DeadIEnd said: I don't remember a season overloaded with so many worthwhile shows that will be offered to us. Not a recent one in many years, that is. Anime is still alive and kicking. Don't kill it prematurely! Anime has always been alive and kicking. It's not like we didn't get any new series in the past 10 years. OT: This a really great idea, to put all the PV's an CM's in one place before the season starts. |

High expectations : 1) Jojo : Muscles, testosterones, GAR battles. And because it’s Jojo, period. 2) Mushishi : One of series that I consider “timeless classics” alongside Seirei no Moribito and Aria series. Meaningful, deep, and very immersive into its setting and mood. Once the 2005 series ended, it left behind a very strong impression on me, a genuine desire of wanting more of it, which very gratefully was answered by the soon to be aired second season. 3) Sidonia no Kishi : This is the kind of mecha series that I genuinely love. The one that relies on grand, epic, ambitious plot and imaginative sci-fi aspect, unlike most mecha shows nowadays that are usually about angsty teenagers with their stupid problems. The full CG is gonna take some time to get used to though, much like Arpeggio. 4) Isshuukan Friends : The closest comparison I can draw for this series is the awesome Hourou Musuko. It’s beautiful, involving, yet heartbreaking at the same time. One of very few anime in school setting that depicts its characters in pretty mature and dignified manner and reading manga got me almost teared up few times. Definitely must watch. Moderate expectations : 1) Mahouka : I generally don’t like LN adaptations, mainly because of their overused clichés and generally convenient execution that often predates the plot and characterization. Mahouka, however, provide lots of depth and more complex world building. Honestly I don’t really care about the main characters, but the hard sci-fi aspect has totally won me over. A bit wary that Madhouse is gonna screw it up though, especially after what they did with Mahou Sensou. 2) Black Bullet : The manga is decent, though the whole premise sounds kinda stupid. Has lots of cool actions and the PV looks very badass. It also has very few off-putting elements that LN adaptations are usually prone of (No harem, no pseudo-romance, no ecchi but we’ll see), and it’s also directed by freaking Masayuki Kojima, who also did Monster series. 3) Gokukoku no Brynhildr : Very stupid premise and convoluted plot that requires high degree of suspension of disbelief (trust me, the “why couldn’t government simply raid MC’s and his haremettes hideout already?” kind of line will pop out very often on your head once the third heroine introduced) much like the mangaka’s previous work Elfen Lied. Will only watch this for pure shock value because it has awful lot of “wow” and “lol” elements. 4) Hitsugime no Chaika : Frankly I don’t like the manga. A uber cutesy loli and a creepily stalker lil’ sister surrounding the bland MC, in a plainly run-off-the mill fantasy setting is very off-putting for me. And this time the studio Is the only buying factor. Yep, BONES. Really hope they’re gonna shape this generic series into something decent much like what they did to Noragami. 5) Kamigami no Asobi : Usually I ain’t into otome adaptations. But if it turns out to be decent like Utapri then I’m in 6) Soredemo sekai wa Utsukushii : This kind of fantasy anime seems pretty rare in recent memories, with characters, setting and plot reminds me a lot of the likes of Escaflowne, Slayers, and Fushigi Yuugi; typical sword and sorcery set in “not-exactly earth” place with the romance between lead characters being the main focus. Already read the manga and while it’s neither deep or groundbreaking, at least it’s a pretty entertaining read. Will give it a try. 7) Haikyuu! : Ok, as a sport fans myself, this one deserves a try 8) Baby Steps : Same as above 9) Ping Pong : Same as above Low expectations : 1) Ryugajou Nananananana : What’s this kind of show doing on noitaminA anyway??? 2) Captain Earth : Same staff as Star Driver, which is a complete crap. Can’t expect much 3) Soul Eater Not : Apparently the awesome Soul Eater franchise has turned into nothing but a bunch of cute girls with cutesy personality doing inane activities, something that I usually don’t give a microscopic damn about. Will give it a try but already expect myself to not like this 4) Mekaku City Actors : I have no idea what I’m getting myself into 5) Kenzen Robo Daimidaler : Piloting giant robot with pervert energy? This kind of show usually contains lots of sex humor that make me cringe instead of laugh. Might watch this if the mecha battles look decent and they tone down the ecchiness to the non-eye cancerous level. 6) No Game No Life : Lots of peeps on western fandom told me that this one is kinda similar with Mondaiji-tachi. Over-the-top humor and silly antics in fantasy setting. But, much like Mondaiji-tachi, the bizarre antics and humor in this kind of show usually gets repetitive and wears down very fast unless they can balance it enough with the plot and characterization, which I’m wary of. 7) Bokura wa minna Kawaiso : The manga was, frankly, damn boring. It has a pretty retarded MC and cast full of retarded people with severe personality issues. And much like Matrix, my mind simply can’t stand such stupidity. 8) Mangaka-san to Assistant-san : I don’t like over the top humor in which this manga is all about. It’s just a series of boke-tsukkomi antics where you have each characters insanely screaming at each other. At first, it’s pretty funny. But after 30+ chapters, it just gets, well, tiring. 9) Selector Infected Wixoss : zzzOkadazzz. Can’t stand her over the top angsty characters (seriously, why can’t we have more subtle drama with characters that don’t cry and yell and act very stupid at every single damn episode?) |

Since we haven't heard anything since then (and the twitter is empty...), we left it off the list for now. If we actually get some info, then we'll add it. We included M3 because it was just announced in the last week. - Locodol: I couldn't see a Spring airing date on the official site. Do you have a source? - Meshimase Lodoss-tou Senki: Ah, seems we don't have a DB entry for this yet. An anime mod will be on it shortly, thanks. rederoin said: We'll wait for a more official source on this.its listed to air in spring here. |

...wow thank you, this post is sriously helpful! I'm happy there is 3 new sports anime up there to make up for Kuroko no Basket ending. Haikyuu will probably be amazing, but I'm intrigued about Baby Steps and the Ping Pong anime. Also very curious if the new Fairy Tail anime will be any better than the previous. |

Another lackluster season, eh? Apart from Sidonia no Kishi, which will kick so much ass, nothing relevant or interesting or even decent so far. Mushishi might be decent but it did not need a sequel. |

This list comes in quite handy, good job! |
5 main aspects I base my ratings on: 1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it? 2. Is it better than Breaking Bad? 3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it? 4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL? 5. Is it actually good? Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant... |

That is simply impossible when the said product is subpar derivative experience that does nothing new or nothing interesting. So yeah, I'd rather enjoy actually good shit than lower my standards to mindless kitsch. |
