someone wanted some feedback regarding my opinion on Arslan Senki, here:

It's writing is terrible, it's animation is inconsistent and mostly looks like ass, it's cgi is also terrible, the color palette is incredibly bland and boring, featuring colors that remind me of shit, the characters are as interesting as rocks, they get little no development and the pacing is as slow as it can get. Everything about this anime adaptation screams mediocre. After seeing this anime's superior counterparts and giving it 5 episodes, I couldn't care about its characters, world and story at all, which is quite sad. We get some deaths of insignificant characters and shit, and I should care about that? Yeah, right, I'm out.

Really enjoying this every week. The visuals are a bit bland, though. The CGI is pretty average and there are way too many stills, like when the gates were being closed.

Dude could have easily shot Bodin the inquisitor with that accuracy

Poor shapur...but then again, it's better to be saved by being killed instantly than to be tortured to death slowly.

Gieve seems pretty cool. Can't wait to see how he'll turn out.

He hit Shapur in the forehead, with that logic he could have hit Bodin in the face

At least that's what I had hoped

The real problem with that is Shapur was in enemy's hands and that was the whole army, not just Bodin. If Gieve killed Bodin with that arrow, Shapur would still be in their hands and they could still torture him to death, just putting another guy to do that in Bodin's place.

Still I imagine he could've shot multiple arrows. A arrow hitting a chain coif would probably incur a concussion at least.

I just noticed in this episode that Pars has a middle eastern feel to it. I had to look up what an oud was.

This was one of the best episodes so far; I really want to see what happens next, but I'm pessimistic for both Pars and Arslan's fortunes.

The novels this is based on are still ongoing, right? So does that mean this entire series is just going to be an opening chapter to an epic? I'm worried that I'll be unsatisfied when it ends.

If it helps Pars sounds similar to Persia, and Lusitania was a region in Rome, so it makes the comparison a bit more interesting, if you think of it in those terms.

actually no, it was in Portugal, where there was another civilization, the Lusitani; after it became a roman province, but it wasn't a roman's religion (sorry if my english isn't good)

I actually really enjoyed this. It has potential, I'd like to see where this series is headed. As for most animes, a bigger budget would be more appreciated. However, beggars can't be choosers. Anyway, they may have put more budget into later episodes with bigger plot value or fight scenes.

That episode was fine... But this chara-design, ugh...

Just... Jon Bodin and Gieve. It really doesn't make them justice at all.
Jon Bodin's design is of the caricatural fanatic. His facial expressions aren't the least bit subtle. The way to go would have been to capture that obtuse, unsackable belief in own temporal authority. A sort of smug, frightening majesty. The OAV series managed it outstandingly.
Here, he's only a gesticulating cartoon character whose measure is about as shallow as a depiction of Bin Laden by Fox News. As for Gieve, he looks more like a cosplaying C-rate drama actor, than a believable seductor versed in art and war.

This is my only grievance. This series has a great storytelling. It's a gripping show to follow =)

So true.
IMO this show needs 1% of extra budget of UBW. And it'll become fkin gorgeous.
The CGI and artworks are so underpowered most of the time they makes the serious parts look ...meh.
The plot points are there but it feels disappointing.
You will soon learn that a heart that choose to exist, even in a life filled with pain, will one day allow us to meet again.
With the world's blessings, we will meet again and again, forever returning to the homeworld we've yet to see.
Many, many times.

Okay, first of all your opinion sucks. I usually respect opinions but while the anime of akatsuki no Yona hasn't covered some of the better points that the manga has reached (the next few arcs after the anime ends are amazing) its still very much a good anime. I do not understand the hate at all in this community. "OMFG it has ecchi 1/10, omg I saw a cliche 1/10" <--- that's how childish most of you sound.
Watch Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, you wont be disappointed. http://q.pokefarm.org/user/Uran10

Besides that, great episode, well done torture scene only complain would be the pacing, as for the cgi I don't really care, learn to deal with it or don't watch it.

Part of the inquisitor felt pretty infantile, almost reaching Akame ga Kill levels. But I guess it was necessary to convey how much insane are the religious zealots on Lusitania's side, just not a fan of the Akame ga Kill aproach.

That character is gonna suck balls, I can tell it. He'll be acting as mere anger fuel for Pars guys, this undermining anymore depth about his character.

Great show as usual, I still just wish it had a higher budget.

I know, right? I mean, almost all "difficult" (fast movements or very crowded) scenes are animated in 3D. It's gotten very annoying to me.
There's one scene where they didn't even bother to give the three soldiers that were in it different facial features. I mean, come on.
I liked this episode, it was just nice, but I'm liking where it's going.

Story content trumps animation quality...when did it ever become the other way around? Something that looks pretty doesn't make it good. Who cares if the CGI looks wonky if the characters and narrative are engaging.

Although the preacher guy was bombastically 1 dimensional and the CGI was jarring the episode overall was decent. Nice to see the slaves being utilized in the show's plot. I thought they would just remain an unexplored theme but it looks like I misjudged it. Looking forward to the next episode.

Great episode, but it was mostly about strategies and all.

At least they showed Gieve. Cool marksmanship, reminds me of Tigre from Madan no ou Vanadis.

Pacing seems too fast since Arslan will soon inherit the king if this keeps up.

I couldn't agree more. I personally didn't think it looked as bad as people make it out to be, animating upon thousands of soldiers based on a historical war setting isn't the easiest thing to cover either.
