43k combined sales for Utapri vol 1... That's a drop all right. And with this year's male idol anime lineup, Utapri could be dethroned as king of male idol anime.

Aww yes, YOI sold 65k copies <3 I'm so glad.
As expected, Utapri will sell a bit lesser than YOI for its first week.
And finally, happy to see Hanamaru in this list, 16k is not that bad, it's really good <3
I'm so happy to see my favorite show selling high.

Prepare urself bro. Ecchi anime targeted for male will be completely gone in 2 years since they don't sell much and more anime like Utapri or YoI will be made lol (just a joke, but who knows).

That aside, I wonder if there are more female anime fans in Japan who got money to spend on their anime compared to the male fans. YoI, Utapri, Toukenranbu released in close period of time but all of them sold well.

Thats exactly what I think.
Making ecchi anime just isnt profitable compared shows like YoI and Utapri which sells like flowers and chocolate on a valentines day. Seriously, why even bother with it at this point?

After so many seasons, Uta-Pri is still selling like hotcakes. I guess it's high time that I start watching the series and indulge myself in bishounen madness.

That said, I'm honestly surprised at Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru's sales. It seems like an anime that just passed by. Lol

High School DxD and ToLoveRu sold well but most don't move a lot of discs. Perhaps more figures, dakimakura, shower posters, etc. and of course they also help to promote the source material.

Utapri is only selling well because of the lottery ticket included with the DVD/BDs lmao. As usual.

Tourabu also has a lottery ticket I think?

Nice vol 2 for TouRabu, little drop from vol 1!
I was actually lowkey waiting for UtaPri to crash under 40k, but they managed to hold it. lmao But unless the 'new anime project' is surprisingly good, I don't think that its sales will hold out for too long, at least for the franchise's standards.
And maybe that 70k vol 1 for YoI that I was waiting for won't happen. :T At least not while it's appearing on the weekly ranking.

Pretty much everything has some sort of ticket nowadays though some are better than others. Lotteries for concert tickets seem to be the most valuable though with Love Live and UtaPri.

nope usually 3000+ average disc sales is when you can call an anime profitable

The sad differences between male and females :(
Females had a decency to spend a lot of money for things they like, while male can't be bothered to waste shit ton of money to buy those bluray disc, really the otaku financial state is the most concerning matter regarding anime industry right now.

The Manabi Line or break-even line is just a 2ch tradition from back in 2007. Since there are so many different revenue streams nowadays, it's quite silly to believe that a certain amount of discs sold equates to a break-even or a profit when every anime project is different. There isn't enough transparency from the production committee of each anime project to even know such a break-even point.
The News Club: Quality News/Discussion (anime, CDs, manga, novels, games, seiyuu), & sales data (daily, weekly, mid-year, yearly).

im aware that disc sales is not the only source of profit and success for the anime industry (even though disc sales is still has the highest pie when it comes to source of profit last time the anime industry made a yearly report), i just fail to add break-even profit in disc sales only there

I see what you mean the overall anime DVD/BD sales are so low, with a few exceptions, the can't rely only on that...

I would say it is rather mobile game.

Eroge market is declining in market size for years already.
