her in this hard time. They're trying to help both Gardar and Arnheid escape the country. It will not be easy but they gotta do it.

Thanks to the old man... they were able to keep a low profile but not for long and it's finally time for Thorfinn to go against Snake and those final moments of the episode were so epic. Old Thorfinn stance in new Thorfinn. Chills. Can't wait for the next episode.

Sound direction was outstanding this episode. the VA of Arnheid was amazing and the OST they used gave it the emotional touch. Snake vs Thorfinn was short but good and I did not expect to see Askeladd again.

Yet another banger of an episode and we're still having 7 more episodes to come.

You have to fight to protect. That's what Thorfinn has to do now. Its a hard decision to make after swearing off violence some episodes ago. Thorfinn racks his brain about it so much so in that moment that he even sees Askeladd again. Whispering in Thorfinn ear about those pesky decisions, do you stay a pacifist or fight to help others. After hearing the desperation on Arnheid earlier in the episode Thorfinn makes the choice to fight even Snake, someone he's grown very close to, if it means helping Arnheid and Gardar escape. Arnheid explaining why she cut Gardar loose was heartbreaking. You have to feel so much for her in that moment as she's telling Einar and Thorfinn. How even despite the misery they've experienced she still dreams of having that same happiness they did before. Its an important lesson in this episode, that no matter how awful things get we still have to dream. Sometimes dreams come at a cost but we must pursue them. I love how inspired to help Einar is, he just wants Arnheid to be happy and free so getting her to escape with Gardar is best case scenario right now. Drawing the others away so Thorfinn could help them get Gardar out of Sverkel house. Leading to that confrontation between Thorfinn and Snake. Of which Thorfinn makes the hard choice to fight to protect.

Every time Askeladd shows up, the episode becomes more exciting. No wonder why he's my favorite character.

I hope people are no longer complaining of how "slow paced" and "action lacking" this season is.

Snake's nose must not be very good if he couldn’t smell the wounded Gardar despite being in the same house.

The highlight of the episode has to be Arnheid. Her voice actress Mayumi Saco did a phenomenal job. Her cries felt almost too real.

Holy shit. This episode ended with a hige cliffhanger. Again.

Can't wait for Snake vs Thorfinn. Hope it will be a good fight. So hyped.

Askeladd even when dead is still the most fabulous character in this story. So much larger than life.

Goosebumps galore! What an episode, while the first half was emotional the second half was pure hype

Thorfinn and Einar approach towards Arnheid and meet her

Arnheid has a mental breakdown remembering Gardar's dead eyes. Looking at her in such a pathetic state, both Thorfinn and Einar offer her help to escape the farm.

Meanwhile, Sverkel talks with Snake. He tells him to discard his sword, and rather work on farm, produce life. That's a better way of living for sure. But Snake being stubborn refuses.

Einar wears Gardar's cloak and baits Snake and two of his men to run towards forest. At first all three run towards Einar, but then snake changes direction when they were midway to the forest.

After coming back he realizes that it was a bait and confronts Thorfinn. Thorfinn has voices of Askeladd forcing him to think what he should do? Should he be a true pacifist? Or should he fight to help someone? Even Snake is fighting for such a reason, so is it worth fighting? Thorfinn makes the first move and Snake dodges.

Thorfinn then proceeds to make his old stance: the knife dual wield stance. I got literal chills when they showed old Thorfinn holding the dual knifes and transitioning and showing his current stance without the knives. Episode end

5/5 episode. From the preview of next episode, looks like we are getting a happy ending? God I don't want to take happiness in this show for granted. It seems that it is often short-lived and things go down south quickly. In any case, next episode is going to be insane!

PS: I forgot to mention this, but I must say that Arnheid's VA did a fantastic job conveying Arnheid's sorrow of her circumstances, the misery that she and Gardar felt after losing Hjalti. I need time to recover from this πŸ₯²

A bold and quite reckless plan was set into motion to help Arnheid escape with Gardar, but Snake is a smart guy so of course he saw through it. Thorfinn continues to struggle with the choices he must make, forcing himself to fight after swearing off violence. And the one to give him that last push was none other than THE BOY, MY GOAT, ASKELADD!!!! LETS GOOOO. It was great to see Thorfinn take up that familiar stance. Next episode is going to be a banger.

Also, what exactly was Arnheid's endgame there if Thorfinn and Einar didn't happen to show up? Just leave Gardar's body under the old masters bed and he just lays there until he dies? Lol just a random thing I thought about while watching.

I hope this episode silenced those who were supposedly sick of Thorfinns pacifism. We finally get the conflict in his morals yet people were so quick to jump to conclusions that Thorfinn is a bad character just because his ideology contrasts the Viking period.

Amazing episode, Arnheids voice actor needs a raise for her performance, seriously. This is another episode that reminds me how much I love Askeladd, I always love how much of an impact he made on Thorfinn.

Hated this episode.

I'm sorry but the dialogue from Arnheid towards Einar and Thorfinn was just so bad.
First stated
"The guest was going to kill both me and Gardar"

No,Gardar was the one that decided to take on the offense by biting off of someones neck and kill him, while Snake and his men were so damn lenient towards Gardar, he still decides to kill more of his Men. Amazing how that logic works. Now that he killed 5 more Men, its reasonable enough that snake has to kill him before Gardar poses any more death. And the reason?! Simply because that 2nd guest was trying to get Arnheids attention by touching her shoulder to keep herself together while lingering on the floor for a while, because HE could get in trouble when caught..... I don't see how that is of any danger that warrants a murder from Gardar. The fact that Gardar survived after killing a guy shows the level amount of tolerance.

But now we get Einar, simping for Arnheid, without any real reason as to why he wants to help her other then the fact that shes already taken, and hoping that he could still be in relationship with her.

Unless Arnheid is intentionally lying but there is no sorts of hints implying that at all !

she's right... she took the act as the guest were about to kill them. If Gardar didn't do anything they'd be killed. this is justified on his end

Congrats, this is the dumbest thing I've read in like a month. Maybe actually try to see it from the perspective of Arnheid, an exhausted, pressured, terrified, and distraught woman? There's no guarantee that the guests wouldnt kill her, they don't understand the full context. Also Einar is just being a good person for her, there's no fucking simping here, he just cares for her and understands her situation.

Two-thirds of the way through the second season!

I like that in Sverkel's and Snake's discussion, the animators added a bit to highlight the unique sword he has.

I've seen talk of Gardar looking like a hairier Einar being the reason why Arnheid was so nice to the latter. His playing the part of the decoy is very befitting.

The rightful King of Britannia is back for another imagine-spot. Seeing Einar's determination to help Arnheid and Gardar escape together, Thorfinn lends his helping hands too, and uses them, he must, when the most intelligent guest/their leader Snake realises they've been bamboozled.

In my opinion, this ep is by far the best one in S2.

The way Arnheid cried about how she dreamed in that situation gave me so many goosebumps and chills that my hands got so cold just from listening to her. How she talked and cried seemed so realistic and so intense, which made me feel like I was experiencing it myself, rather than her. That's some real voice acting skills, Respect to the voice actor (Mayumi Saco)!

Not only that, but Thorfinn finally decided on something on his own, rather than escaping it by being silent (gotta be honest I'm also a victim of this). Thorfinn must decide if he should fight for what he wants. It's a good thing to fight for what he really wants than just being a bystander or an NPC, he needs to realize that. Well, he's starting to understand.

and I've said this before, but Askeladd is still cooking after he died.

First of all, props to Arnheid's voice actress, she really nailed those sad lines very well. The reason that this show has worked so well for me is that each character has their own motives that can be justified to some extent. Arnheid wants to help Gardar escape because in the end, he's her husband, and for Snake, he has to defend the farm for his pride, and to avenge his comrades. Thorfinn, while he has sworn off violence supposedly, should one raise his fist to protect what he believes in? It's a difficult decision indeed. Askeladd appeared once again as well, to give Thorfinn that push he needed. Was it necessary to have him there? Not particularly in my opinion, but who doesn't want to see more Askeladd?

I have loved Sverkel's character so far, because even as he is near death from old age, he is still the voice of reason, and has read the room quite well. His dialogue about how slaves are just unfortunate people, and that if him and Snake were unlucky they would have suffered the same fate, was quite thought provoking.

A tough battle lies ahead, as the farmland saga enters its final stretch. It's been a joy to watch so far, and I have no doubt it'll continue to be as good down the stretch.
