Not illegal for the individual user on the site, not in the same way the government could "in theory" arrest you for uploading or seeding an anime.

Those in charge of the site are subject to law though, since they profit from ads without providing pay to the publishers.

Yes, Kissanime is an illegal streaming website. A legal website with a huge catalogue like Kissanime is too good to be true.

Not that much could happen to you though. There are people that got DMCAs for torrenting but I'm not sure if the same has happened with streaming.

Not for people visiting the site but the people who own the site yes since they make money from ads and don't pay the official companies.

Sounds like BS reasoning. If you ban the production of a certain product, you might as well ban the distribution of it. Child pornography works in such a way.

In some places it is legal to own marijuana yet illegal to grow it. Legality is weird.

You can buy lossless digital music from your favorite Japanese artists on https://ototoy.jp/.
The songs are all DRM-free and you can re-download your purchased albums as you wish.
Show your support to your favorite artist if you can!
ps. if you are looking for Japanese albums, you have to search it in Japanese (not romaji). Just copy and paste the name.

For those who want to learn Japanese through anime

the wierd one is the maker legality law, not the legality itself.

I don't know if Kissanime has legal rights to the merchandise but look at this

“When it comes to catching those involved in piracy, it is not our strategy to prosecute the end user [people streaming films at home]. Our interest lies in identifying, disrupting and if necessary prosecuting the individuals who defraud the creative industries by knowingly stealing content – and who then make that content available through illegitimate means for their own financial benefit or kudos.”

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/household-bills/11649188/Could-you-be-fined-for-illegally-streaming-movies-or-TV-shows.html

I wouldn't advise streaming from an illegal website. And I am not encouraging such behavior. I am merely answering the question

If it was so illegal the law would've done something about it a long time ago. The law was meant to be broken anyways...

yes its illegal, KissAnime is really profiting from ads and do not give back to the anime creators and just leech on free fansubs, personally i will not support this illegal streaming sites at all since they are real thieves stealing money

this illegal streaming sites are making money out of piracy

piracy should always be free

downloading is the lesser evil like i said on another thread

It's Japan's product so other countries won't really bother doing anything and Japan had started some project to stop these illegal streaming and torrenting sites like a year ago but didn't really achieve that much. They released a list full of a shitton of illegal websites but only a few were taken down so far.

A signature is basically just a picture most of the time. His probably got removed because it overstepped the maximum size allowed.

Or it was too lewd.

Yes it's illegal. Tho, I don't understand why people won't support Crunchyroll and FUNimation but they support Kissanime. I remember I asked them in FB and they said there are more than 25k users purchased an account there. XD

Yes, it is an illegal anime streaming website. They take the anime from torrent trackers which are usually from Crunchyroll or Funimation and host it themselves for others to watch for free.

Kissanime was my go-to for anime that aren't available to stream legally and dvds that are wicked expensive.

Any streaming site, including the currently-downed site in question, that does not pay licensing fees to the Japanese creators of the shows they stream is illegal (whether anybody cares or enforces it or not). In short, pretty much any site not listed here is illegal, with possible exceptions including Viewster and the stuff re-streamed on MAL and Anime-Planet.

Why not just download instead? The selection is the same if not better, the quality's better, and you're not letting 3rd-party parasites profit off the industry's work.

Everything that connects to MAL

Contains Ecchi, but not Tagged Ecchi: Part 1 || Part 2 || Part 3

Is it illegal for you to use the site: No
Is it illegal for the site to exist: Yes
It also depends on what country you are from.
In Canada, it is illegal to upload anything copyrighted, but downloading is perfectly legal.

Use the site... provided it ever comes back.
It's my go to.

Probably because if you sub to CR you won't have access to Funi's content and the other way around.

People (who aren't gullible) are not going to subscribe to more than 1 service for 1 type of entertainment.

Kissanime has everything.

That said, using Kissanime is not illegal in any jurisdiction I know of. Only the distributor of illegal content is breaking the law (which is why torrenting is illegal, because you upload - aka. distribute - while you download)
