I started watching anime towards the end of 2012. Ever since then it has become one of my main hobbies.
I recently updated my list. I deleted a lot of entries, especially PTW entries, and I changed a few scores to be more accurate about how I feel about the series I have watched in the past. I still wasn't very harsh. Series that were pretty much crap but I still enjoyed were still kept around 5. In some cases it has been so long since I have watched a series that I felt I had no right to change the score I had given it in the past. You might notice I give 10s to series that people would normally never give a 10 to. That's because I take into consideration the genre. Putting all anime or manga on the same scale compared to each other is rather ridiculous. A comedy can almost never outshine a plot heavy drama. Hence, I rate pure comedies as compared to other pure comedies, pure dramas as compared to other pure dramas, etc, etc. I would still like to come up with a more objective system, but this will have to do for now.
Also, if you're new (or not new) to MAL and for some reason you're looking at my profile, I highly recommend Monia Cafe. It's one of the many clubs on MAL, but imo it is probably the best given its rules, which provide a stress free environment in which you can express your opinions without being worried about ridicule. It's rather nice for someone with an eccentric personality like myself. Most places on the internet will beat you down just for not having the same popular opinion everyone else has, but Monia Cafe is somewhere you can truly express your opinion without worry. As long as you aren't doing hate speech or something ridiculous like that. I'm talking about normal opinions like "I didn't like the new Star Wars movie" or "I think liver is delicious". You can disagree with each other politely and without conflict. Monia Cafe is a bastion of free thought in an otherwise zombie-like internet.
I'm currently teaching English in Russia. It's meh. Saint Petersburg is beautiful though.
