I see Vivy has made her mind to relaly turn the tide of this conflict around. To save humanity is a bold statement but I believe she may have what it takes. Not going to be easy but she has the idea.

Quite a tense episode imo but if anyone in this show can do it, it's going to be Vivy to end this conflict between humans and AI.

It was a good episode. However, there were some expected revelations.

So she'll get another try? That was kinda weird to be honest but the situation is still very tense, now I suppose she'll succeed the Singularity Project this time

Holy fuck man, so Vivy had an opportunity to stop the catastrophe but couldn’t find it in her to sing. Just when all hope seemed lost, she gets a second opportunity. One last shot at changing the future. I loved that OST during she and Elizabeth’s fight with the guards and Elizabeth’s sacrifice. Vivy’s fight scenes have been criminally underrated.

With anime originals, one of the biggest issues is nailing an ending. There’s no source material to go off, so it’s difficult to wrap everything up in one episode that’ll satisfy everyone… but here we go

RIP Yui and Beth in this timeline, quite surprised that Osamu managed to survive longer than them

Now, the penultimate moment for Diva@Vivy to stop the war since Osamu's already dead in the new timeline

One thing about Vivy that I like is how grounded and conservative it is when comes to themes and classic SF tropes, sure you can call it unambitious, but it also avoids many potential plot holes which so commonly plagues stories that involve multiple timelines; thus the predicable story in last few episodes don't bother me as much as I thought. As long as it sticks its landing in the finale next week, I would consider my time worthwhile.

Despite all that AI's have given to humans though rather than treat them as equals and learn to be independent of them all humans have done is degenerate back to their primal instincts huh. This last mission really is daunting though storming a lab in the enemies backyard. Even though we only met last ep Yui's determination and her desire to do what is right for humanity by standing by her beliefs to the very end really was impressive. There's nothing as beautiful and deadly as a whole wave of sats falling on your head. That was quite the pep talk from Matsumoto though. To pour your heart into something is to put all your effort into doing something you enjoy. Overall an excellent ep that combined great tension, action, revelation and grief over all the lives that were lost when trying to find the answer that is needed. The do over was an excellent step but the emotional cost sure is starting to pile up on Diva. Looking forward to seeing the finale next week.

And even the mission to shut down Archive was utter failure and the satelites crashed on earth, truly a scene of carnage. It was full of despair.

Vivy's inner conflict was portrayed really well and Vivy from this episode seriously reminded me of Violet from when she didn't knew what is love.

With that here it is folks, Vivy and Matsumoto time leaps one last time to save humanity. Can't wait for the finale, it will be epic.

backwards time travel is really just like a video game you can respawn on a saved point at any given time

i guess they will keep doing backwards time travel until The Archive is shutdown on the vast parallel timelines or multiverse

and ye Vivy is the first AI to have free will but how to pour your heat into singing though is still a mystery

1 episode left.. and from the preview.. oh boi.. its gonna be a tearjerker heavy episode..
.
for this episode.. atmosphere was tense.. and Vivy failed... :( but she got another chance.. not gonna lie.. for vivy to happily sing the song would've been too out of character for her.. Vivy always had depression.. and she only lived through by the support of other people now presumed dead.. but they did helped her one way or another..

This is literally the nightmare that humans imagine every time they think about what would happen if AI took over the planet. Here it is. This is the answer to those questions. Man... what a rollercoaster this episode was. The Archive gave Vivy one chance to save humanity by singing the songs she wrote over the past 100 years. But, since she doesn't know what is the heart and what it meant to pour your heart into something, she couldn't do it.

And, as a result, Vivy couldn't save the future. But, lucky enough Osamu knew that something's going on with Vivy and he sent her back for one more time to save humanity but this time instead of saving Osamu, go for Yui and Elizabeth. Great episode. This is literally her test from what she learnt from her experience over the past 100 years.

that means all humans that died on the satellites fall impact are dead in the next past timeline they jump in? how can you explain that Toak leader being alive in the ending scene when Vivy protected her when she was dead on the first part of the episode?

I'm a little torn with this episode. I think it is great how they set up the final episode. However, it's pretty obvious now how the series is going to end. I'm torn for that reason as to whether I liked it or not. Having them just send Vivy back in time again seems like it wasn't the best ending. I feel like they could've just done without having her sent back again. I like it because it's more of an emotional rollercoaster this way. While watching this episode and seeing Vivy fail at saving the human race, I felt true despair. I can't wait till next week and to the conclusion of this anime. Overall it's been a great ride.

you mean that gun shots scene on Doctor Matsumoto? then that part is confusing then to me since i interpret that gun shots on him as still part of the previous timeline

10/5 for me hands down.

Once again a fire episode. I just hope the finale can offer enough closer without ending up rushed. A satisfying conclusion and the mission "Vivy Greatness" is accomplished.

The plan for A.I.s to wipe out humanity, and Vivy being the only one who can stop this plan, the entire timeline explored and revealed.

It's The Archive's mission to destroy humanity, yet the disruption of Vivy (and Matsumoto's) Singularity Project had helped paved the way for revisions (that unfortunately couldn't stop the A.I. destruction), even at failure. So it is, that the A.I.s had offered Vivy another chance to save humanity by going back in present time to commit to her mission to sing the song she created 15 years ago (towards the end of the 100-year timeline) with all her heart to save the ONE future they could salvage, all for evolution. So that small girl Luna who looked after Vivy in Epsiode 1 was Osamu's daughter, who was KIA in the brutal retaliation against man and machine.

Since this episode is a "Refrain", it meant that by hook or by crook, Vivy must stop the Archive's Arashiki Tower server's berserking to do her mission, which unforunately ended in failure, and concluded the war towards the win of A.I.s with the destruction of the Earth.

Another chance with Osamu to do the exact mission he did in Episode 1 and add the events of last episode, to REDO everything from scratch, now that they know what's gonna happen, it's up to fate to finally commit and go all-out to save humanity.

More than pumping out great episodes, every episode feels DAMN SHORT. I need that ending ASAP next week!

So the Archive wants to further human evolution and so what does it do? That's right destroy humanity ,because that makes a lot of sense doesn't it ? Also it gives Vivy a chance to prove that humanity can do some things that AI can't. How does it want her to prove this? By having her, an AI, sing a song that she made herself. All this does is prove that AI can do exactly what humans can lol.

How convenient that now they can only travel to the exact point that the AI went berserk. Why? No reason given, they just wanted to raise the stakes.

I was hoping that at the very least they would have an original reason for the Archive going rogue. But no we're treated to the same thing that happens in every AI apocalypse fiction ie Humans bad therefore must destroy them.

Uhhhh, am i the only one who finds the writing in this show to be... subpar? Like i still find it enjoyable, but its really just because of the visuals/music, and if it did have meh productions values, i dont think i would like it all that much. For example, lets be honest, the AI, out of nowhere, saying that vivy needs to sing to stop the robots is just incredibly convenient and doesnt make much sense whatsoever. The fact that the doctor survived a shit ton of satellites is also really weird and convenient. The bad AI says they made sure the timeline would be the same because they were watching vivy and making changes, but they dont even say what those changes were. Like there are so many problems like this, that make me like the show a lot less, again its still a show i enjoy, but i wanted more.

I am not one to normally give a 9 out before the final episode but I am pretty sure my score is sealed, the series does not even have to stick the landing at this point. This was great, its everything I wanted out of the anime from its premise, I just wish the final antagonist had better reasons or explanations on why they wiped people out.

So, is there any reason they can't send Matsumoto back in time again? Now that he knows the reason the whole AI uprising occurs and has a better grasp of the events involved, surely making him restart from zero would have a much greater chance of success than sending Vivy back a few hours. Maybe I missed an explanation as to why that can't happen, I don't know. As it is, though, it seems like they only did it this way in order to kill Osamu off, ensuring there wouldn't be any further attempts at carrying out the Singularity Project in order to raise the stakes.

''Humanity is in your hands, Vivy''. Seems like she got another chance to save them all.
Turns out the Archive planned everything since the beginning. Thought about a lot of futures that could happen later. And every future was the same. Humanity was doomed to fail.

The reason why the AI's are singing Vivy's song is because they see her as ''the new humanity''' or well close to that.
They wanted to show that they're as good as humans, and that's why they sang that song.
The Archive gave Vivy a future, one future.. to stop the AI's and save humanity by singing her song. But she wasn't able to do that. ''Heart'', seems like she still doesn't know the meaning of it. After 100 years, not a single thing definition..

One more time Vivy..

Oh yeah i agree. my main problems with this show is that there were a lot of plot conveniences here and there like when Vivy went to the exact spot where the Toak guy was about to drown. Or Vivy could just leave the park whenever she felt like it. I only forgave it a bit because this is an one-cour series they don't have time to cover it all.

No if u think it was simply because human's bad like what every AI apocalypse fiction told us then you clearly didn't pay attention. It was totally different. I even found it weird. Watch it again i won't tell you.

To be honest at this point I just wanna hear her song,it’s not that the anime is bad but if you choose AI and humanity based story it always revolves around bots not having heart(soul) and trying to destroy humanity and them always failing to do so,I enjoyed the journey much more cause I always knew what the goal will look like
