Older animation has more of an organic representation of art to it, more picturistic, more gritty, even nudity back then was considered something of an art-form sensual but beautiful instead of the smut we get today. Newer animation with its ridiculous over the top CGI and still frames, haha these kids will never understand what true animation is.

The same can be said bout video games. The medium only cares about glorifying all video games into these movie interactive experiences with photo-realistic visuals but us true gamers know the pixel art and graphics of 80 and 90's was the pinnacle of the medium in my opinion.

Definitely not untouchable. It descends into filler sometimes and it doesn't feel like the same series anymore. I feel like most manga/anime get praised so much due to the fact that most of the medium is awful so when something's good, people think it's REALLY good. I love Berserk and I came in wanting to give it a perfect rating honestly. Same thing happened with HxH.

Not a fan of anything after Golden Age other than the recent arc after the ship but it's on constant hiatus right now.

Edit: let's also add that I don't really take art or animation into perspective when rating. It's a shame Miura's art only peaked in the later chapters and wasn't nearly as good during Golden Age.

I haven't watched any David Lynch in a very long while. I like him, though. His visual imagery can be really haunting and I like a lot the feeling of unease that his movies leave. My second favorite is Lost Highway, I was completely hooked by the mystery. Blue Velvet is very close. My experience with Mulholland Drive wasn't all that positive but at the time I was less into his style. Some scenes have taken deep root in my memory so I'm sure a rewatch will make me love it.
