Have you ever gone to the phase where you don't have any motivation to watch/read an anime?

Yes, it lasted for like 2-3 weeks. Didn't take me too long to get back to into anime.

Yup, it's normal. No one should really discriminate others for this. Sometimes, you find other things that interests you. There's no need to feel any worry about this though, because once you start on an anime, it'll all comes back to you.

Well in my case, this is exactly what happened to me. :)

Maybe I had it like in 2015 when I stopped watching anime (don't remember well why I stopped) but since I came back last year, I haven't experienced that yet. There's too much to watch so I don't think I will in a long time. Also, I'm really busy with studies rn so I can't binge.

It's been on and off with me lately. The longest for me was over the course of some weeks not too long ago. During that time, I was reading Marvel and DC comics.

Yup, back in 2018. I got back to watching anime again in 2019.
Good times, good times...

I wasted all my time in rewatching to the point of my rewatch total is higher than my overall anime total lmao

Currently, going through this phase. So, many animes and mangas are on hold and in plan to watch/read but can't feel the motivation to do so.

Yes I felt that way in early 2019 before that I was that guy who was watching 10+ seasonals every season. After fall 2018 I just stopped when the new year started nothing interested me even shows that were on my plan to watch or that I had started none of them and it took me watching some old shows like LOGH and onisama to restart watching again though I still don't really watch seasonals even now.

Back when I binged many series in a short span of time, yes, I would get sick for a few days or weeks.

But now I mostly watch seasonals, so it does not happen anymore. I only watch on certain days of the week, and then spend the rest of my time doing other things.

At first, I was taking breaks for just a couple of days, and those buffer periods were scattered for me atleast.

But the biggest gap was throughout the Spring season this year, a time where I was just can't do anything and just watch or read whatever I even can. Now I'm recovering and doing the stuff that I normally do, but I can imagine that it will happen to me pretty soon.

I haven't lost motivation, it's just that I've been so incredibly busy that I haven't had the chance to sit down and binge shows like I used to before February this year. I'm working 45 hours a week, so my life currently consists of either working or sleeping, which I don't mind since I'm making good money, even throughout the pandemic. It really goes to show that time is a commodity. And because I'm always sleeping, I don't have the urge to watch anime like I used to.

If I were to match my numbers from last year, then I would have to complete another 500-600 anime titles (which is possible with MVs) within the next 3 months.

you mean *read manga* right?
well i was obsessed with genshin impact for like 2 months or something and that's why i didn't watch anime for shit in that time, but losing the motivation...
i can actually relate way too much i just need the right words lol wait
i. i have borrowed manga and books 1 (one) *year* ago. I have not touched them since. The guilt has been overflowing me for a whole year straight so i'm planning on giving them all away at once the next few weeks. the point is, i procrastinated things i adore for a year straight because i simply had neither the motivation nor the energy to simply. read.
i can't read my favourite books anymore, it hurts
so yeah i know the feeling and i'm glad it hasn't really happened with anime yet...i'm anxious it will<x

Plenty of times, particularly given the amount I've seen/read of anime/manga/light novels/even some visual novels. I've even gone through the phase of rewatching most I wanted to rewatch at some point when it comes to great shows. I'm still somehow alive and kicking when it comes to consuming stuff, for now.

I feel with any hobby or anything, burnout is a given and instead of forcing yourself to watch anime, taking a long break could just be what you need.

I haven't yet but I feel in the coming years I might.

lol you might want to edit your title...

But responding to your question, yes. It's a seasonal thing either due to not having time available, not being interested in anything, just not feeling it or all combined. Thankfully it's something that if you give it time, it fixes itself. Just gotta enjoy other hobbies in the meantime... or hope for that amazing title that keeps you on the edge of your chair ;D

Yes when I tried overexerting myself but then I started to take it slow and be there for the journey rather than rush things, it makes it more enjoyable anyways.

Yeah, In my early teens I lost almost all interest in anime/manga. I didnt come back until 1st year of Uni.

These days I take breaks here and there and that usually prevents burnout.
