So... did Rudeus finally kill someone?

Also, I wonder if Ghislaine is related to these beast men. Would be too much of a coincidence tho.

OK episode overall. Gotta say the misunderstanding felt incredibly forced when nobody let Rudeus explain himself tho.

P.S.: RIP horny grandpa.

Gallus is only unconscious, not dead. Originally Rudy ties him up, but in the anime he faints instead.

There are not many cities and villages on the Demon continent, so there's a high chance that Ghislaine is from the Dedoldia village.

They didn't want to interrogate Rudy because they could smell a diviant aura on him. Beastmen mostly rely on their nose and it told them he's guilty.
It's the same thing as in Re:Zero, Rem killed Subaru because he had a bad smell.

Lol mc like enlightened buddha. The villagers stupid & don't try to communicate at all. Good Smuggler vs Rudeus/monkey/dog fight (wait on pheasant for the Momotaro arc lol). Weird pacing, with dog, Eris & Ruijerd mostly gone with some brief excuses.

A few differences between this episode and the LN. One of them I wish they didn't show was Sauros Greyrat's execution (not in the books btw,) because how they learned about it was much more impactful in the books.

I think this is more impactful than in the LN, there they find it out next to other devastating news so it doesn't stand out as much.

They aren't on the demon continent anymore, this is the Millis continent (the only continent with indigenous beast people). Ghislaine's origins are gonna come up in the next episode.

Grandpa's execution - that's been relieved far too soon. It's a lot later in the LN.

Hopefully not a sign of a chunk of material being "cut" in the adaptation.

There are few other key things that happen later that they could do as "inserts" to juxtapose the current timeline and allow for big cuts later....

Of course, they cleared this misunderstanding fast but that ending, damn, i wasn't expecting. Things are also rough on that part of the sea.

Also, this episode shows in a really clear way rudy's fears, and how inexperienced he is.
He'll have to gain some courage if he really wants to protect Eris.

I personally just didn't like the storyline changes that they made to this episode. The flow of the story was changed, the interactions between characters was changed and the responses from Rudeus to those circumstances was also added in, everything was slightly inconsistent in terms of how the story felt and the atmosphere it created. This episode was frankly a big miss for me, and this was the first time when I felt unsure about how this adaption will continue.

The ending scene and the north saint storyline changed the general atmosphere of the adventure, which is a horrible direction for this adaption. In the books, the jail part was partly comedy and otherwise a way for the MC and the new side character to bond. It was also short storyline where the MC finally got his payback against the Dodoria clan after all the pain they made him go through.. While in this adaption they treated him even worse and they got away with pretty much a simple "We are sorry".. Also the connection with the "holy beast" was skipped over which was an important plot point in the novel (also the way they handled the "holy beast" was completely different in the anime).

As a final point, the action scene and stances felt like they were a lot worse compared to the first season (I kinda noticed it during the beach fight scene as well)... It kinda feels cheaper (also the stances Eris did while showing her skills of to children looked more like a child swinging around a branch instead of a proper stance), and that it might be related to budget restraints..

Will start watching the next episode, but this is the first time (for Mushoku Tensei episodes) where I'll give the story adaption a 3/10 (and it was pretty much all because of the jail scene)

The part with naked Rudeus was pretty funny, NGL, conveniently enough they left his equipment right beside his cage in case he was trying to run away or something. I feel like this episode throws in some new plot (Eris' grandfather, big doggy) without explaining anything. Anyways, enjoyable as always.

I love this episode was sooo cool and fun. It was so satisfying to see Rudeus beat Garus. And his junior is also likable. We also got to see more scenes with the white dog. We got alot of happiness in one episode so to balance it the director added the execution of Eris's grandfather.......
that was sad

Rudeus has been imprisoned by the Doldia Village and he is given no chance to explain himself, despite the fact that he's innocent.

Throughout the week something does happen, a new prisoner comes. His name is Geese and he has been imprisoned for cheating while gambling with dice.

Eventually the smugglers come to attack the Doldia Village and take all of the children, but Rudeus and Geese end up backing up the Doldia tribe. Rudeus uses all the Cold Air available to create enough rain to take out all of the fires, and now one of the Doldia warriors can use their sense of smell to take out the enemy.

Gallus reveals that he had this elaborate plan for Rudeus and Ruijerd to free the Doldia children to then have the Doldia warriors go to the dock while Gallus and his men come to the Doldia Village to take all the women and children. Rudeus hesistated to act, but as the Doldia Dog Beast (forget its exact name) came to back up Rudeus and Geese, Rudeus found his courage and was able to defeat Gallus, who used the North God style.

Eris and Ruijerd met up with Rudeus and Eris informed him about what went on with her and Ruijerd.

And the last part of this episode was the beheading of Eris' grandfather for his lack of action during the whole mana disaster.

I wonder what will be going on in the future.

Rudeus's entire monologue about his new free apartment/prison cell was funny.

The action looked really nice this week. Gallus is way stronger than I gave him credit for.

It was depressing how it transitioned from Eris talking about she can't to see her grandfather with a big smile on her face to him being executed.

This episode was rather frustrating to watch, because the writers took the 'misunderstandings trope' too far. The persistent ear plugging of the beastmen to whatever Rudeus said to them, both on- and off-screen, did not really make any sense and later on we saw why: it was designed as a plot device to keep Rudeus there in order to save their asses.

Same with Ruijerd and his 'almost fight' with the beastmen team of the chief. It was never even mentioned but the beast-children could, you know, talk. Hence they could say "Guys he is not a kidnapper, he is the man who rescued us!". We saw Ruijerd being surrounded by beastmen with no beast-children visible anywhere, as if to have us temporarily forget that he had five beast-children under his protection.

So despite what Rudeus said about Ruijerd barely speaking he did not even need to speak in that instance; there was no point in him saying anything since he accompanied five temporarily invisible beast-kids who could do the talking for him. And, I assume, that's how that 'misunderstanding' was resolved. It was the only plausible way for it to be resolved, so Rudeus' hint about Ruijerd's stoicism made no sense.

RIP Erin's grandpa. It seems that that sleazy bald guy exploited the mana disaster as an excuse to execute a political rival and grab his domain. Since the king did not even talk this would suggest that he is one of the weak-ass kings who complies with whatever his close advisers whisper to his ear.

Nice easter-egg at the end.

Overall a great episode.

P.S: I also like the new OP song.

Having read the LN from its first volumes, rather than the WN first, I can confirm his death is on the LN and also the manga itself.

Yes, showing her was really good, but it is quite funny I only now realize those beast children's are sister from a certain duo we will see more on later, didn't realize at first.
I m surprised thought, Ariel chapters should have been adapted by now... I think they are going to leave them for the end of this season itself, which also makes a good connection to the sequel.

Maybe I've been overestimating Rudeus' strenght cause I thought with his magic skills and his magic eye he'd make quick work of that guy saint level or no. Also, Eris' grandpa did see that thing up in the sky way before his mana cataclysm thing and for some reason he chose to ignore it so now he's dead rip.

Woah Rudy is in prison but has now officially make his own morning routine but with a descriptive touch to it heh> Very profound of him and poor man gotta be naked and is shirtless lmao. Ngl the environment depicted is wonderfully represented and the CGI is well applied! I can't stop laughing when Geese and Rudy is just looking at each other while Rudy is confidently naked + both of them talking about women xD Also where did that fire come from? Also how did Rudy got his clothing back lol I think the last time I saw him was running around fully naked xD

Anyways YASS RUDY USING THE STAFF AGAIN, I always love the wind flowing to the sky to make it rain! Damn I knew Gallus was suspicious in the first place. I literally thought that the dog was a betrayal but he's an actual support after all and that staff ability visually looks hella cool to look at 0o0. Aww the puppy licking Rudy is cute and everyone was proud that Rudy defeats the North Saint/ He's saving everyones life and I hope he does more of this in the future because at some point, he's gradually building a healthy environment-friendly community :3 Also I noticed Eris is a lot more happier and comfortable being with Rudy and she's gradually being mature ;) Also wtf I think I missed the whole story but why's Eris's grandfather getting an immediate execution? That's somewhat unanswered but Imma read the LN after finishing Mushoku Tensei but anyways last thing, kind of spoiler that'll probably be true in next season but

Anyone else noticed that the OP changes with every continent Rudeus is in? First it was Tabibito no Uta for Central continent where he was born and raised, then Mezame no Uta for the Démon Continent, and now Keishou no Uta for the Millis Continent. Oh boiii, I can't get enough of MT's OP's

That's a good catch. I do wish they actually had showed the map more briefly and pinpoint where the party was at any given time in addition to explaining why sea travel isn't really a thing in the middle section and other details though I understand it's not really feasible in an adaption and would take a lot of time.

Hey bud thanks for the map. It was getting really difficult to understand and get a hang of all the places without any sort of visual to keep track of places. 😅

This episode was intense. The starting scenes were funny as well as sad, not only was Rudy imprisoned, he was humilated as well, but he's a chad after all so even while being complete naked, he's brimming with confidence.

The latter part was quite depressing to watch, I'm glad they managed to save the beast people, that fight between that north god dude and Rudy was really nice, that dog came to help Rudy as well, seems like he has taken a liking to Rudy.

Rudy passes out after using too much MP I guess and then wakes up to find Eris and Ruijerd in front of him, that woman who was throwing water on him and the dude who captured him are now apologising to him as they should but I don't they should be forgiven, I can understand they thought he was guilty but they didn't even hear him, took judgement in their own hands and imprisoned the savior of their children without any thought.

We also find the reason why it took Eris and Ruijerd a week to come save Rudeus.

Eris was happy that she got to visit a village of beast people, we all know how much Borus Greyrat's are fascinated by beast people, she was excited to share this with her grandfather but we see that he was executed :/

Saddest episode of MT till date?

Anyway this was really good, 5/5.
