Genshin Impact is proof that Chinese anime can be popular!

No... just because it is a Chinese show doesn't necessarily mean anime fans will hate said show. Genshin Impact is created by a Chinese company and had English and Japanese dubs. The game became a massive success and is enjoyed by many people worldwide.

This is proof that Chinese entertainment can be popular among the weeb communities. Chinese animated shows just need English and/or Japanese dubs.
I like dub more than sub because I am not a weeb.

Yeah, but like... other people do... am I right? Just going by the general public. Honestly, I don't know how popular Genshin Impact is, but I have seen a lot of people on Twitch play the game.

If it has Japanese dub then I don't mind watching Chinese anime.

Is it? Games can be popular no matter where it's from, especially when it's an online game, but anime? You have no interaction with other people while watching anime. It could become boring, and people won't be sold on it anymore.

Umm, there is a huge difference between ANIME and GAMES. Genshin Impact is just popular only because the art style is very similar to that of Anime. Meaning, the art style is more appealing worldwide. If more Chinese Animation had art style similar to Anime then Chinese Animation would be as popular as Anime itself.

I already knew that, but in regards to "Honkai Impact 3rd". Still if Genshin can open both doors to Chinese anime and previous games made by MIHOYO, I can only be glad.

Haven't played Genshin myself but I don't see how Genshin and Chinese anime are related.

One's a game with MMORPG mechanics that has a similar artstyle to anime while the latter is a chinese TV show that so happens to be branded as anime.

Don't have to convince me Chinese animation can be good. I saw Ne Zha, that shit was great. Nothing groundbreaking, but still a fun watch.

Genshin is a great game and it got extremely popular due to its anime art style along with its gameplay.

Still I already know that Chinese anime can be great and its manga as well.

I've watched a few chinese animations, they can be nice. Scissor seven is probably the best one i've watched. Genshin is a lot of waifu baiting, which is nice but I wouldn't ever play gacha.

Well to be fair, it might be chinese game, but everything really feels like Japanese. The art style, the story, even they hired a lot of popular seiyuu, which to me is the most important part. I almost dropped it in the first few minutes bcs I couldn't stand english dub. Then later I found out I can change the voice over. I become even more excited when they introduce new character Childe with Kimura Ryohei as the seiyuu. I can name a lot of popular seiyuu that are in Genshin, such as Toriumi Kousuke, Hayami Saori, Sawashiro Miyuki, Saitou Souma, Rie Tanaka, Ayumu Murase, Kirito's seiyuu and his blond bestie, etc. All very familiar names among anime fans.

I can see Chinese animation having potential

It's not too hard to think that their government would hamper it from reaching it for most projects though oof

"Genshin Impact is proof that Chinese anime can be popular!"

And I thought Mo Dao Zu Shi and Scissors Seven proved that too...why some people need more proof?

A title I wish becoming popular - Rescue Eternal Desert. Nothing out of the ordinary, just tons of fun and the ED song is epic.

Is Chinese anime not already popular? Well, I haven't seen any, but the boom is something I'd look forward to. For some reason, China's marketing methods are pretty good...

I'd like to believe that the CCP has little to do with Genshin. Idk how much it even goes into politics, it is probably just a gacha game with zero propaganda.

There are many anime fans in the West who haven't even heard of Mo Dao Zu Shi. Yet, within the gaming community you can find people who have heard of Genshin Impact quite easily.

Well about the games I am indeed excite with lost soul aside and Black Myth: Wukong.
About Chinese animes shiguang daili ren is currently is #21 here on MAL
Mo dao zu shi is #114.
Many manhwa and manhua are getting popular nowdays, bastard and solo leveling are well rated.
Then I don't think is necessary prove something to someone, people should watch/play what they want.

Nope, my impression is that everybody have heard of Mo Dao Zu Shi, just the weebs are a prejudice bunch. Hearing "chinese" they assume watching the show will somehow reprogram them to become communist drones also loosing along their sexual liberty or something...mind you Mo Dao Zu Shi is BL show. (I mean they censored most of the stuff from the books but it is still pretty clear what is going on in some of the relationships.)

I guess they are less prejudice...or maybe more consumption oriented and less picky? Maybe they will consume everything which is advertised.

I am an Anime fan, and I wouldn't have heard of MDZS if it weren't for this site. The only way I found out about new anime series is on Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit.

MDZS doesn't show up on my newsfeed or is it featured much on Reddit. I am assuming that is how most anime fans get their news on the upcoming anime season.

In addition, MDZS also doesn't get as many hits on Google globally relative to many anime series, so I am assuming it is fairly unknown outside of China.

Just localized them in Japanese language and people will consume it. Look at Azur Lane. Who even look at Kancolle nowadays? Big tiddies from AL totally dominated them.

It can be Korean it can be Chinese it can be even some African made vuvuzela men vs snake shit and people would still consume it, as long as they are in Japanese.

Personally, I don't really see the link between games made in one country and cartoons made in the same country

There are lots of popular American cartoons, but I can't name a single popular video game from the USA apart from maybe UNDERTALE? Although I'm sure someone who knows more about American video games will probably quote this and prove me wrong, lol (in which case, go ahead. I can admit when I'm wrong)

It's great that Genshin is popular, I guess (although I'm not a fan of open world games or real-time RPGs, so I couldn't care less about it myself) but I don't really see it as proof that Chinese cartoons can be popular in "weeb communities"

I think Chinese cartoons are already somewhat popular in the anime fandom anyway (honestly, I think there's more anime fans watch Chinese shows than those who play Genshin, but I don't have any statistics to back that up and it's just a hunch, so don't quote me on that, lol), which is fine with me, since I'm sure there are a lot of great Chinese shows!
