This episode felt like a psychological character study of Thorffin's character. From his mental thoughts, dreams, and overall response to life and death itself.

What an ending though. Just a reminder that the show can be cruel to anyone, at any time and at any place. This was just as tense as many of the other episodes and shows how humans take action in their own hands.

There’s no running away from the past as it cannot be changed or erased, it can only be accepted… and that’s what Thorfinn needs to learn quick and fast. He still searches for a purpose in his life and knows more than anyone how empty he is from inside. But things will begin to work, in fact they’ve already started as now people like Einar and Sverkel are there to look after him. Though for the time being, the second half was a harsh recall as to what awaits for slaves in their world. A year worth of hardwork and those goons wasted every single shred of it just like that… honestly the most heart-rending moment.

Einar’s anger was well justified, though it was Thorfinn who took the charge and punched the living daylights out of that twerp faced servant. But happy endings isn't a thing in this series, Thorfinn's past is here to haunt him.. AGAIN. Excellent episode, which had Thorfinn question his actions at every front.

Man... I feel so bad for Einar and Thorfinn and their crops and the discrimination that actually still happens to this day. The difference between a Slave and a free man. Einar was so angry in the second half of the episode but it was nice to see that Thorfinn was trying continuously to stop him but he also had a limit and the anger took over him and then they got assaulted.

Thorfinn still trying to find his purpose after Askeladd is gone. Einar is there to support him but that's all he can do for him. The old man is a very nice person. It was nice of him to give them some words of wisdom.

Thorfinn's nightmare is becoming more prevalent as a dream, the dream of falling off a cliff, after Askeladd is gone from his life.

The Empty Man that Thorfinn is now, forgetting all of his dreams, but yet still oh-so-important, so what is causing him to not remember? Ketil's retainers aren't happy that both Einar and Thorfinn are making as much waves into their crop cultivation. Thorfinn fighting against Askeladd for oretty much all of his life, and when he got killed by somebody else, there was no motivation left for said slave to act on his revenge of 11 years. Einar comforting him that the matter has been settled, Thorfinn just couldn't get rid of Askeladd by himself, fueled with hatred. It's the season of Lent, and Thorfinn trying to cast a net into the sea, it's easier said than done. And the both of them having a conversation moment of ennui about what it means to be a warrior, and Thorfinn might've been one before, but now, it's different.

The wheat crops being destroyed by the retainers, words could not explain the evil behind the distinction between a retainer and a slave. Einar was fuming so bad that he wanted to get back at them so badly, and even against Thorfinn, he can't suppress his anger. This is the same for the old man who was once bullied, and he shares their sentiments. But amidst the depression, nothing will satisfy Einar other than violence, which Thorfinn tries his best to restrain Einar, but ended as the one doing the punch instead.

That was a satisfying punch, though. But Thorfinn's memories coming back just when he got it altogether, it's an ominous cliffhanger.

Once again, yet another excellent episode delving at Thorfinn's character.

FUCK this ending. Seven whole days of waiting now, I should just stick watching awful isekai shit seasonally and wait for this until it ends. The worst thing is that if I didn't have a Netflix subscription I would probably be able to control myself and wait until there were at least 10+ episodes to watch.

Thorfinn is the definition of a broken man. His time on the battlefield has wounded him so deeply it won't let go. Haunted by his actions killing others he can't move forward because of it. Not being able to remember the hellish dreams he has only amplifier Thorfinn feeling of emptiness. Being tormented by both memories and dreams yet not being able to remember much of anything. Thorfinn telling Einar about Askeladd was a big step for him, how he followed this man with only hatred in his body. Now released from that hatred in an unsatisfying way has doomed Thorfinn to feeling empty. Its very sad seeing Thorfinn in such pain, my heart breaks for him every time. His talk with Einar when they were walking through the forest had me tear up Thorfinn asking if people like him can change. Great reassurance by Einar saying no way anyone could think Thorfinn is a warrior by how he is now. They're friendship is such a highlight of this story.

All that really comes to a head when they see their wheat destroyed. Einar consumed with rightful rage but Thorfinn has to reign him in. Thorfinn guilt making him feel like he has no right to anger in this situation considering he used to be just like the retainers. But its his work too raising these crops so I loved seeing him deck that retainer after saying their wheat would be gross because they're slaves. Thorfinn delivering that satisfying first punch before even Einar can. They get kind of beat around as Thorfinn falls back into that dark chasm of his pain.

Thorfinn's dreams are eating away at him, it seems like one step forward, two steps back in his mental state, and I feel for him, and for Einar. It really goes to show what the difference is between a slave and a retainer. One might ask how destroying the wheat benefits anyone, but this act is honestly inexplainable. People want power, and can't stand people who are at a lower level get treated the same way as them, simple as that.

As for Einar, I've said a few times now that he's like Season 1 Thorfinn. He's very emotional and loud, and speaks his mind. Now it's Thorfinn trying to restrain him instead of the other way around. Seeing Thorfinn punch the retainer in Einar's place was quite a powerful scene, and chaos ensued from that. Just a terrible day for them, and I hope they keep their heads held high as they continue working on the farm.

Overall, one of the better episodes of the season, but then basically all of them have been very good. The character development is strong for the characters, and this episode felt like a great study of Thorfinn's character, with Askeladd, Thors, and the past weighing down on him. Excellent work here.

Thorfinn accepted that his rage towards Askladd was just a mean to survive in his past. Although, with time his rage towards him declined.

Never expected "One Punch Thorfinn" literally breaking the jaw of a person.

Thorfinn is still weighed down by guilt. All the shit he has done was essentially for nothing and since Askeladd(without  the hate to cope) is out of the picture he's basically shackled. The visual depiction of him trying to climb up while people whom he killed drag him down is striking.

Was good to see him breaking free for a second. He's moving. I also love how honest his body is again, but he needs to chanel his energy into a different direction. Speaking of body, I gotta say that I don't like his current design in the anime. The beard doesn't match his soft facial features and size. Iirc he looked more rugged in the manga. Or maybe it was just the grittier art in general.

The retainers are absolute lowlives for messing with the hard work and hopes of others. I rather respect mercenaries and marauders like Askeladd and Björn who knew they were cruel pieces of shit. They were at least brave and had some decency for people of their trade. I don't remember what's gonna happen to them, hopefully justice will be served.

This season is so frigging captivating and shit hasn't even hit the fan yet.

Peakland Saga continues to make my day better with another banger this week. I really loved Thorfinn's slow realisation that Einar is being consumed by vengeance just as he once was, but he still taps back into his warrior side at the end, showing he still has a long path ahead.

Arguably the most important chapter/episode in terms of Thorfinn’s future character development. Yes he’s made mistakes in the past and war was all he knew, but “being empty means anything can fit inside you” A new start. This is cinema, folks I hope y’all are appreciating the level of writing we’re seeing here, anime doesn’t give you this often.

Thorfinn’s facial expressions and eyes have become so much more expressive over the past few episodes too. Love that.

Damn that punch. Well deserved. Even Thorfinn couldn't hold himself at the end after all their hard work was ruined by those useless retainers and snapped.

Sverkel keeps sharing his wisdom with Thorfinn and Einar. It's finally time for Thorfinn to move on and find a new purpose in his life.

Next week's episode is going to be the most important for Thorfinn's character development and his overall change towards his new way of life. And ofc Askeladd is going to be present during that transition.

Loved this ep, Thorfinn telling Einar about Askeladd and how he killed his father, old man Sverkel  teaching 'em how to catch fish and also telling Thorfinn that now that he i empty he can reborn taking one step at a time, learning one thing at a time. Them getting back to their farm and seeing Einar's reaction is so real because you created it, you made it, it's months of hardwork and love and time that it takes to make this and the retainers just destroyed it. Pater talling how in this world you can discrimination everywhere but not everyone is like that and how he too had to face a lot of things. Thorfinn and Einar returning and they see the retainers and the retainers were fkin with them a lot, Einar was about to punch him bro but Thorfinn punched so hard his jaw broke but they are still slaves and Thorfinn didn't fight more, we can see in the preview they got beaten hard and they will also have to faces ome conseqeunces. This episode for Thorfinn's character development meant a lot, him asking a lot of things and telling Einar to not fight, the thing that he forgot which his father told him was that HE HAS NO ENEMIES. That's the thing he needs to remember. Preview looked cool Thorfinn fighting his past and shii. I love season 2

What an introspective episode! We start with Thorfinn's dream of him falling off a cliff, supposedly getting brought down by corpses (which are zombie like?). Thorfinn then goes into deep introspection about his past. He tells Einar about his story of how he was only fueled by hatred and as he himself rightfully says, now that there is no more hatred he has become empty, a shell of his former self with no idea what he is supposed to do ahead. In comes wise old man Sverkel, takes them to fishing and casually gives Thorfinn an important life lesson.

"If you are empty, then you can fit anything inside you. In fact, it's better to be empty if you want to be reborn."

Those are truly inspiring words imo and have lot of deep meaning and emotion behind them. If you are empty, go ahead one by one, fill yourself with things you like and in that process try to figure out your life. It makes a lot of sense that way.

Continuing on, as expected the retainers are malding over Einar and Thorfinn's wheat growth and destroy their crops. Einar becomes extremely furious, and snaps at Thorfinn because he is so calm. Thorfinn once again gives introspective words, stating he has no right to be angry at retainers as he has done nothing but destroyed things in the past. As they walk, Einar gives a great parallel of their and Arnheid's situation. If they like you, you are bound to them and if they hate you they mistreat you. Again, such juxtaposition of their antithetical situations is a sign of great story writing by Makoto Yukimura sensei 🙏

For the final part of episode, there is a literal brawl out. First of all, GOOD JOB ON THAT PUNCH THORFINN. That retainer has been very very annoying right from when he appeared in second episode, so him getting jaw dropped with a punch was extremely satisfying to watch. Then the brawl out started. And then the episode ends lmao. Next episode is titled 'Oath', I wonder if Thorfinn will take oath for something.

Great episode overall. You won't see moments like this in Shounen, and is the real charm of Seinen. It brings out the strongest of characterizations possible at the best of times.

5/5 episode.

Loved seeing more of Thorfinn's development and the continued growth of the friendship between him and Einar. Looks like Einar learned about Arnheid's situation, pour one out for the homie 😔 and damn I felt bad for what happened to their wheat. Warrior Thorfinn came back out a little with that amazing punch, but slaves rebelling like that will only mean bad things for these 2 in the next episode.

The character-driven narrative of Farmland Saga has been amazing so far, even without the action or intensity of season 1, it isn't boring to watch.

Man, bringing those dreams out into animation and the hands of the dead, MAPPA have really made it pop.
Meanwhile, how reality was depicted was also beautiful, especially the idyllic forest where Einar and Thorfinn had their chat. Speaking of which, adding Thorfinn imagining Einar's infancy foreshadowed Einar's words about if they had met earlier, the little touches like that on this adaptation are a chef's kiss.

Wow, just wow.

So far this arc has been really crappy (aside from a midly good episode 3), but this episode was truly deep.

The talk about being empty and is a great way to start anew, Thorfinn acknowledging his mental state and Einar also acknowledging that the girl he likes is surely the landlord concubine, the mutilation of the crops was an incredible pay off and made a great contrast of Einar and Thorfinn life.

I'm glad I didn't loose faith, and hope it still becomes better
