| Surprising fight. I thought Luffy was gonna lose when his eyes lost their pupils. But I knew he wasn't when he got up smiling. I almost forgot that Luffy could bleed. Doesn't happen to him to often. I wish sharp bullets didn't hurt him though. Ah well. |

| Episode 28: Gin saves Luffy and Sanjis lifes but gets poisoned in the process (he did have the chance to survive but choose to obey Don even when he decided to kill him, that's what I call a strong loyalty). I like Gin, he is strong and ruthless but even he has emotions and fights fair unlike Don Krieg :3 The fight finally starts with Luffy putting up a great fight while Krieg uses underhanded methods to try killing Luffy, using bombs, wood arrows even a fricking kenzan cape which is a spiked cape but Luffy uses a punch move and manages to knock out Krieg for a instant :3 Afterwards Krieg plays with Luffy using a bomb Spear but in the end Luffy breaks it too which reduces it power to half :3 Luffy's last line in the end, prepare yourself Don Krieg your ass is gonna get kicked your selfish bastard ;3 A great episode showing Luffy's endurance :3 |

| Two of the best fights this arc, I had thought they were lacking before the Zoro vs Mihawk. The Usopp arc was basically 10 episodes of build up and then a one shot for both Jango and Klahadore, and the Buggy arc was pretty anti climatic, and I don't even remember the first arc's fight if there was even one. This fight was awesome, Luffy charged through tanking hits showing he can indeed bleed. Makes me wonder if a limb will ever be cut off. Anyways, the way the fight worked with Luffy punching directly through the porcupine cape and then trading with the spear enough to break it was so GAR. I love the analogy of his spear of determination beating any number of weapons or pirates. I also must say, I have criticized One Piece for having gimmicky, comedic, one note villains constantly when contrasted with the great character writing in nearly everyone else. But Ghin is a fantastic villain, I really enjoy him. Despite being a cruel pirate commander he has sympathy for someone as kind as Sanji, and despite that sympathy he's still willing to embrace death from his respected leader. He has many layers of depth. The way he held the gas mask over Sanji's mask was super heroic. He's definitely the best villain so far in this anime. Excited for the way this fight ends. I wonder if Krieg's got any more tricks up his sleeve, if not I can only imagine it will become a slugfest which Luffy will win. This anime was already my favorite battle shounen and they've already started patching up the few down sides. |
| Gin was loyal to the end, disposing of that mask towards Luffy so he can use that instead. Good thing he survived~ Even with a rubber body, Luffy can still get pierced just like how a tire can get punctured. I doubt a limb will get lopped off anytime soon because of his body structure. Seeing him endure all those explosions was hard to watch but his smug grin when Krieg's spear broke after all that impact was priceless. |

| Luffy can defeat Don in a 1v1 but that would have been underwhelming I guess. No wonder he got a glass cannon of a spear. It looks pretty cool though even though it wasn't sturdy enough. But Luffy sure took some heavy blows from those explosions. |

| Hmm. I don't know my opinions on this fight/episode. I liked that Ghin ended up surviving, at least it seems that way. I don't know if I liked the fight (so far) though. I actually thought Don Krieg was done in the first punch there by Luffy, and I thought whilst anti-climactic, it was really fitting for how much of a pansy he was being the whole time, and boasting of his strength, to get one-shot. But then he kept getting back up and now he has this spear that, yeah Luffy eventually destroyed (I assumed that was the reason he kept trying to make contact with it, but I was surprised how fast it shattered), seems just insanely powerful and it's like he never got attacked by Luffy in the first place. I just hope that Luffy destroys him in the next episode, so we don't have to see Don Krieg anymore. I really like this arc for Sanji, Zeff, the Pearl guy (despite everyone else seemingly hating him), Ghin even... but man Krieg is such an annoyance that I hope he never comes back (though I have a feeling he will). |
