I tried looking for a release of ZZ Gundam that could have only been found on IRC. Turns out their bot is dead and the last safe bastion is BakaBT. So yeah I dunno, IRC is great but it's just as unrelaible. Symphyon said: That's just TokyoTosho's links in a different format. I'll go and add an link for those that are interested. |

Akumaphyre said: Jonesy974 said: Akumaphyre said: Not worried Nyaa has gone down before sure it will be back up. Last time Nyaa was down for an extended period of time was due to a DDoS attack. Completely different situation as compared to what's going on now. Still not worried Herkz is an NT mod,and Herkz says that the screenshot going around is fake. I'm sure Nyaa will be back in a bit. Probably with a new domain. Take anything Herkz says with a grain of salt. Don't forget that walking piece of meme-trash human garbage is also the figurehead of commiesubs. This is the same man-child that picked a fight with horriblesubs because their torrents are more popular than his. I've also heard that the individual who actually owned Nyaa got in contact with people and said the site wasn't coming back...so I guess all we can do is wait and see. And the owner of Nyaa hasn't contacted anyone at all, so... Idk what you're thinking. |

Well that's the sad part about it. And the worst part is that well, regarding on the subject matter... Uh, my Facebook has been pretty shitty regarding on this. It has gotten to the point where its literally shaming people and I mean I don't have anything against those that pays legally. I give them credit to where its due in fact, however they have this mentality where they think they're superior and they won an apparent battle, which in the end it doesn't solve anything. It just makes those that even have no legal grounds have no access to it anymore. |

With BakaBT and Nyaa down it will be harder to get older stuff. New stuff still is available without problems. (HorribleSubs using Magnet links.) I don't see why these court decisions would mean additional trouble for Nyaa. There was one local decision (in the Netherlands I think) about subtitle files (related to non-anime stuff) being illegal - even without providing the video. (Makes sense ... the text also does contain plot info which is protected.) This should not affect Nyaa. (They also provide torrent files for full videos.) The decision from the European court was related to streaming. Distributing stuff (and P2P like torrent where you also upload = distribute) always has been a problem. Then there waqs the download from 1-click hosters (you only download). This also generates an illegal copy which is permanent. The decision about streaming mainly is relevant cause the temporary downloaded data (cache/RAM) which gets deleted after you watched the stream and closed the browser - this was som grey area where local courts didn't deem it illegal. I don't see how this would affect Nyaa. I mean providing torrents (even if you don't provide the data/video files itself but only the torrent file) always has been a problem (depending on where you live ... and how big the torrent website is). In Germany streaming probably only will lead to some compensation/damages. Which is a lot lower than P2P cause the company lost only the money for 1 sale - ... if you had bought it you would have paid. For P2P you might have uploaded it to a lot of other people. (Which does not exactly get measured and they guess/estimate high numbers even if you are a leecher directly stopping the torrent after DL finished.) + The lawyer cost (which is limited in such cases where they only have to write some letter to ask you to pay). Penal law or jail (where the attorneys start investigation) will only happen if you do it in some big manner and are distributing. (And yes for torrent websites this is a problem even if they only provide torrent files. And it has already been before those mentioned court decisions.) |

Since when people stopped downloading in the first place? But to answer your question: people who prefer to save what they watch and have it available at full quality when ready and to watch it offline than to waste 3 hours to load a 20 minutes episode on a streaming service, AND people who know these things won't stay online forever so they save it and keep it in their HDDs in case whatever their streaming website either loses the license or the whole site goes down. |

Also, it's easier to load up a full playlist of anime (BD uncensored eps at that) in MPC-HC from your HDD when you go to bed, rather than leaving your browser open constantly. Streaming is for part-time anime fans. |

I know it's not going to help much, buy you can still browse archived version of nyaa.se on web.archive.org. You can't download torrent files and most likely won't be able to actually enter any of results since these aren't usually archived, but at least its possible to browse for specific torrent names. Managed to find torrent file elsewhere by googling the title of it. |

I don't wanna be that guy but it is piracy. I used Nyaa Torrents up till the day it closed, so of course I am sad it's gone. But I can't really vouch for a site that was breaking the law to begin with. It's a blessing we got away with it for so long. We're just going to have to find another way to get our content. The internet always prevails. We've got the power here. There is no government entity that can stop all of us. |

Looks like Nyaa has run its course. Going trough groups one by one just to find what you're looking for is just troublesome, not like we have any other choice now though. Finding a near perfect copy of their database is hard too. On the other hand, I don't get these people bad mouthing the admin/owner of Nyaa. They benefited a lot from it without even paying. I wonder if they'll take those 20 years in his place. |

Yeah. I googled ... seems like that Anime Bytes is a private site (probably some "Anti Leech Tracker"?) Not worth the trouble - especially since you'd need to somehow get an account there first. (No open registration.) There are still possibilities to get stuff without being forced to upload (seed on an ALT). I really like XDCC (and IRC ... too bad not many people are using IRC anymore nowadays). I might use this as a reason to idle more frequently on Rizon. I also got some Virtual Server (VPS) from a cheap provider that does not allow torrenting (too many hard disk access or some reason ... as it is explained in the rules) - which I use mainly for experimenting with http/css and stuff (own small website and testing and playing around). Might set up an own bot and mirror some of the new and/or non licensed stuff since I have too many free bandwidth which is unused per month ha ha. :D |

This is such a massive blow RIP Old and obscure anime RIP subbed anime that doesn't get licensed by CR/Funi and the like RIP stuff that Netflix picks up and doesn't simulcast and only streams till like 6 months later. Where do you think your lovely streaming sites were getting their shitz? Nyaa was fansub central, any competent fansub group could post their fansub there and everyone would know about it, you post it somewhere else and no one would even know it existed, Nyaa was used to promote your own fansub website. We'll need a new centralized platform like this. |
