| Well, there is always that sweet caring girl who gets kidnapped, some anime girls are so cute you feel the urge to protect them and kick the bad guys. My favorite is Inoue Orihime from Bleach, all that fighting because of her, all that blood and sacrifice made a good watch and Orihime is a great character, you have to save her at any cost. Protect that chest, I mean smile. |

| Probably Ciel from Black Butler. In his case, being a literal child makes it pretty excusable. I wouldn't really expect him to know how to fight that well. Though, it wasn't really the damsel in distress part that makes him a good character. If anything, him being so reliant on Sebastian was actually one of the more annoying parts of his character as he hardly got to shine as a character in his skills because the show was so focused on showing Sebastian's demon powers. I'm aware Ciel has his cool moments as a mastermind, but I feel like that wasn't often enough. |

First of all, she went to Hueco Mundo out of her own volition, she wanted to protect her friends (she was manipulated by Ulquiorra but what can you do, she was 16 and she thought Ichigo was weak for he couldn't even beat Yami before), when she was there she never cried and when she saw Ichigo she didn't ask for help even once, she only said to him: "please don't get hurt". She cried for Ichigo and said "help me" only after Ichigo died 100%, she was too ashamed to ask help from him. Orihime really has honor and weak as she was, she went to Soul Society for Rukia, that's what friendship means. |

 Fuu Kasumi from Samurai Champloo is a very classic one. Honorable mentions to Casca (Berserk) and Mine Fujiko (Lupin III), who both double as heroine and damsel - whatever the story needs. A very special case are both Utena and Anthy (Revolutionary Girl Utena), where the damsel in distress trope is deconstructed on multiple levels. |

| Hmm ye it's strange that it's such a common trope in western animation (especially Disney) then when it comes to anime I can't think of many. So out of the few I can think of I've always like Orihime from Bleach and also Holly from Jojo is a nice spin on a damsel in distress. |
