What a fantastic show, I'm incredibly sad to see this end. Easily 10/10 for me, it may be a different kind of show but I legit put this up there with my other 10/10 shows like FMA: Brotherhood, Mushishi, and Steins;Gate.

I want a second season now.

Really sad that it's over now... I'm gonna miss Tanaka and the rest. This was definitely the most relaxing and enjoyable show I've watched this season. Easily a 9/10 and AOTS for me. Hoping for another season soon!

Never thought seats being changed would lead to such powerful emotions and actions, I mean, Tanaka ran, like, really freaking fast to switch seats. Poor Shiraishi having such a difficult time getting close to Tanaka, it was cute though. Miyano support is the best support, and Tanak's advice is surprisingly good.

That whole second half was freaking fantastic, like every single part of it was great, and so sweet. I also realized this pretty late, but the opening theme is pretty nice. Final score from is an 8/10. This was such a nice and peaceful anime to watch. I'm gonna miss this anime.

This, I was hoping we would get introduced to those dark and light-blue-haired girls from the OP, but guess not :(

Oh well, decent series. It made me laugh a few times and I liked the characters, so even the SOL scenes were fun to watch. 7/10

Still think there is a good possibility Tanaka will accept Shiraishi's feelings eventually. I don't know but I feel it's going to happen. I could be wrong, though.

Anyway, it was a good series and I really enjoyed watching it every Saturday. The characters are likable and I don't think there is one that annoys me. Miyano is a very interesting character. Echizen is cool as well but I was hoping she wouldn't be into Ohta or is this only anime material?

I am all for Ohta/Tanaka but I guess it won't happen. I just hope there won't be any romantic resolution as I like this series the way it is. Plus, I don't see Tanaka dating anyone.

My overall score is 7/10.

Little to none of the stuff between Ecchan and Ohta is in the manga. Ecchan and Miyano are gay asf for each other in the manga, no discussion about it. They ran out of material to adapt and decided to use Ecchan to fill the screen time. So much funny and heartwarming stuff can he done with her character, and they even could have further developed it, yet they decided to reduce this ex-delinquent to a blushing heterosexual schoolgirl because the director is male and males think they're the center of a teenage girl's life, even if that girl has huge lesbian vibes around her. As a lesbian myself, I cringed at all those unnecessary pseudo-romantic scenes, and therefore I give a big (bitter) middle finger to the director and script writer.

This is what I heard but oh well. I don't mind these scenes but it's just that I ship Ohta/Tanaka and Echizen/Miyano. I'm straight, so I normally go for heterosexual pairings but for some reason, I don't like the idea of Tanaka/Shiraishi and Ohta/Echizen.

The feels for Shiraishi this episode. One day, her and Tanaka will be a couple, if not that world than in fan-fiction.

This show was so relaxing to watch. A great find this season.

and......that was the end. i demand a second season!!! lol xD
but tbh, this episode wasn't really hillarious like the previous episode imo cause it focused more on the character development between Tanaka and Shiraishi. it think it developed a little bit. i still can't see a chance for her to make Tanaka likes her tho...but at least we know for sure that shiarishi is really tyring her best to get tanaka likes her but without rushing it. that's the point of the episode and what the episode was trying to say to us. i kinda like that too.

on the other side, the comedy, still great as usual imo but unfortunately i didn't find it as funny as the previous episode but i still looked funny to me, especially @ the scene where Otha hold Tanaka and Shiraishi on his both hand lol xD that got me pretty well tbh xD other than that just a relaxing and enjoyable moment to me xD

and i really like how the full ver of the opening song as the ending. really relaxing to hear. i makes me sleepy now tho xD anyway, 9/10 from me. it was a really enjoyable and hillarious anime. AND it was relaxing too. well, it's obvious cause the MC always looked lazy and that made me lazy too since i'm a lazy person too lol xD lazy person watching a person being lazy. that's something xD

i demand a second season.....
considering that non non biyori got a second season long ago, i really really really hope this anime would get a second season. i have high hope in you, silver link xD

Favorite character: Otha, Ecchan, and Miyano.

Kinda weird last episode honestly, but that's what happens when you have to stop an adaptation before the manga ending. I liked the series a lot, I just didn't like some of the anime original scenes that pushed Echizen to act like she was in love with Ohta, that shit pissed me off. Miyano is still best girl and is pretty much the reason I want to read the manga now. Also I love the fact Tanaka realized he can't ever live without Ohta.

I agree completely with you. If the anime is going to push romance, it's obvious which pairings it should be. I want to read the manga now too since it won't queerbait us.

Also, Tanaka realized Ohta is essential to his life (for the millionth time) and he doesn't want a girlfriend so I wonder where this'll lead. Hmmm.

I liked the finale, what a fun show. Seriously one of my favorites from this season, it's great comedic timing, unique voice and fun cast of characters were enjoyable to watch every week. I also really loved the animation, especially the backgrounds and the eye catches. I gave it a 9/10.

First of all I really enjoyed the opening bit about the class changing seats. It shows how fresh the show's writing was. It's a pretty common thing in Japanese schools ( I assume we don't do that over here in the States), but I've never seen an anime build a plot line around it. But it made perfect sense, especially for a slacker character like Tanaka. I was amused by the resolution that he switches his front seat with Miyano, especially when she thought Ohta's back was the board.

I was happy the last episode gave us a lot of Shiraishi. I felt like her character's arc almost felt incomplete and she was one of my favorites. You couldn't help but feel for her in this episode, she tried so hard but it makes sense for the tone of the show we weren't suddenly going to get some serious romance here at the end. But still her resolve not to give up, and her inspiring talk with Tanaka were happy vibes to end her story on. I also have really liked her friendship with Ohta in the show, he just respects her and has her back its cool.

I thought the finale checked off all the boxes it needed to for a feel good send off. We got at least one big moment from the whole cast. And we got reaffirmation that Ohta and Tanaka's relationship is eternal. We even got some not too poorly implemented development for our sloth like protagonist, as he realizes he does rely on people. Mix it all together with that dope full length OP at the end and it was a really satisfying goodbye.

You didn't mind the scenes? You have a lot of patience. Every scene with Ecchan blushing over a guy made my internal organs cringe, including my liver, ahahaha. And yes, nearly everyone ships those two pairings in the fandom (except for some ignorant straight guys who put more worth into a onesided hetero ship than O/T and M/E), so you're not a special snowflake.

'I'm straight so I usually like straight pairings'. No. Just no.

I agree with your post, I just wanted to say that in the UK we change seats as well. At least when I went to school. It's a thing they do so you sit by people other than your friends, so I guess you can make new friends, or you stop being an idiot messing with your friend when there's work to do lol. I don't think anyone liked being forced to sit next to people they don't usually talk to or want to know.

Saying that, this only happened for some classes. It was kind of 50/50, some teachers would let you sit anywhere initially and that mostly became your seat for majority of those classes, others would move people around and that would be your seat for majority of those classes. If you were obviously chatting to your friends too much you'd be moved elsewhere.

Usually, forced seat rearrangements were after a holiday like summer, where they'd switch you up, seemingly starting fresh I guess.

Ending that does not disprove the narrative rhythm this far seen, in the most listless, the protagonist greets the viewer, I'm glad I saw again the character of Shiraishi, as a key element of the narrative, I hope that there is a second season order but even better revise Miyano, Ecchan and Rino. Excellent designs, ditto the sets, I wonder if there really is that school. Great job of Silver Link Studio.

This series was definitely one of my favorites this current season (about to end btw) but still the romance hints and all the pairing stuff was super annoying. Too cringeworthy for me.
But the rest was absolutely cute, funny and calm. Exactly as I like my slice of life shows. Tanaka was my favorite character along with Miyano. 7/10

First third: Quite traditional 'Art of Renai' episode, except the usual gender roles are switched...and the characters are not traditional at all...which is basically what this show did every episode.

Second third: Misuderstanding arc, not the kind I like

Final third: Abrupt end, didn't forsee a full OP, actually not the best of endings

The wonder of the season, unexpectedly hit it out of the park. Perfectly crafted surreal comedy scenes, coupled with a quite original MC duo and good chemistry between them and between other characters, and a tone that can double as a relaxing SOL. Set of adorable characters as well. Ideally this will go on and on and on, but it won't happen so I will get hold of the remaining chapters. 9/10

Wasn't much of a last episode, honestly.

Still, easily one of the best shows of the season. Sleeper(pun intended) hit, along with Flying Witch.

The weakest link was Tanaka's sister. I've seen that sister trope too many times. On the other hand, the show needed more of Ohta's sister. A shame she wasn't around more.

The last picnic scene best sums up the irony of this show - that despite Tanaka wanting to be left alone to his listless devices, he's the center of attention that draws this group of colorful personalities together.

While the comedy could be hit or miss, this show managed to blend humor and some R&R together nicely. I remember the first scene in episode one where Tanaka is resting under the tree and it's completely tranquil for the first two minutes. I was hoping for more of that calm but instead it was a precursor to Tanaka's selfish listlessness, which was a treat in and of itself. Strangely enough, Tanaka was fascinating despite his low energy lifestyle and never once struck me as dull. I would always watch thinking "How is Tanaka going to laze around today?" I still lol thinking about when he hissed at the piano in the first episode.

I also like the slightly surreal take to it, it still cracks me up when Ohta carries Tanaka around and everyone treats it like it's normal. While it's certainly a funny show, I also liked those nice SOL moments such as Shiraishi finding a compromise on her image as well as those moments where Tanaka and Ohta's bond was proven inseparable. Hey I actually really like most of this cast, it was really colorful. Miyano was tugging at my heart, Ecchan was easily the cutest in protest, and Tanaka's sister was a hoot (needed to see more of her).

7/10, every time Tanaka stared at the screen with his blank face it felt like he was gazing right into my soul.

Homo end??

But anyway, I really loved this series. The long pauses of silence got me almost very time. Just some pretty great comedic timing overall. Watching Tanaka and Ohta interact was amazingly fun. AND female characters often come off as uninteresting or made specifically with the male demographic in mind instead of being human-like to me, but Miyano was really cute in a way that I felt was real enough. Usually characters like her come with a trope: cute and spunky shorty, DON'T CALL ME SHORT/FLAT-CHESTED DESU not too bright-- well just in general, short female characters often come off as airheaded/dumb, tsundere, angry-ish "in a cute way". Miyano does her best at everything, is wise or intelligent enough/problem solver, but still comes off as your average girl. She's such a refreshing character. That's why Miyano with Echizen seemed so appealing to me; they weren't exactly opposites but were instead just two people with chemistry. Sadly, the anime allowed Echizen to dissolve into the delinquent girl who is secretly crushing on someone kinda??

I'm a bit disappointed that Ohta and Tanaka's sisters weren't given too much time to interact with each other-- with anyone, really. And really, Tanaka's sister was kinda creepy. The whole, "I'm gonna marry/I'm the only one for my brother" thing isn't too uncommon in real life when you're in elementary school and do everything like take showers, baths, and do everything with your brother/sister-- even I had a phase when I wanted to marry my brother, but as you get older it's just some weird incest crap. Like it's pretty much clinging to the first or only "available" person around, and you really should be getting out of that as you get older and meet new people.

I wouldn't mind a spin off series with Saya and Rino actually; severely ignored characters not given nearly enough QUALITY time when they have so much potential (without the incest).

Really great stuff from this show anyway despite those things.

Enjoy your anime! | Witch Cafe Wisteria

This show made me want to sleep.. and probably not the way that they were aiming for either.

If the moral of the story is that we can't get by without a little help from our friends.. then they blew it way out of proportion by giving us an MC who would have played the best Sloth in a certain other popular title.

Agree with OP that this show had its moments and that it was good but definitely not great. People rating it 10/10 are probably just wishing they had their own Ohta-kun to live their lives for them.

Nice, glad to see Tanaka came to realize the power of friendship like a true anime protagonist. Also glad to see his male friends get a little bit more screen time.

The series as a whole was so nice and relaxing, really great thing to have when you've had a bad day. Even the art style was calming. Wish there was more out there like it. A pleasant surprise for something I really only started watching as a joke.
