Great show....I don't know why but I really liked it.

Just wondering, did they ever play the school tournament? Did I forget about it, or did they just only talk about doing it but never actually DO it?

They wanted to, but their team is only 5 members, and apparently it would violate the spirit of their team to try and recruit a bench. That and the harem would grow unsustainably large ... does Subaru even HAVE a job to support that many girlfriends?

But anyway, nah, no school tournament for them. Maybe a second season will introduce a second 5 so they can really play in tournaments, and the girls can learn about sharing playing time n stuff.

The second 5 doesn't have to be in the same grade level as the original 5. In fact, I prefer a second 5 consisting of kouhais (Grade 5's or something) so that the core group can act as their mentors.

That said, they could use a legitimate Power Forward. Sorry, but no one among the core group is suited for that. Not even the hot-blooded Maho.

I'm under the impression that the writers are avoiding the Loads and Loads of Characters path, as it could potentially break the chemistry of the core group. But if they did it right, then chemistry between the core group and the second group is preserved.

This is probably the only 'sports anime' I've enjoyed. Likeable characters, and I also like the fact that they actually lost the last game. Yes, it was sad, but it was - kind of -unexpected and it would be unrealistic for them to win EVERY game they played.

All that aside, I'd definitely watch a Season 2 or OVA if one ever comes out.

And speaking of season 2:

EXCELLENT! That is some great information. Well certainly the twins peaked my interest and French girl too. Any pics of those that I may be directed towards from the LN? That would be nice too see if they show them. At worst PM me.

Still second season would be way better. More basketball and less ecchi on the other girl's sides. Well I mean come on, we all want to know the other girls, right? Anyway just saying now, that shot that was a backhand shot or reverse shot from Hinata, is i-m-p-o-s-s-i-b-l-e IRL! No way it can happen like that.

Oh boy they adapt into anime and it's going to get crazier. Those twins are over Moe.

In regards to the NBA, yeah trick shots but not with the technique Hinata used. I did one IRL and I never got it quite that way again.

Point being they probably wanted to show the extremes of Hinata's luck. Always good to have a lucky player on the team.

But Subaru says Hina trained for that shot a lot tho.

Nonetheless, that's what we call BOSS-HAND!

Agreed but even with practice the luck must be there else it can be so a miss. But yeah boss hand can be = to lucky hands.

Holy... And there I was thinking it's impossible to have more cast than it did...

The french girl peaked my interest... A girl that's stronger than Tomoka, and as short as Hina... Nice!!!

I was actually kind of disturbed as the show kind of transitioned to what appeared to be a confession scene between Coach guy and Tomoka.

I assume that was the directors intention, but man I was like OMG PEDO MOMENT INCOMING.

Also lol at the people in this thread that think reverse layups arent real.

That reverse layup in the video isn't exactly how Hina did it, but I guess that's the point. Reverse layups are just common routine in the NBA.

Anyways, I'm really conflicted by this show.

I want Coach guy to end up with Tomoka (sp) because they seem to genuinely make each other happy, but if the next season starts a new school year, he will be ~17 and she should be ~12.

That's iffy for me, even with my questionable morals.

BUT...

At the same time, Aoi pisses me off. She annoyed the shit out of me as the generic as hell Tsundere character who refused after like 6 straight episodes to just accept that the guy isn't pedo for the girls.

Its like damn girl how jelly can you be.

If he ends up settling for her I'm going to be pissed.

Overall, much better than I expected! I was pleasantly surprised to feel attached to the characters, all of them were very fun to watch. I appreciated how time was spent on developing each of their stories as it made the show much more than just 'loli basketball'. And of course, the matches and the training sessions provided some interesting facts about the sports as well.

Absolutely awesome OP and ED too. I enjoyed every episode, 8/10. Can't wait for the second season.

Overall not bad but not great either. I did very much enjoy the matches and most of the basketball stuff but the slice of life stuff got very boring very fast. Although I guess it was necessary since if it was all basketball, that would have probably got boring pretty fast too.

The matches and the good parts - 8
Rest - 3/4

Overall I'll give it a 5 since it was one of those "has its moments" anime. I'll probably end up watching the second season at some point, since the second opening got me into this anime in the first place.

I still don't find Aoi's overreactions funny in the least ... at least there won't be any more of them, neh?

When girls your own age are as violently irrational as Aoi, who wouldn't prefer the sweetness of the lolis?

Amen. I'm usually sympathetic to the childhood friend, but Aoi is just awful. All the unfunny misunderstandings and violence (usually instigated by Aoi) really dragged this anime down. All 5 lolis had a pleasant personality, so that was a nice surprise. I was expecting at lest one bad apple from the bunch, but I guess Aoi was the token bitch tsundere.

I liked it, especially since they didn't pull a random win even though the opponent was better than them (way more experienced) but they managed to still show some growth.

Underrated and one of the best loli-centered anime I've seen. The basketball scenes were great too, would only put them slightly below the quality of Kuroko no Basuke which is saying a lot. Another thing to mention is the soundtrack was surprisingly good, I didn't expect to be nodding my head to the music as much as I was.

I would have liked it more without the annoying childhood friend, but overall I give it a 6/10.

Nice match and it didn't end in a cliché win as well. Plenty of nice lessons learned during that match.

That moment when you aren't sure whether it's a flashback or not. I had it one time in episode 6. One of the sideeffects of when the characters are too loli, lmao.

Well, the fanservice and harem aspect was amped up another notch with the holy trinity of ecchi that is pool, beach and onsen(in episode 8&9) Unironically funny stuff and I was also invested in the vanilla character drama. In particular Hina's portion that was part of the beach episode. Not usual to give a character with a small body such a backstory. It was nice seeing her giving her best during the race and the final match. Everyone has grown and that made for a satisfying finale, even tho they didn't win the end. The journey is the goal. Still would've been nice to wrap things up with a Saki buzzer beater.

This was a really enjoyable watch overall, especially when I found myself in the mood for some moe like today. One doesn't need to approve the fanservice nor shame people who get off to it, but there are honestly worse things(this isn't limited to just the entetainment factor)

6/10

Good score for something so basic. I don't mind it when CGDCT shows play it safe

That close loss to Suzuridani's team at the last second has got to hurt, especially for such a competitive team, but it's nice to see that Subaru and the girls didn't fall into a stupor over it for too long. Subaru actually noticed that there was a stamina issue that was affecting the team during the last few minutes of the match, so it's apparent that they know what to work on to get even better.

Enjoyed this anime a lot. There really isn't too much to criticise here, as the character dynamics and writing were consistently solid throughout, and it even made a point of averting several cliches and easy narrative cop-outs I was anticipating at points. Even the protagonist, Subaru, had my appreciation for being more lively, involved and relevant than many main characters in haremesque anime. If there was something I could complain about, it would be that characters like Aoi were excessively violent at times, and that the art was sometimes off-model. But you've otherwise got a really pleasant, funny watch on your hands.
