haha, what bakas they are. XD Usopp and Zoro, and even Luffy, but then again, they're just being themselves. XD

And there's no way that Sanji will beat Kalifa.

Is it just me or did like all the straw hats suddenly become alot more skilled and stronger. Excluding luffy with his gear 2nd of course. But its like during water 7, they never stood a chance in hell against the CP9, now suddenly there on equal terms with them. Especially zoro. he has really increased his fighting abilities to a huge extent, before water 7, he was never that great of a swordsman. It kind of seems a bit off to me. Though i won't deny it, the fighting scenes in this arc are incredible.

Also where did luffy learn these new abilities suddenly like gear 2nd. Its weird because hes been with the crew members the whole time, he had no time to learn any new skills. Guess will find out bout that later.

I'm sure there is going to be some flash back or something to explain at least the Gear power, but I was wondering about Zoro and crews abilities as well. How the hell are they so powerful now?

I dont think their much more powerfull, its just those CP9 guys caught them of guard. You have to think about it. They had other things on their mind. Usopp left, Robin disappeared, and the CP9 uses skills they had never seen before. Now they know what to expect. They just were fighting half assed in water 7. If you wathed Franky vs Blueno for the first time where Franky grabbed Blueno's face, you could already see they werent as invincible as they thought. So I think its not a difference in strenght but more a difference in knowledge of the opponent.

Zoro commented several episodes ago on how they all got stronger without realizing it, but I think the main thing is... as Nami said to an enemy several episodes ago, one tends to hold back when they are unsure of something. Now that they know Robin wants to be with them, there is no holding back, and they are fighting at 100%.

Except for Sanji's perverted ass, who never ceases to piss me off, and Usopp, who I hope at SOME point eventually stops being a blatant coward. Those two piss me off to no extent. Give your all or die, bakas.

You know, while I can both understand and get behind the whole men shouldn't hit women thing, I think pretty much everyone would agree that chivalry needs to be tossed aside when the woman is not only trying to kill you but has the skills to do so. Not to mention that his life isn't the only one on the line.

Anyway, I'm watching the dub so this is where I stop until the next voyage. I'll probably get into the manga instead since, the pacing has been annoying me and I hear it just gets worse.

Some truth in that, but as a woman yourself, you cannot understand man's mentality when it comes to that, that's why.

Still it feels really wrong to see Sanji kicking a woman, really.

Ugh, I was hoping for a badass Zoro and Usopp team-up. That would've been interesting to watch. But nope, Usopp ruined everything; though he had a nice idea. I just want to see them fight, dammit.

It was a frustrating episode overall. Usopp, Luffy, and Sanji all irritated me.

I did question about the sudden increase though Luffy did explain to Blueno that after observing them that he was able to pick up their super fast speed as well. In regards to Zoro, he hasn't really fought much has he? He basically slept on the pirate ship, and then Lucci knocked both him and Luffy miles away.

I get what your saying though, personally I didn't expect Sanji to even be able to keep up with Califa...kinda convenient.... they all did change outfits which was some sorta powerup as well? xDDDD

Also on another note, it was pretty awesome seeing Chopper take on a saving role and save Nami =) And I'm glad he got his normal voice..some of those episodes he sounded so off.....

Always wondered what'd happen of Sanji got pitted against a woman when he's such a white knight.
Ofc the outcome was obvious...but I bet people were pretty mad when this initially aired.

But Sanji's not gonna beat up a lady! It'd go against everything we've seen of him so far & honestly I'd lose respect for him if he harped on about his chivalry and then changed tune right at the last minute.
Lol it was surprising enough that he called Kalifa a witch and actually fought at all 😂

I love the irony that in trying to defend women, Sanji ends up getting his ass saved by one- Nami.

Anyway, can't wait to see Nami vs Kalifa...now that is a fight I'm pretty hyped for. I always like seeing Nami fight...oh and Zoro too.

Mainly bc we see a lot of their thought processes during battles. Like Zoro's development usually occurs when he fights and Nami's ideas are always fun to watch!

Leaving aside that Kalifa is supposedly one of best assassins in the world and Sanji won't treat her skills/strength with respect.

Sanji is still a shallow ass.
He is in a situation where it is either Kalifa or Robin -by choosing not to fight Kalifa, he by default chose to not to fight FOR Robin.

Which implies that his feelings to save/protect women close to him (ie. Robin) rivals his feelings for any random attractive women, even superhuman murders.

Also more of the 'the only person who can beat a women is another (weaker) women' BS.

Even the recap was hysterical mixing in together all the best moments of last episode.

Now that Usopp is cuffed with Zoro my dream of Zoro cuffing himself to one of the baddies is gone but it creates an even cooler situation, potentially. Assuming the two will fight before getting freed it's created a set up where Zoro and Usopp will have to show their teamwork while cuffed together to excel and beat two non cuffed allies who refuse to work together. Kaku and Jabra remind me of Sanji and Zoro's relationship. I loved how Kaku and Jabra tried to uncuff them for their own sake so they could each have one.

And Chopper confirms my suspicion! He's out of play here to be a support in all the fights and that's really cool. Nami already lost and if not for Chopper she would have been dead. It's expected the Straw Hats will come out on top but with Chopper being key in this it makes it so that the way they will should be unpredictable.

It's kinda crazy how comedic this showdown has become. I was expecting something far more intense, however, even with a comedy-centric showdown it's still intense. I can't quite place why this works so well yet.

Franky's line about how Iron Body won't work because no matter how close they get his fists are real iron, was awesome. It's also a reminder on how much Nero must have hurt getting punched with some pure iron like that.

I enjoy how Khalifa is the only CP9 member that decided to stall for time by non violent means. She made tea and flirted with Sanji instead. Also, if Sanji threw the moral code he lives by out the window for one fight because it got tough I too like many others here would think far less of him. It's impractical but he's decided to stick by it. Is it stupidity or chivalry? Either way, I think it's respectable to some extent. Plus, seeing him win against Khalifa numerous times in theory without laying a hand on her sent a message that I hope affected her. I wonder what her power is that made Sanji look like a doll...

I think there is some good truth to the question of "how did the Straw Hats get this strong?", but I think it's excusable. Like one poster here @reaght put it, the first time they got in a fight with them they were completely off guard. They had no idea people could even do the things they were doing. Further, at this point in the series they didn't have the go ahead on protecting Robin, they didn't know how she really felt and they could not give it their all. Lastly, Zoro did say each and everyone of them naturally got much stronger without even realizing it. To them they've just been adventuring and taking the battles as they've come, just like how we've thought of it. And, I think to put us in the same situation as them, it's cool. Just like they didn't realize how strong they got, we didn't either.

All that said, it could have been done better no doubt. It's just definitely excusable and maybe even good, we'll see in time! :)

Lastly, Chimney came to the rescue once more!!! She's the real star of this arc.

Kaku and Jabra at least considering unlocking Usopp and Zoro's handcuffs was a really funny thing. It's too bad that they didn't have the right keys.

As much as that Kabuki weirdo is ridiculous, he really nearly killed Nami in a very brutal way and that's pretty screwed up. It's miraculous that Chopper was able to save her at the last second. The same goes for Chimney walking into Luffy drowning but in a sillier way.

I hope that dreadful experience with Kalifa would teach him to fawn over the right women instead of every single one including the crazy bitches that openly try to kill him but it's nice of Nami to understand Sanji's predicament anyway.

Poor Sanji and his belief in never hitting a woman. While it is understandable, however, under this circumstance, he should really put that aside and focus on saving Robin. Even Nami made a fair point. Hopefully, he'll become stronger when facing any woman in the future. Nami vs Kalifa! Catfight!

Usopp and Zoro got handcuffed together, this just seems like a way to bloat the arc out. It has happened a few times during the series like in the Skypiea arc where Luffy was trapped in the snakes stomach. I hope this improves during the course of the series.

So Chimney’s found the route to the gates of justice, Nami has key number 3 and Franky seems to have no problem fighting Mr Chapapa. Meanwhile Luffy is about drown, Sanji is beaten to a pulp and Zoro + Ussop seem to be having fun. Lol

I’m not sure how Nami intends on fighting Kalifa, but this should be interesting.. maybe Chopper will have to fight again?
