Damn, they lost the match.
I love seeing Taichi's frustrated face whenever Chihaya talks about Arata.

I'm not entirely convinced Chihaya is "in love" with Arata yet. I think she views him as more of an idol figure. Imagine if your idol, the person you looked up to the most, sent you an email out of the blue. That's probably what Chihaya felt when she got that random email from Arata - at least that's MY theory anyways. The fact that they barely communicate with other only adds to her god-like perception of him. And my poor dude Taichi...to him it probably just looks like Chihaya is crushing on Arata big time. Dude just can't catch a break, lol. I'm rooting for Chihaya x Taichi till the very end, but this show has never really been about romance so I really have no idea if any satisfying resolution will come out of it. It's hard to tell at this point.

Also, I love that this show actually shows characters losing, even the most experienced players. You never truly know who's going to win and that's what makes this show so damn fun to watch.

What an intense match. That was a smart strategy by Hokuo but it's hard to beat Misuzawa's sheer determination and spunk. I felt bad for Porky beating himself up the whole time. And Sudo's voice is...mmm...

Damn, episodes this season fly by so fast, I don't even notice how fast time flies... One of my favorite episodes so far, was really intense and intriguing! Great episode.

Lol, I was getting totally lost on Hokuo's strategy, so the old man's explanation actually helped me a lot.

I don't like how they present those luck of the draw matches. All the time the Mizusawa side goes on attack, already believing their card is not going to get read and then it comes down to that. I don't hate it but I also don't quite like how it ends

The tension was enormous!

They lost with Hokuo, but qualified to the nationals.

Hyoko lost to his nerves. I hope he is gonna be better at controlling his own stress.

That split was pretty interesting. Hokuo definitely has experience in team matches. It's unfortunate that they won because of that though. Seems kinda bull shitty. Decent episode overall. Chihaya was in the zone and everyone played really well. Even so this really should've been an easy win for her. Wtf was the first half of her match anyway? Did they nerf Chihaya cause she was too good in S1?

They had to ruin the good first ep run of season 2 by having the whole team lose so they could show Chihaya's shitty copying of the king and queen? Fucking ridiculous, they already pulled this crap in this first season when chihaya went against Shinobu and the last ep of season 1 where they said that she's one card away from being as good as the master. Wtf, didn't chihaya learn from her match against the nitpicky chick that she should contest every card or is this author basically telling us that such behavior shouldn't be emulated ?

The whole match felt so contrived. The other team was much stronger last season and they still won pretty decisively, but now after everyone has grown so much in their play they somehow were tied throughout the whole match ?

I don't even know why Porky is blaming himself when chihaya noticed the plan of the other team at the last moment. Which would be excusable if she atleast was wiping the floor with the short guy,but she fucking wasn't. Seems like we went back to the trope of excusing Chihaya's shitty behavior.

This episode really fucking sucked.

Interesting that Amakasu straight-up admitted that Chihaya was the better player.

That was a great match. I never imagined these matches would be so intense when I started the series.

I like how Chihaya's best match yet was against Amakasu, who you wouldn't expect to be that good. I hope both of them get even better in the future.

BUT AHHH!!!
It was intense the game, and apparently they 2 (well 5) are going to join that society. It was a good chapter.

I was so nervous! That was just amazing and intense. My heartbeat was racing. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I was so frustrated that Chihaya lost at the end there just because her speed was the same as Amakusa's...

But damn, that was an amazing match. Probably my favourite so far. I'm still calming down even now lol

Amazing how Chihaya is getting better and better. She's trying to use as many skillsets as possible.

And I'm excited to see the improvement of Tsukuba-kun, but especially Sumire-chan!

I feel you, Taichi... I hope Chihaya ends up with Taichi :(

Really strategic there of Hokuo by utilising the 50-50 card split chances in the luck-of-draw, if only the whole Misuzawa team would've noticed before it was too late. Still good close match there.

Surprisingly satisfying conclusion for a loss. All of the OG five have clearly gotten way stronger and Chihaya is finally willing to (sort of) contest a card.

Awesome to see the new members being inspired to get serious too.

One of the best matches so far in the series. This high school tournament arc turned out to be quite a bit better than the last one, and this was a great way to end it off. I quite like how the author primed us with prior "50/50 matches" to believe that nothing could be done but to leave it mostly up to luck, where this is definitely not the case at least in a team match. Though they still lost in the end to the other team's clever tactics, Mashima gave them a fighting chance, even if partially unintentionally -- this was a neat way to cement the notion that luck isn't his core problem after what the senseis had said about him previously.

I'm glad they explained the "splitting the cards" bit in more detail because that flew over my head while I was watching it.

I will say that, they probably still would've won had the reader for this match not been on the opposing team a mere year ago. Then again, no "but"'s!

It's the final round match in the Tokyo selection. It is the repeat of last year's match between Mizusawa and Hukou. Nishida has lost his match so the rest must win in order to be the champion.

And the love triangle strikes again with the girl who doesn't love either of them.

That was too dang close.
