Zomg, didn't expect this to be that GUREETO. Amazing animation quality for the most part and it had this constant thrill going on from the very first moment the hunt began.

Jotaro/Josuke combo so great.

Great stuff, yet again. Josuke and Jotaro were awesome here.

I doubt there's another anime that have a rat fight as entertaining as Jojo. Totally enjoyed this episode as usual.

What makes this fight really underwhelming for me is that Jotaro just refused to shoot the rat in the frozen time. For an experienced stand user that also has a degree in biology you sure botched this fight, eh, Jotaro? Like him stopping time at any point gives him a free really accurate shot that should've killed any of the rats. How did you manage to startle the other rat, did you show him pictures of your dolphin wife?

Variety of factors, firstly, his time stop lasts only, what? 2 seconds? Secondly, time stop takes a toll on his body, so he can't use it that often. And the most important factor I think is that the rat was just not in his line of sight, it was hiding for the most part. I think if the rat was in plain sight, Jotaro would use time stop and kill the rat, but since it was hiding, there was no point in stopping time only to do shoot randomly and hoping it hits the rat.

I doubt that. Jotaro himself explained he purposefully grabbed the rat stand's attack. If he did that, he must've been in his line of sight at the time which would've been enough to line up a shot. Because if he was caught by surprise at the time, and say he would've heard the attack, he probably would've instinctively dodged and he wouldn't have had his stand in the shot's range. Also his endurance only determines the amount of time he can move in the frozen time. It doesn't inhibit movement. 2 seconds should be more than enough for Star Platinum to line up a shot, even if Jotaro wouldn't be, I don't know, capable enough to dodge rat bullets in the frozen time. It's just a classic passing on the torch JoJo episode. They made him act weak for Josuke to get the spotlight.

Maybe the stand of the rat was in his line of sight, but not the rat itself. That way, he saw the stand dart thing coming and caught it. He could've stopped time and repositioned himself so he could see the rat, but I doubt you could cover much distance in 2 second.

Ok episode for one of the weaker social link arcs. For some reason DP made it seem more serious than it originally was and the censorship was pretty annoying but at least they brought back the color changes.

A bullet travels at 335 m/s at its slowest. Jotaro's range was 20 meters. Assuming the speed Star Platinum's ball is shot at is much slower than an actual bullet by a really wide margin, it still should be able to reach the rat in that time. Hojestly it's just poorly explained and as a result of this poorly written. Even in the situation that Jotaro went on hill to taunt the rat he could have Josuke behind him ready to heal him while he lined up a shot in the frozen time. As far as physics goes tho, a really small object shouldn't have a problem to travel 20 meters in 2 seconds given Star Platinum's power the only problem being accuracy as posed by the episode.

This chapter was fine, I guess. It kinda felt rushed and didn't have the same sense of danger the manga had when facing the rat, but the fight itself is pretty straightforward and not that interesting, so I guess it doesn't really matter.

Next week is finally the time when Part 4 gets good, can't wait.

Gotta say right off the bat, Josuke's facial expressions were 10/10 this ep.

Man, this episode was really adorable, with Jotaro teaching his younger uncle the ropes of how to be a main character. Although I hesitate to call an episode with gross giant rats and horrifying body melting "adorable."

Funny like a stupid 80s bloody horror movie, but with a big lack of flesh and blood. The black overlays were ugly, a lot of Jotaro and Josuke's faces weren't that great tooo.

5/5 if the black isn't part of the anime.

Why is the time-stop effect now called "The World" ? The Tarot names were given to Stands in Stardust Crusaders, not to one of their abilities.

Stop complaining, you little weeb bitch. They give names to stands or their abilities themselves, so they can name them however they want. Jotaro naming his time-stop ability "The World" is a tribute to Dio.

@Darius 1st part of your message: I have no idea what you are talking about. I was asking a question here since a lot of the forum users visiting those pages have read the manga before (and those have sometimes annotations from the author)

2nd part: thank you, that was what I wanted to know.

New question: I know what a bitch is, and without a doubt I can't enter in this category. But what is a weeb? And if this gives it a special meaning, what is a weeb bitch?

edit: of course, I invite you to answer me privately, rather than diverging from the thread.

Guess I shouldn't have been eating food when watching this ep. That rats jelly was just...
It's interesting that a rat could be that tough for a time stopping stand user. Always love that no stand ability should be underestimated in the world of stands.
Nice to see Jotaro stopping time again and kind of surprised that he called it "SP ZA WARUTO". Josuke showed some personality with his goofy face and pressure issue. Good idea to hunt some beautiful ladies with your nephew, Josuke. Love the way he held the telescope at the end of the ep. Looked cool.
Although I enjoyed this ep, it felt kind of random. I mean Otoishi Akira must be really boring to spend some time shooting 2 rats with the bow and arrow. But I do agree with some comments above that only Jojo can make fighting off against a rat so intense.

You are missing the obvious fact that he can't stop time for that long anymore. He can only stop time for about 1 second. Lack of training and calm life of a biologist, you know.

It's 2 seconds by the point of this fight I think. But all it takes to line up a shot is 1 second. Even if it is just a second it's still enough. The calm life of a biologist is what makes it the most underwhelming thing, because he should know how to behave around it given how much he knows about the behaviour of that animal. It's a passing of the torch nerf. Happens a bunch of times in JoJo. It's just done this way to keep things exciting. It just had the opposite effect on me.

Well, that's pretty obvious. I was just stressing that it's still a plausible in-story explanation, given the informations Araki provided about Jotaro being "out of shape".
Also, I doubt Jotaro could have calmly took his time to line up and shoot. SP appears to be incredibly fast, true, but that's probably due to inconscious minor time slowing, an application of his power. Against the rat, he was already slowing time and he got shot several times in a row, not just once. As you can clearly see during the fight, he was barely able to avoid bullets once, and the second time he got shot even if he stopped time. These are multiple bullets, they are helluva fast, and the rat doesn't show up clearly because he keeps moving and hiding after shooting. Also, Jotaro was trying to protect Josuke in the meantime.

That's a different scenario, the second encounter that is. While it could be that his stand is theoretically slowing time passively, given the fact that Josuke was able to shoot his rat without any of that, it should be that much easier for Jotaro, given the fact that he has 3 benefits Josuke didn't have:

More fighting experience.

Insight in biology, to be specific the behavior of animals. While he's a marine biologist, it is quite obvious he researched rats for this fight and their behavior.

The power to slow/stop time.

Even out of shape, in that scenario, he has a lot more advantages than the guy that succeeded. My criticism mostly addresses the fact that the second part shouldn't have happened if Jotaro just wasn't used as a passing of the torch material, since a standing rat in a remote location shouldn't have been a problem. Although I don't think it would've been a bad idea to try to rush the rat to shoot it in the frozen time, without dodging the bullets, and then just get healed by Josuke in the second encounter.

I get your reasoning, but don't forget that the first time he enountered it Jotaro was taken by surprise, since he tried to stop the bullets with SP, thinking that he could avoid being damaged that way, only to find that the rat's stand can melt stands as well, something Jotaro couldn't expect.
It may apparently look odd that Jotaro, who defeated Dio and his OP stand, can almost get killed by a rat, but truth is that in the fight against Dio he got very lucky several times, and Dio was pretty much underestimating him. On the other hand, in this situation is Jotaro the one who clearly underestimated the rat's stand, that is deceivingly powerful.

Yeah, I'm not forgetting that. I'm also not forgetting that right before encountering the stand they found rat marmelade. Jotaro was just stupified for writing purposes. He had no reason to underestimating it after he saw the effect of the power.

He did when he thought that the stand couldn't melt an incorporeal object like another stand. Jotaro is cunning, but he's not perfect. He may make mistakes.

Only stands can damage other stands. Given how many stands he thought, he should just expect any type of attack to be dangerous. I just can't buy this mistake for the situation. We're talking about the guy who in his next fight figures out that a stand attacks based on temperature with very little information here.
