Oh nice, Jack is back. Just in time too. The episode was okay I guess.
Action was decent though with the transformation scene and whatnot at the sea. That last part cracked me up though at the beach.

Better chase her down XD

Seems like nxt ep Platoon 1 and 2 meet. Let's see their interactions ^^ The boy will be disappointed when he sees she's actually flat lol XD

Also is that a new weapon for Sio in the pv?

Debatable if this counts as a Macross Missiles Massacre.

Also, if the EOs can take one ship like that, what's keeping them from taking several fleets?

Shio is really a Military enthusiastic person XD. The Musashi has been infected, but she is sad that it needs to be destroyed. RIP to Musashi :(

LOL her school swimsuit is all she has XD. Looks like next episode features 1st platoon and 2nd platoon working together.

Dropped. The characters and the world history figures just don't work except for Nobunaga. I wonder if this was done on purpose to highlite Nobunaga. I mean come on Ghandi?

Figures that would work better are Washington, Napolean, Alexander, Genghi Khan etc. This is basic world history i guess the writers failed in this area.

That pretty much is the major flaw of the show.

What makes this show work is Shio and her personality connection with Nobunaga, as a person in love with the latest weapons, who when she lets go loves carnage like Nobunaga, she is the perfect for match for him (and the best parts of the show is when she channels him - they need more of those).

But the rest? Absolutely no connection. None of them have anything in common with their "ancestor", even Jack the Ripper, I mean why would Jack the Ripper be aiding humanity, why would someone with his "spirit" be a good team leader? It isn't even like Jack the Ripper was a slasher, he killed with medical precision (I know that isn't the image he has, and I can accept the image, but even the "image" doesn't fit the concept of this show). As for the rest they have been, for the most part, completely dull (they spent an entire episode on the 1st platoon, and outside of the crush the boy has on Shio, it was pretty much a waste for character development).

I really liked the first episode, I like Shio's character, but they are not putting anything around her to help her carry the show. Up until now she has been enough, but even a great character can't rise when there is too much weight around her.

Too bad, that Musashi had to be taken down.

The first Platoon and second Platoon are going to meet each other in the next episode.

I mean, I know the U.S. is kind of brash about it's military might and all, but c'mon now.

But anyway, I'm in agreement that Shio's connection to Nobunaga is the only one that really works, and it's a shame. This show started out fun, but it's started to go beyond boring for me. The one good thing that came out of it was the OP. I immediately downloaded the full version. It's fun to drive fast to, lol.

Highly considering dropping at this point.

Edit: Eh, I'm gonna drop it after (after 2 minutes of thinking it over). Now I'm only following 19 shows this season. :P

Loved Sio's confusion deciding whether it's Musashi or Yamato. XD

Vidocq was awesome this episode! His planning was impressive.

Nobunagun's evil grin was the best. Though, she gets tangled by the "core object".. O.o

Musashi sinks. But I think it might come back though..

Last beach scene was funny.. Jack wasn't impressed by Sio's swimsuit. XD
The first platoon arrives.. The little guy will be disappointed after meeting Sio in person. XD

Whoa so many people dropping this, why though? I've seen far worse action anime like Machine-Doll, Coppelion, or even Strike the Blood but people still stuck through it even with the senseless actions and inferior battles (although arguably they have much more cute characters compared to the absolute none in Nobunagun).

At least this anime doesn't just put action scenes for the sake of action and every invasion objects had been taken down with well-executed strategy or combo from the e-gene holders while the invasion objects itself aren't just some mindless creature with no purpose.. not to mention out of the 7 episodes so far, 6 has been battle-oriented.

Well whatever, I'm certainly enjoying this far more than any other new action series presented this season including Noragami. This is certainly far more superior than Nobunaga the Fool or Mahou Sensou.

Part of the problem is that Nobunagan started strong, but hasn't managed to rise above the first two episodes, Nobunaga the Fool started weak, but has been getting stronger; so in watching on a weekly basis, Nobunaga is more entertaining even if we assume it hasn't reached Nobunagan's level (which I would disagree with).

A bigger problem with this show is that while the MC is a great character, the rest of the cast are nothings. Nobunaga has a better supporting cast. You focus on battle scenes and "lack of senseless actions", but you know people don't often enjoy a show for that reason. They like the characters, particularly the sub characters, and this show has been very weak on this front. Good characters trump good plot almost every time (I would disagree, but I know I am in the minority).

Edit: Personal rant. The US Navy's "greatest fear" is the Japanese navy attacking the Panama Canal? Really? Outside of the fact that 1) the US doesn't own the Panama Canal any longer, 2) US carriers cannot go through the Panama canal, and 3) one modern missile would have sunk the Musashi, I think that the US has more things to fear, even IN this alternative world.

I know the Japanese are slowing starting to gain a little pride about fighting the US in WWII, but that comment was just insanely ignorant.

This anime has turned out pretty decent actually. I'm really enjoying the battles and action scenes. I'm starting to really adore the idea of super-humans descended from historical figures fighting these monster things. It's still mindless action, but I see a potential in the plot.

I will give you Machine Doll, Mahou Sensou, and especially Coppelion.

However... DON'T INSULT STRIKE THE LA FOLIA/SAYAKA/(the other like 4453 girls)!!!!

I jest, of course, but I personally think Strike the Blood is worlds better than Nobunagun. Personal opinions: they're a funny thing, ya know?

Well, I don't particularly like the series enough to get in an argument about it but I disagree. At least the basics of their abilities are easily fitting with their real life actions/characters... Just using Gandhi as an example, at the least his shields fit his pacifistic nature.

But, of course their personalities are different, since no matter how you look at it they're still different people who have gone through different things. I actually think the only interesting thing going for the series right now is seeing these people's abilities and saying: "Oh, yeah I guess I could see how that would work." I think it's actually pretty funny how Ghandi is now a pervert, Galileo is an overly outgoing eccentric, and Jack the Ripper seems like a bit of a tsundere.

I think it's supposed to be more of their drive/passion that carries over when they have the AU Balls... which could explain Jack the Ripper. As long as he's killing things and cutting them open I don't think it's too farfetched.

Gawd - this show is so bad it's becoming entertaining just because of that. And the writers are trying so hard to be just a "little bit" different. I'll give them points for resurrecting the Mushashi instead of the Yamato. (Poor old Musashi - sunk by US PT boats in the Phillipines. Don't bring big ships into crowded waters...)

If I dropped this now I wouldn't miss it a bit, but I'll stick around just in case it gets either better or much, much worse...

Okay I loved that battle. It was great!

Also I just noticed now that Vidocq has the same VA as Athrun Zala (actually it was my brother who noticed-I was watching the ep, he passes by while Vidocq is speaking and says, "Hey, that sounds like Athrun")

In terms of plot does not seem a silly as you might think, well narrated through a logical whole and sufficient, no involvement extreme, but that's okay.
