So the European Union has drafted this new bill , which, for the most part is pretty neat, but there's one bit that concerns me. The part which says, Tech companies would be compelled to set up new policies and procedures to remove flagged hate speech, terrorist propaganda and other material defined as illegal by countries within the European Union. I say this because sexual depictions of minors is illegal in countries like France and UK, and this includes fictional and animated depictions. Now, this rule hasn't been enforced that hard, cuz who cares, but now, the platforms themselves will remove content like Highschool DxD or Haganai, and this includes platforms like Amazon, as they sell the DVDs and Blu Ray's for these shows and naturally, Google might remove the Crunchyroll versions of these shows too, so as to not be heavily fined. Any thoughts? |

This is bad news for the industry on a whole, because licencing these series in these regions bring in a lot of money to the producers, so this move might discourage the higher ups from making ecchi anime all together or if they do, it'll be toned down like The Greatest Demon Lord (Murabito A), from this season. |

It's impossible to ban anything when the internet exists. You can even get working 3d printed firearms neatly packaged in a torrent so inappropriate anime won't be that hard to get. |

Cuz iirc, the little girl from Tegamibachi has this quirk of running around with no pants on. First, Tegamibachi is neither a ecchi nor a lolicon anime, in fact, it's actually a very wholesome and emotional anime. Second, in those scenes nothing is ever shown, it is only implied that she wears no underwear and it's just used as a running gag rather than it being for sexual fanservice. Third, there's so much more to the anime than that and you summing it up with that one running gag is not only misleading but unfair to the anime as well. |

Did the UK BRENTER after BREXITing? Also I checked and I'm highly skeptical on how will this pan out. Doesn't seem much different than the previous dozens of times random governative enterprises tried to ban lolis, this time it isn't even the primary goal of the regulation. |

Anime is a very expensive hobby anyway, even in America. My big Virgo friend got ripped off by Aniplex and spent a lot of money on physical media anime-wise. She even paid several streaming services for anime. Yes, that means Funiroll. For the record, only children's anime get proper ADR or Greek dubbing in well Greece. Says a Greek. Netflix barely even features anime there too. A German babe once told me not too long ago that most anime don't get proper licensing in her country either. So everyone in central Europe is forced to use whatever English anime streaming sites that they could find. Future Macross movies are coming to Europe, sure! But anime will remain a niche form of entertainment. Like someone said, ecchi anime are very stale. Besides, I'm not into waifu bait, isekai or generic battle shounen. The most enthralled genres in America. |

Anime almost don't exist (in legal way) at Poland so lmao, it will most likely have no effect as we're the black sheep of Union and very often says No and almost get hit with serious consequences for being stubborn like polish (just type "free lgbt zone" in google so you'll know how far extreme my lovely country is), the only bad news for us are in the east since decades so we don't focus that much on the other stuff coming from West. |

In the first place, that's not even what the law is about...secondly, as always, every EU country can decide themselves how exactly they want to implement EU law into their national laws, so just because something is illegal in France doesn't mean it's illegal anywhere else (and UK isn't part of the EU anymore btw). Literally nothing will change, and if it did, people would just do what 95% of anime fans already do anyways and watch stuff on sites that don't give a damn about laws in general. I don't necessarily condone that, but I've always been in a tiny minority regarding that. That said, I'd personally be very happy if ecchi ceased to exist. It has always been a blight upon anime and I'd enjoy it so much more if it was gone :P |

Which is exactly why I'm saying that I'll continue watching anime even if it contains some parts that I dislike and would rather not see. My response was to someone saying I should just not watch ecchi anime if I don't like ecchi, which makes about as much as sense as to tell someone to just not watch comedy anime if they want to not see comedy. It doesn't work that way, because genres bleed into each other. I simply said that I, personally, would be happy if ecchi got truly banned. Like, for real, in a proper way, like how Japan banned uncensored depictions of genitals in both their fiction and porn. I also said that that desire ultimately has nothing to do with this because that's not what the law is even about, so the whole panic is pointless. I just like to dream about a world in which fiction caters to my tastes and not someone else's, why is that such an upsetting concept for everyone to be replying to that bit, lol. |

Two people being in a romantic relationship and having sex isn't fanservice, it's literally the content of the story. Which is specifically why I brought up hentai, since romance and consumating the relationship also is specifically the point of it. I enjoy that regardless of gender, but good job projecting your prejudices on others :) I have a stack for shipping, which is not the same as fujo bait. Shipping is specifically about what ISN'T there, so you can have fun with your own creativity in completely unrelated series. I'm not qualified to attest the intent mangaka/anime directors had and if some wanted to specifically attract fujoshis to their works (personally, I'd think so for a few of them) but the majority have no such background whatsoever. Not even gonna reply to the last line in your comment, considering the level of willful ignorance it displays. |
