THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

This is pretty interesting. We got Mob following on the trails of the crime that leads to a mysterious organization, Claw.

I think it's also cool to see more abilities used in this series in some classic fights. Is the world really ready for a new world? Heh, I wonder. Pretty cool episode. They got some tough enemies to deal with.

The eyecatch is cool but I wished they showed Teru's whole fight with that Claw fodder because his line "Through effort, I am now an exception" is great.
Toichiro and Super 5 looks really young in the anime.

Man that fake death bait last ep tho, still, t'was pretty epic seeing Mob pissed like that, been a while since I've seen him flip out.

The episode needed more Mob! but then again I understand that they needed to build up the bad guys so its all cool.
Can't wait for whats about to come! this shit is gonna be one epic clash.
World domination team V NO TO WORLD DOMINATION team.

Obsessed Mob was pretty terrifying. Reminded me of his angry mode when he fought Dimple. At least his family is ok. Claw appears once again and we get to see their leader and the five strongest Espers of the organization. Really cool to see all those former Claw members again. Teru got rekt hard by that Super 5 Esper.

One thing I love about how ONE tackle the cliche of world domination is how the antagonists are the ones who had to face an upward battle. World domination itself is a foolish idea and opposition is a given when you childishly pursue it. Claw's plan to destroy society as we know it is one that's full of holes - and it's only a matter of time before the flaws in the plan catches up to them.

Fuck man, kinda disappointed. Last episode's cliffhanger was fake and even the happenings in this episode were boring.

Mob was beyond ticked, but was obsessed badly. Thank goodness someone managed to stop his rampage before he would've been found out by Claw themselves. Man Mob's parents death was such a troll. I freaking lost it hard maybe laughing because of the Onsen tickets. I wonder why the son wants to take down his father anyways. Is it because he is just insane that he wnats to stop him? Or is it that he wants to take over the organization to make it better? I do not know. Hopefully the answer will come soon enough.XD anyways I am glad to see former members of Claw became good people thanks to freaking Reigen himself. Aside from that a declaration of war is just something else, Next episode is going to get out of control.

well, this was the first episode this season to be this comedy-heavy. that's an important part of Mob as well

i guess people will be a little upset over that overdramatized cliffhanger, but oh well. it's a build up episode anyways, with the introduction the elite Ultimate 5 of the Claw and the boss himself

oh thank god the bodies were dummies. seeing the family alive was a huge relief honestly - they really left us on a damn cliffhanger that last episode huh?

the former members of claw went to reigen. they went to reigen. i mean i understand but that's still probably the funniest thing i've heard in a while :')

I hate fake deaths, but I would've hated a real death in this anime.

The main villain got made fun of online. That was so random.

I wondered how the villain's son would react to the broadcast, and I was not disappointed. It was hilarious seeing the kid embarrassed.

Reigen is still awesome.

We finally get to see Hanazawa properly. I was really missing him.

I was considering the possibility of some people not watching TV when the Claw were broadcasting their plan. Never thought the main characters would miss that broadcast. hahaha

Honestly, I expected them to be actually dead, after all they actually were dummies, damn. World domination huh? That seems interesting, seems like this is the ultimate arc of this season. The espers actually are powerful, those guys are genuinely strong, though Mob could probably easily beat all of them up in an instant. Good episode regardless.

Imo it was a shame what Mob Psycho did to us.
I mean, I expected more than a cheap trick from this series.
Giving us a giant plot twist killing Mob's family, forcing us to wait one week and then saying "nah fam it was a joke everyone's ok and Mob is no longer out of control" is fucking low, dude.

Yeah I find it way too lame. I would expect that from some shonen or isekai, but Mob Psycho is one of my fav anime from the recent years and I was pretty dissappointed seeing that bait here. Dororo made the same thing last week, so I'm losing interest in those two shows if they're gonna treat me like a retard with no critical view.

Plus Reigen and Dimple don’t really know if they are actually alive so they had to lie to Mob.

That's actually a bad mindset. Dead or not, Mob genuinely thought they're dead, and perceived the situation as if they were actually dead. I'm glad they're not dead actually, if they were, the plot couldn't develop to how it did.

Well,in the manga there was no cliffhanger so the situation resolves immediately,it just bones decided to end episode 8 on that moment.Besides,it would be too stupid for Shou who acted smart and rebelous to his father in s1 to just kill his parents for no reasons, you should have expected that.At least he achieved what he wanted and made Mob ready to rip and tear his enemies.

3 different characters explain their powers unprompted. for how good the art is, the scripts are frustratingly amateur, and i mean legitimately amateur, as if written by a college student in a scriptwriting 101 class. every character has to explain every little detail that doesn't matter, like how hanazawa tells the guy from claw how he ended up sensing him in the park. there's so much dumb shit that the audience doesn't really need to know that is spoonfed to them for no real reason, sometimes to the point of actually hurting the show. the uneasiness surrounding the veracity of dimple's attempt to calm mob down would have actually been materialized if they didn't spell it out for the audience by having reigen ask dimple if he was lying or not. they didn't need to do this, especially since 5 minutes later it's confirmed his family is unharmed anyway. this is just redundant, useless writing and it's actively bad.

I'm not saying this series has stellar writing all the time but it was mentioned that most of the Claw members are childish and had basically no real life social interaction.

And a lot of main characters are literally 13 year old. of course Teru may be irresponsible, he's a kid

i think you kind of missed the point of that dialogue with dimple and reigen. it's more for the sake of showing their character development rather than creating suspense regarding whether mob's family is okay. dimple specifically is a character who previously only lied to mob for the sake of using him. instead, him and reigen both decide to lie to mob for the sake of protecting him, even though they both know he would hate both of them for it if he found out.

those excuses don't really work when it's a uniform problem for every character. that white smoke guy was working for the government for money, so why did he have to tell the guy he's trying to beat how his power works? and these are examples from this episode alone. you can find these things just as easily in every episode thus far.

not really, your logic doesn't really even follow. even if it's "about character development" that doesn't take away from the fact that the whole scene was cut into a cliffhanger in the last episode, i.e. it was directed completely for suspense for the next episode. i'm told it's not separate chapters in the manga and that the ambiguity of dimple's lie to mob is more evident than in the anime. how it's cut in the anime is completely for suspense, the viewer can't stop thinking "is mob's parents dead or not" because of how the scene was cut, so any consideration for "character development" plays a back seat. my observation isn't a criticism on what it should be, more so it's based on what was actually intended.
also what makes you think dimple lied solely "for the sake of protecting him?" mob goes out to antagonize claw anyway, so that idea falls flat. it's a little more obvious that dimple lied to mob so mob wouldn't go ballistic and hurt everyone and everything around him, i think your reading is a bit nebulous.

my point was that the scene with reigen and dimple wasn't actually redundant, as you stated before. it was highlighting their desire to protect mob emotionally, and FROM HIMSELF, not from claw. that's why mob thanks dimple for stopping him from going on a total rampage. of course, you can have whatever interpretation you like. :)

protecting mob emotionally and from himself are pretty much the same thing, and the implication of protecting mob from himself is so that his powers wouldn't be fully unleashed and go haywire, harming everything around him, which is exactly what i said. there's no delineation between preventing mob from hurting others and "protecting mob from himself" because it's the same thing. you're interpreting the scene based on your own understanding, but it just doesn't make sense from how the initial scene in mob's burning house was cut for suspense. why would the director emphasize development of side characters instead of answering the question that every viewer has is wondering? the intent is clear, i think your reading is intentionally obtuse.

The people complaining about the fake bodies and Mob not going psycho kill everyone mode are missing the point of the series. Sure it would be an interesting twist but that's not what Mob is about.

Anyway, 100% Obsession Mob was badass and scary at the same time, thank Reigen for diffusing the situation. Also Ultimate 5 introduction and they seem quite powerful. Things are really picking up now!
