Even as a ghost, Mitsuba is hilarious. A bit rude as a character but that brings out more amusing moments out of his character.

The monster of the week took on such a hideous appearance though.

Bruh things getting real from here... This episode hurt way more than in the manga (for me). Poor Mitsuba did nothing wrong, he is kinda rude (but this is hilarious and i love him for this) but he only wanted a friend, he didn't deserve this...

Also Tsukasa expressions (colored) made he seems more "brutal" here too...

Kou's pain, and Hanko meeting Tsukasa were also really sad to watch

i wonder...

Anyway, Great episode

I thought this was going to be a cute comedy... and now I'm crying like a little bitch! Sweet little Mitsuba didn't deserve the horror he went through and he had just found the friend he always wanted in Kou 😭

I really want that evil little bastard Tsukasa to go through the same horrific thing he put Mitsuba through and honestly, he deserves much worse. No one upsets my three sweet children and gets away with!

Yay, no delay this week. It's up on time on Funi

Holy shit. I knew Ikari's seiyuu was in this, but I didn't know this was gonna become End of Eva. Looks like we've reached the turning point. Mitsuba deserved so much better.Seeing Hanako genuinely shaken and afraid was also a big departure from what we're used to.

Glad I picked up this series, ended up getting the manga as well because I really really love the world, setting and characters. Wish it weren't so slept on

This episode was so sad, I never expected this series to make me cry.

I was getting some BL vibes at the start, and I was totally shipping them, but then it all came crashing down.

RIP to my new favorite girly boy, you will be missed.

WOW. I did not expect this level of feels, nor this level of angst and drama from this series. I mean I did think it would get twisted at one point or another, but not like this. The BL vibes were funny and heartwarming and then it just took U-turn into beautiful wrapped in tragedy. There's a reason I avoid such series ffs.... =/

Nene didn't utter a single line and all we see of her is from behind for a couple seconds, but it doesn't matter. This was the best, most affecting, most devastatingly beautiful episode of Hanako-kun to date. RIP Mitsuba Sousuke!

When Mitsuba attacked Kou, it genuinely scared me. The sound effects were on point! And Hanako's view on the existence of apparitions honestly hurt me. That means he also sees himself as a burden on humanity. My poor baby.

Such a bittersweet episode but absolutely my favorite one in this series so far! I feel horrible that it had to happen as it did, but I hope in the end they received peace of mind knowing they had one friend who would NEVER forget them.

Got chills from this episode.

It's becoming pretty obvious by now that Tsukasa probably abused Hanako... It's really heartbreaking to hear him say that his afterlife (including his time with Nene and Kou) is meaningless.

Beautiful & Sad ep T.T ...But I loved seeing Tsukasa animated! He looked so evil. I think he is an interesting anime villain. ( one of my fav) Can't wait for the next ep. The only thing that upsets me so how are they going to fit 3 vols in 4 eps?

Mitsuba is totally into Kou. But Kou doesn't fully developed his sexual orientation yet. Kou still think himself as straight because he doesn't have a boy he like yet, and since Mitsuba which is his biggest test is gone he can continue to be straight (for a while).

The ghost Mitsuba was just damn hilarious, and for Kou to interrogate him, wow the comedy LOLs

For such a student-turned-apparition like Mitsuba, his life was nothing but a series of unfortunate misunderstandings, and Kou having missed him once when he was still alive, he makes it a point to be friends with him even in his dead state. "Something that means a lot to me..." is the vantage talking point of friendship.

But to see Tsukasa infiltrate past the both of them in a flash...it's just sad, not on the part of being Hanako's twin brother, but also being bait to Sakura's rumours which is just plain evil and devilish, and striking chords with intense feels (which I DID NOT see this coming).

At long last, Hanako to the rescue, but with Kou physically and Hanako mentally abused like mad from Tsukasa's fear. The terms that Nene learned early from him, now Kou learns it too, with serious consequences. Tsukasa needs to be stopped at all costs, whilst his evil lurks like a villain.

What a beautiful yet tragic and depressing episode, very, very intense fear striking from within, all is done and IMO the best episode so far.

RIP comedic ghost Mitsuba, we will remember you.

Mitsuba just wanted to have friends and be remembered. Kou granted his wish, without even realizing it, and I'm sure he was almost at peace with this world. That he would move on, things didn't have to end like this. Tsukasa is twisted. He didn't grant Mitsuba's wish at all, he turned him into a monster deprived of reason. I don't know what's the deal with Tsukasa, but he is most certainly the one behind Amane's constant wounds, and the one who pushed him to the point of killing him. Possibly accidentally since Hanako is still afraid of him, and seems to feel really guilty about it too. And I get the message here, that there's no future for those who are dead no matter how much you regret what you did or didn't do. But watching Kou trembling and crying was really hard. I wasn't ready for this. Kou also felt frustrated for being weak, he wish he could have done something more for Mitsuba. He was hurt both physically and emotionally by Tsukasa. For now at least, I really hope he doesn't forgive him like he told Hanako he won't. This certainly wasn't for the best. Tsukasa and those two are the cause behind the apparitions going berserk, and they clearly need to be stopped if things like this are going to continue to happen. And that photo Mitsuba took of Kou... "Something that means a lot to me." His first and only friend...

he can be bisexual though. he kinda has a crush on nene, but when he was defeated by hanako in ep 2 he was sorta blushing at him and there were roses surrounding them. He was blushing a little at mitsuba too.

Thinking a little further.... It would have been nice if the most-obviously-not-completely-straight character hadn't been the one to get killed off, practically immediately at that. Yes, I realise there's probably nothing to it, no deeper meaning, no any actual intention behind it, or any such. But the fact remains, it is what happened, and it's just unfortunate.

Mitsuba was a sad case, his interactions with Kou were very heartwarming. Even though they didn't have much time together, his death (x2) was depressing. Tsukasa is evil for sure, the way he turned Mitsuba into an evil spirit was horrible. I can sympathize with him though because he was murdered by his twin. Hanako at least regrets it.

Hanako's philosophies about 'death being the end' and 'no salvation for the dead' got under my skin, and Kou's as well. Mitsuba was very close to peacefully moving on, he seemed ready for it in a bittersweet way when he told Kou to come to develop the photos with him. Great one episode story.

And another case of shippers who can't tell a difference between friendship and love. Same ppl who are saying that Shinji is gay because he blushed when the first and only person said that he likes him. Seriously, how deep BL got in your brains?
Also - again problems with facial animations (too long sets).

What the hell I thought Mitsuba would somehow be able to come back. This was just too sad, both for Mitsuba and Kou. Tsukasa turning Mitsuba into an evil spirit was heartbreaking.
Their friendship was heartwarming and cute, even if it was cut short. Even after death, at least Mitsuba will be remembered by the precious friend he made. He seemed at peace when he took a photo of Kou tbh.

I guess Tsukasa abused Amane and that's why the latter killed him..? It will be interesting to see more about the siblings.

Come on though, a boy secretly taking a photo of another boy is pretty gay.

I'm not a fujoshi but even I can see the BL vibes here. And I'll eat a hat if Mitsuba was supposed to be heterosexual; he was ridculously effeminate, not just with looks, but personality, voice, traits, the way he dressed even the poses he made screamed "Girl". lol

Or MAYBE he just wanted to save a moment when he met his first friend. There is a lot of characters in the anime who have female looks/traits, but are not gay.

Gonna be honest, I'm not a big fan of Mitsuba. He's probably one of my least favorite characters despite his sad backstory and how pained Kou was. Lots of people who are calling Mitsuba best boy are probably shipping him hard with Kou. I'm not a fan of yaoi either but Lemon x Aoi is better tbh. I guess Mitsuba's personality just kills it for me.

I felt bad for Mitsuba but I didn’t really get any time to grow attached to the character.
