Other than LWA and KLK it seems like the lack of budget/funding is really hindering them as a studio. It shows how hard it is for new studios to break into the market even with veteran staffs.

So far their shit either been shorts and a bunch of lack luster projects. Like we are suppose to see this "not trying" mentally as funny and "art."

But how does the rest of mal feel about them? In short their a studio that needs to build up first before allowing their potential to flourish imo.

I'm not into their stuff since action is my least favourite genre. Inferno Cop is the one I actually really enjoyed.

Kill la Kill was good, Inferno Cop was hilarious and Ninja Slayer sucked.
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

I don't think so. One thing I realized in MAL is that people here are really inconsiderate... by watching their stuff even if it's not your cup of tea, you should at least acknowledge the amount of effot they put into their work, you can clearly see that they love what they do. Disregarding all of that by saying it's a meme studio is pretty immature.

Well they do anime original stuff which makes they good just for that. LWA is awesome and KLK is pretty good too, if a bit rough. Inferno Cop is just you're typical, run of the mill, lulz so random series. Ninja was really underwhelming. So a mixed bag with potential.

If they could stop doing stuff like Ninja Slayer that would be great.
I really enjoyed KLK and LWA and i had a good lulz with Inferno Cop but Ninja Slayer... that was way too much of trying hard to be like Inferno Cop for 26 episodes of 15 min. :|
Looking forward to see what they will give us with Kiznaiver.

The problem with KLK is they just didn't have enough money. Half of it looks like a mediocre flash animation, the other half (where the budget went) feels more authentic than any other TV anime since like 2001. Maybe they're half saving anime.

The hype over Trigger is expedient, like voting for a politician: you know he's part of the problem, but your vote isn't actually about helping him win, it's about telling other politicians you care about x issue and you can vote against them.

Maybe it's a "stylistic" decision in the comedy scenes, but silly scrolly animation and still-screen abuse during a big dramatic plot twist is dissonant, it doesn't fit the tone. They were obviously saving the budget during those parts and hiding it by stylizing it as some sort of "animated manga." Unavoidable maybe, but it hurts the final product.

My point is that the parts they were saving money for are worth it, and I'd like to see more like that.

it's mostly a stylistic decision. They did an awesome work with a low budget, but if they were that desperate to save money, they wouldn't animate chins most of the time when chars are speaking. Like... most TV shows do.

to add to that, Sakuga scenes are not just money shot scenes or well animated scenes, Sakuga also refers to the animation style of an animator or director, so the frantic animation look of Gurren Lagann and Kill la Kill is just the animation style of Imaishi who directed both of those anime

heres more example of Sakuga as animation style of animators/directors http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2014/01/02/video-an-introduction-to-sakuga-the-animation-of-anime

Their animation is pretty decent (DITF, Kiznaiver, Kill la Kill) but I did notice those three had that style of fast-motion frame blended animation. It does look good and smooth but it seems to be a budget saving method for fast action
