Everywhere I search for new anime I only seem to bump into Slice of Life all the damn time, Am I looking in the wrong places?

When I do find battle Shounen anime, its always the cliche storyline of some ordinary teenage high school boy/girl who one day gains a mysterious power or unlocks a unknown power hidden within them all this time, or better yet he/she meets a new student/transfer student who is actually from some secret government organization dedicated to defend the world from some shit.

"If you tremble with indignation at every injustice, then you are a comrade of mine"

When the union's inspiration through the workers' blood shall run
There can be no power greater anywhere beneath the sun
Yet what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one
For the Union makes us strong

People like to see how other people live. It sells. Why do you think soap operas are so popular?

The only ones I can think of that fit the OPs description are Bleach and Code:Breaker.

OT: Because slice of life is relaxing.

I don't. Too boring.
Seriously though, those that follow high school or focus on mundane activities without extraordinary elements are a pain.

Otakus eat up those type of anime especially if there are under aged looking moe girls in them . Those anime (school, slice of life with moe girls) sell like hot cakes to otakus.

Sadly the anti social, social anxieity otaku lonners from japan like to fap to moe slice of life and they buy them, thats why theres so much. And thats why i mostly watch retro anime from 70/80/mid90s because japanese otakus back then werent such losers and actually had taste, so anime for losers wasnt getting made as much. I do believe anime fans from anywere outside of japan have much better taste, if it was like that on japan we will be getting more of shows like bebop, trigun, EVA, galactics heroes, ect.

U mad, bro?

On Topic: Because SoL anime series are great, and most fans in Japan likes them and buys them. That's all.

Also you need to watch more Battle Shounens, OP.

Slice of life anime are usually easy to relate to, and don't really need a plot. As long as the characters are decent they can pretty much go on forever as long as the fans are there. Also, lots and lots of potential for fanservice, of course. :D

Because people use an overly-broad definition of "slice of life" which encompasses anything set in modern times in a normal world as SoL, even romance/drama series that have a definite plot arc and are not merely slices of everyday life.

Too bad those superior-taste non-Japanese fans didn't actually buy the anime they liked back when it was more prevalent and more widely available, and the "inferior" Japanese fans did buy what they liked. Gee, I wonder why the industry decided to cater to Japanese fans' tastes more?

And we did get plenty of shows like NGE, unless you don't count RahXephon, Fafner, Aquarion, Argentosoma, Gasaraki, Bubblegum Crisis 2040, Brain Powerd, Bokurano, and probably others that I'm forgetting about.

Google translate is getting more and more reliable. Here comes "haven't added it to my list."

@ OP - From my experience with slice of life, I tend to enjoy it because when done well, it really hits home and creates a deep connection that I can relate to. People might think it's boring to watch characters live their daily lives, but we only have one point of view - our own perspective on life. To see the world from different perspectives and explore those ideas is what makes slice of life enjoyable.

If you're talking about the LN school/club/harem adaptations like Haganai, Sakurasou, OreImo, yea, they're are pretty shitty and Japan has shit taste. But we also have pretty fucking good stuff in this genre, like Haibane Renmei, Natsume Yuujinchou, Hanasaku Iroha, Mimi wo Sumaseba... Search for the good ones and treat the trash like trash.
