I always see ones where the male lead will have a past love and/or ex come back and that causes problems for the male and female lead's relationship. Well are there any where it's someone from the female lead's past that comes back to cause problems? The male and female lead are either together or at that point where they like each other, but then the ex/past love appears.

So past love/ ex of female lead comes back and causes problems for male and female lead's relationship.

Male and female lead still get together though.

Example: Minato, Nagisa's first love, from Yume de Aetera

I mean yeah I guess, but usually these kind of plot points have a huge impact on the story and are a longer focus than a few episodes.

Yeah, but I think in that case, the guy only had feelings for her. I'd like to see ones where if it isn't the female lead's ex, she was the one who loved him.

Example: Yume de Aetera - Nagisa's first love Minato comes back.

Try Rumbling Hearts.

It's quite good. Though probably too dramatic for your taste.

I was nothing until the moment I met you.

Manga Unbalance x Unbalance I think?
Not in the beginning though, I think it's when the manga series almost ended

Read it, it's finished, but I don't remember someone from the female lead's past coming back. Refresh my memory.

It's someone from the male lead's past. His senpai (the girl in the film club), the one who faked amnesia

Hahaha I might just have exactly what you're looking for. Try:
Winter Sonata

and I'm sure you've seen this already:
Orange

It somewhat fits the criteria although...

Masamune-kun's Revenge is about a guy who tries to get back at his childhood crush for rejecting him. Unless that strays too far off.

Yeah, because I want ones where the past love/ex is not the male lead, but the other guy who causes problems for the male and female lead.

Winter sonata has a nice triangle romance with the best EX-Comeback ever in any ANIME
Just don't read the summary of the ANIME at all. Else the whole experience gets ruined.
Just download the episodes (skip episode 0) and start binge watching

what aspect of the female lead did you dislike? What do you think was wrong with her as a character.

That theme crops up in Asatte no Houkou though it's not the primary focus.

Blood+?

There's definitely romance in it, but that's not the primary focus. It also takes a while to wind up... For sure, a guy from MC's past shows up, and it causes some strain in her relationship with her guy.
