| This is actually a pretty good show. I'm impressed. I thought it mind turn out a lot duller or cliche from the criticism but frankly there aren't many plots that go this way. People need to chill out. The revolver was surprising. I thought they were going for a more medieval fantasy setting (the clothes weren't, but everything else was. Most things beyond medieval technology could be explained by magic), but that style of revolver puts it squarely in a late 19th century equivalent setting. You gotta have enough knowledge in metallurgy and the right tools to make something like that. I was just waiting for it to be some silly magic gun, but this anime doesn't disappoint. It did have 10 shots, but 10 shot revolvers do exist (look at the LeMat revolver, for example. 9 shot cylinder and a shotgun shell). You'd think the Imperial Guards would have had some though. A bullet is faster than a mage's chant. |

| I'm not sure why, but I've only just noticed how weird the female student uniforms are after skimming some reviews. Actually, between the clone Re=L outfits and those school uniforms, I'm guessing the character designer really likes midriffs and upper thighs. Glenn's oddly selective on who he kills. He straight impaled that one kidnapper early on, but he skipped on shooting the fake Re=L brother despite nearly getting killed, Re=L nearly getting converted to evil. and Rumia getting tortured and nearly killed. That is, unless he, well, impaled the kidnapper with that giant sword through the torso in a...non-fatal manner? Lastly, since Glenn owns a revolver, I'm assuming gunpowder exists in this world. In that regard, I'm guessing there's some reason why the Researchers of Divine Wisdom refrain from simply using bombs to assassinate and destroy things. They'd otherwise have to plan around Glenn's magic cancelling card. But yeah, uh, the revolver brings up more comparisons to a certain other former inspiring hero/mage killer from the Type-Moon universe. |
