Another aspect of the animation industry which "Kuromi" addressed well but
which "Shirobako" has (thus far) failed to mention is the risk to health due to
the extremely stressful work. Prior to freshly-graduated "Kuromi" being hired
as the new Production Assistant/Production Desk, the previous person had
been suffering from a very painful bleeding ulcer. The boss instructed him not
to die until a new Production Assistant could be hired. When Kuromi arrived
on the first day, after he explained the job to her, the previous Production
Assistant collapsed in pain and was then rushed away in an ambulance. Upon
meeting Kuromi, one of the existing employees told Kuromi coldly, "Don't die
until we can find a replacement for you."

Miyamori dying when? just kidding I'm actually interested to see this being tackled on the show since we've already seen one of the animation directors lying on the floor coz of over-fatigue. Shame though they don't really touch this subject that often.

Kunogi can talk? I thought that she was mute, or is she extremely shy? Nonetheless, she was super adorable.

Good thing that that girl managed to get it right, would be a little bad if she had to leave.
And the ending, what a big comeback.

Yes! I wanna bring take one home too! Where can I find one!

Miyamori was doing all so well, until that goddamn studio messed it all up! We are now seeing the destructive power of Hiraoka and his Shady Taitanically Destructive Studios, which I shall evermore dub STD Studios. I can't decide whether I hate Hiraoka more for disappearing on the job, introducing such a messed up Studio that does way more harm than good, and practically not appearing to do anything, or Tarou for talking big about everything but the job, and then running away when Miyamori was issuing orders. Hiraoka is starting to take the lead here...

That scene when Yano walked into the room, you could literally paste a brightly lit "Divinity" background and that would probably be what Miyamori was thinking.

Still waiting for Zuka's big break.... hope I don't have to wait till a season 2 for it (though if they really do pull a season 2, I'm then ALL FOR IT).

Oh, and I missed Diesel-san this episode.

Hurry up next week!

About the last scene where Tarou had been gone already when Miyamori is ready to give him order, is that because he ran away or because he already decided what he need to do? For some reason both are kinda off character for him, or I misread something here?

Looking forward to that OP veteran background guy works, I would definetely watch if PA decided to make the Aerial Squad into an actual anime.

That stress was sure getting to Miyamori's head, good thing Yano-san made it it. However, It seems so incidental I don't buy it, the timing of it all could have been less derivative.
Why do people have such bad taste? Anime isn't subjective anymore.

Looks like Miyamori is on the way to becoming a director

Not a director, nothing has indicated that Miyamori has artistic talent.

But she could become a producer, which ultimately is the most important thing. Directors, animators, writers, all eventually need to be paid. Only people who are willing to invest the money, the producers, are the true genesis of any artistic production. Of course the main producers don't know jack about anything, so they hire someone who does know something. That is the position Miyamori is starting to fill. Succeed with this animation, and she has a rep, having a rep means that the money bags will trust her vision, having money means that the directors, animators, and writers will take a chance on her.

Of course ultimately talent will win, but talent needs a coach to bring out their talent. Miyamori is going to be that coach, and in doing that, she will Shepard the blossoming of a lot of talent.

Dang, everything is piling up for Aoi.. The guy quits after messing up and now Aoi is in a tough spot. Well it seems like Erika might get her chance to shine as she's back.

Aoi's pink outfit looked very pretty on her. It's refreshing as well since dives a bit out of her regular clothes that we've been seeing her use.

PA is playful. I can't recommend making international calls, but like in previous Hanasaku Iroha series with Ohana working at the guesthouse picking up the phone, you can actually call Musashino Animation phone number 03-6908-8821 and Miyamori picks up the phone (recorded). The current version has Miyamori high on doughnuts and singing, happy that Yano-senpai is back.

Thanks for this. My OCD kicked in when the credits of this episode lists "Voice of Christine" but did not list the in-universe name of the voice actress. With this page, we know it's Ayano Makise.

Now I just need to figure out who "Voice of Valois" is.

The most pleasant part of this episode to me was when the sound director guided the new voice actor. He never acted like an instructor, a supervisor or such. He just had a nonchalant talk with her that seemed to have nothing to do with the recording but he had made her find how to act with a bit sad and monotonic way at the very part finally.

Nice episode.

But I'm still extremely annoyed by the new illustrator. I don't know how you guys find her cute. She can't even talk with her coworkers. It's not like she's shy or even makes conversations awkward. She's unable to finish a word, let alone a whole phrase. This is some serious problem and I do really hope that by the end of the series she can at least talk to Ema.

And this taitanic studio is obviously going to be the source of a lot of problems in the last arc. I'm also pretty confident that by the end of the season Shizuka will also work with them. Maybe the original choice for the role she auditioned will fall ill or something. It's pretty obvious that this whole "the director really liked her" thing wasn't gratuitous. Maybe she'll fill in as a supporting character?

It has been a nice SOL so far, but I still miss that something that will make it great. It's my favorite show "this season" so far, however.

Ai is an exaggeration of the socially awkward type of people out there. Hopefully, she will have some development in the last 6 episodes with Ema's help.

Studio Taitanic is a real place! At least, the external appearance of Studio Taitanic
is an exact match for a location in the small town of Ooarai. Fans of "Girls und
Panzer" may recall that the whole story was set in Ooarai and the locations were
all modeled closely on actual places in Ooarai. As well, Tsutomu Mizushima directed
both series. If you click on this link, you can see a still image from Shirobako of the
street view of Studio Taitanic which perfectly matches some building in Ooarai:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B7ZlWXwCUAALSjj.jpg

Apart from Shirobako, this webpage contains many other examples where fans
have noticed similarities between anime series backgrounds and real-life places:
http://anitabi.net/blog/2015/01/2015seichi.html

- - - - - - - - -

I just noticed that the official Shirobako website has 14 new technical terms which
have been added to their anime glossary. As usual, fans are expected to study all
of these in advance of watching the episode. So it looks like Episode 19 might be
a bit complicated.

Make the executive producer is really terrible, as I am now, I would not be still capable. Not a bad episode, I did not imagine a similar upsurge against the MUSANI, but this is permissible because not all are true professionals in every sense. On the other hand there is also shown the other side of the coin; you notice there is also the difference that makes the real professional. The twist due to Okura leaving the job, was not credible; bluff a short-lived, artists need inspiration. Maybe I evaluated Taro-kun too hastily, it is a fool; point! XD
However one other lesson from the way the Japanese animation industry; I love Shirobako.

Yet another episode that was all killer no filler. The seiyuu scene was great, the voice of the main girl was trying so hard. It was kind of cringe worthy, I'm glad it worked out for her though. Nabe-P entrusting Miyamori with making the production teams introductions to the voice cast was really nice. Plus she was the best, but only because the Director and other guy were laughably terrible. I really liked how the sound guy basically tricked her into saying the line naturally. It was clever, Miyamori trying to talk her down was sweet too. I agree with whoever said the voice actress sounds like Kana Hanazawa.

This was a busy episode with a lot of cool stuff, but my favorite part was the addition of yet another new character Ookura. I love his concept in general, an old school background painter who's a drunk now because he feels he has no place in the digital world. He was just a funny character throughout too though. I also liked the business card set up because I totally noticed him put it in his wallet and wondered if that would come back. I also like how he was guilted into helping them with Head Honcho's food. The after the credits scene with him painting was yet another moment of sublime beauty punctuating the alternately humorous and stressful tone of the show.

On a final note the Titanic studios problem is yet another monkey wrench in the show's progress I could not anticipate. I at least rarely think about how the studio producing the anime sometimes essentially contracts parts of the show to different studios. The idea that one of these might be stretching themselves too thin and completely drop the ball had never even occurred to me.

Just when all hope seems lost for Miyamori, Yano shows back up. While maybe a cheap cliffhanger I punched the air when she walked through the door. I've missed Yano and I was worried since it was so late in the series she might just show up for a cameo like Honda. Maybe give Miyamori another encouraging ass slap and be on her way. But it seems like she's here to stay, and I can't wait to see her and super stressed Miyamori's reunion next time.

On a final less important note, for the last two episodes the ED has been Zuka. I felt like the two episodes that had Ema in the ED at least prominently featured her. Zuka wasn't even in this episode. A minor quibble but time is also running out for them to do something with her.

-Man whose idea was it to have Chazawa sit in on the recording
-Turns out he wasn't even there for most of the recording
-That's a really small smoking room and I'm questioning the logic of it
-Arrive late leave early do nothing
-Liked the conversation in the recording room between Suzuki and Aoi
-The conversation in the recording room between Suzuki and the sound guy was adorable
-The store owner seems to have listened in on a lot of conversations going on in her shop
-How did they get in his house anyway
-Musani pres is pretty well-connected, it would seem
-Huh, the Taitanic episode director actually puts in work. I woulda expected that guy to be as wishy-washy as the Taitanic production desk
-Never mind, I shouldn't have assumed that quantity equated to quality. MusAni just can't catch a break.
-Everything comes tumbling down
-Oh nice Erika's back, although the moment the door opened I knew who it was
-Turns out the Ookura fellow wanted to disconnect himself in order to draw better and not to shirk the work

Pretty nice episode actually. Studio Taitanic turned out to be a thorn in MusAni's side as expected.
