In H&E it's kind of an unspoken rule to at least send a ping to the person, or respect it in general if they don't want pics posted of their waifu. In circumstances like that, a circle of sorts, it's easier to respect a character as "theirs," even if we're no small circle, so I don't see it as an issue in that context. At large and in public, though, it's something absurd to demand or expect and if people find it frustrating they should definitely curb that.
I'm in the camp that doesn't care at all if other people lewd Run, though, so eh. I kind of get the thought process behind it, but at the same time I couldn't even convince myself to follow that mentality if I wanted to. It just isn't the way I'm wired. It'd be *nice* if I could have that exclusivity, sure, but it's outside of reality given that it's a character from a fictional work, and on top of that it isn't at all an issue if people find her hot or something. Also, she's from TLR, which in of itself is another reason not to mind given how the source material she's from is really, really ecchi. It isn't in my control, basically, and I don't even think it's a problem that it's not in my control, people should have that liberty with fiction.
I absolutely do not refuse to lewd her myself, though :P That "Waifus aren't for lewd" mentality doesn't make sense to me either, even less so than "Nobody except me pls." I mean, obviously she isn't waifu material if you only view her for lewd, that's just having a boner and I firmly believe character takes precedent when claiming a character to be that for you, though there's nothing wrong with it either. Lewding a character doesn't devalue that you like the character for themselves at all whatsoever, and that's what the underlying sentiment behind that way of thinking always felt like to me, trying too hard to distance their appreciation for the character from being perceived as exclusively as much and trying to emphasize appreciation for the character themselves. If somebody thinks lewding a character is tantamount to exclusively viewing them through that lens, though, then I'd just think they're the ones operating in irrational extremities given the basis they're forming that interpretation of your view of the character on and pretty much binning their judgement seems like common sense to me. |
