Tagane's alive because she got lucky: she lives in a high place and passed by a mountain on her way to her fiance (who wasn't so lucky).

Great episode. Didn't know there were people that eat hail like that.

The sound effects as the hail rained down was amazing. 5/5 for that feature alone.

Just as the other episodes this episode was calm and relaxing. This show is truly unique. There's no drama here, just mushi. Calm soothing mushi..

Couldn't agree more. This show is perfect to end the day with and see 1 episode before falling asleep. Always beautiful and relaxing

Curious how the hail is okay though when it's technically mushi. Wouldn't munching on them release them into your body? Ah well, there's probably an explanation given the attention to detail paid in this series to such possible inaccuracies.

I guess the hail wasn't technically mushi, the mushi probably just makes hail form and fall to the ground. The mushi ended up in the stone and became dangerous because too much time had passed without clouds, but otherwise is harmless, just causing hail.

good ending would have been a bit better if it snowed but i guess hail makes more sense
Kind of a duckest move asking for an inkstone with a mushi in it at the end
well this one was a happy ending

For some reason I reckon those 2 (inskstone maker and sensei) would make a good couple.

I picked up on that vibe too, quite surprised not more people mentioned it.

Yeah, but you'd say they'd add some flavouring. Maybe some Yuzu juice and sugar,.. Japanese sherbet FTW!

This was a slower, less interesting episode, but I loved the resolution. The final scene put a huge grin on my face.

Still, I find the last two episodes to be worse than the first ones.

Regardless of those deaths (2, or it was 3?) caused by the "cursed" ink stone, i feel like this had a happy ending...a sort of light, serene/peaceful (maybe?) vibe.
Yeah, maybe the word is serene :P

I love the interactions between Ginko and sensei-doctor-san, some comic moments (and expressions..!) and show some sort of intimacy on their friendship despite Ginko being a traveler and never setting for too long (:

I'd like to try some flavored hail now lol. Good thing Ginko figured out what type of mushi it was in time or those kids would've been screwed. I guess he had enough time since it took the previous owners a month to die.

I love how sharp Ginko's gaze can get.

Female craftsman was refreshing considering I was expecting a stereotypical muscular man. Also she's quite easily recognizable and pretty to add.

That cure looked like a pilgrimage. So mystical when the cloudy mushi came out.

I am glad for her too. With this, she can finally move on.

I enjoy Adashino.

Ah I see. They let it out at the beach 'cause of the low pressure near the sea.
Great episode. Had a different atmosphere from the previous few episodes, less sad and more on a hopeful side.

This episode is also decent as regards the history and the gloomy and melancholic atmosphere that it carries with it. Finally thanks to Ginko and what happens, the professor Adashino understands the dangers of his hobby. Fascinating the case in question in this episode, wow!

Dying from a chill that no one but you can feel is quite an unfortunate way to go and you can actually cure yourself out of it without even realizing it like how the woman escaped the consequences that were brought forth by the Mushi entrapped in the inkstone. They might've been unable to save those who have already perished, but at least the children were saved.

That cloud becoming bigger and bigger as she freed it looked mesmerizing and it looks like they'll have to stay inside for a while. Adashino needs a new hobby or better security, that's for sure.

The story takes place in the middle of the XIX. century (in a fictive era between the Edo period and the Meji period) when the refrigerator couldn't have been used widespread in the rural Japan so it might have been a bit of fun to eat ice in the middle of summer. Actually when I was a kid I used to eat hail too :D (and not because my parents didn't have a refigerator)

I found this episode, poignant and fascinating, perhaps because I am attracted to the sky and the beauty of the clouds. The character of Adashino is like Ginko, as for liking and comedy, I like him! He could marry the girl who makes stones for ink, it wouldn't hurt the idea, who knows!

not one of my favorites, but was a chill and non-depressing episode.
"...our faces marked by toil, by deceptions, by success, by love; our weary eyes looking still, looking always, looking anxiously for something out of life, that while it is expected is already gone – has passed unseen, in a sigh, in a flash – together with the youth, with the strength, with the romance of illusions.” - Joseph Conrad ('Youth')

There was a really neat story in this episode with the inkstone concealing the cloud mushi. When the kids all were cured at the end, that was a great scene! And I am glad that the lady got her life figured out!
