I've actually held off on reading the manga all this time to actually see it in action because the first and second season felt amazing to me. xD Yeah I do agree that the fights aren't as heart pounding or exciting yet but we'll see in due time. However I was kinda disappointed with Shimabukuro's fight. It just didn't feel all that exciting and kinda boring.

But nonetheless, it stays my second favorite manga/anime ever.

Which anime is your favourite then? I'm just curious because this is my favourite anime of all time so we might have similar tastes.

It's a pretty boring answer but for me nothing has managed to top One Piece.

Haha, you're right, that is a pretty boring answer but it's respectable nonetheless. Despite being drastically different, I think HnI and One Piece share one important thing in common. Both shows keep getting better while expanding the world they're set within. The reason why I personally think HnI is the superior show, however, is because I find it more relatable since it's set in a much more realistic setting, because I think it's funnier and because I think that One Piece has really decreased in quality ever since the time skip. I actually think that the time skip destroyed all of the momentum the show worked so long to build up and it hasn't been as good ever since. Pre time skip, I don't know which show I would say is better though.

Either way, both are great and I can't wait for next weeks episode! I'm dying to see Ippo vs Sawamura!! This fight can't come fast enough

I can agree with you that OP lost a bit of momentum thanks to the timeskip. But they did show why it was needed, they just weren't ready or strong enough to face what's coming. Fishman Island arc is not one of my favorite arcs in the series and slowed them down but the buildup with Punk Hazard and the things now happening in Dressrosa, it's building up for something that would have been too much for the Strawhats before the time skip. If you've read the latest chapter you know what I mean

And I do see your point on why HnI would be a better series, those things are what makes me love the series so much. It's basically almost a tie for both of these series but if I had to be forced to choose between them OP just wins out.

Now we have one more thing to take care of before the fight....and if Ippo really needed anymore motivation to face Sawamura....he's going to get it in spades.

It's funny that Ippo has never had a significant time skip. It was around April of 1990 when the manga started and it's now March of 1998 in the manga. If you look at the videos of Sawamura, they do say 199X. It is currently June of 1995 in this part of the anime.

Ippo, Japanese Featherweight boxing champ known for almost effortlessly taking down some the biggest, strongest, and most ruthless boxers in the whole world.........taken down in ONE punch by a man who hasn't boxed in over a year. Nice...

AGAIN, THIS OST THOUGH <3<3<3

Did you confuse Ippo with Rocky or something because Ippo didn't take down any of the strongest, biggest ruthless boxers in the world. He wants to beat Sawamura and defend the title a fifth time so he can start trying to do just that. For now he only beat strong local boxers.

Wow.. I wasn't expecting Rising to get this amazing! People talking like it isn't as good as the previous parts need to rethink themselves, this episode changed my entire opinion on this part! I'm really hyped up now, I can't wait to see Ippo's evolved Dempsey.

On another note, it was fantastic to see Volg back; he's one of my favorite characters in this series. That sparring match was great and so was the animation used towards the end of it.

I say you need to read the manga. The real ending to the Sawamura fight is taken out

I read the last bits of the fight, I don't understand why they left a few of these things out. They would have made it more extensive in a good way.

I think I just might have to start reading the manga after I'm done with Rising, this stuff is just too good.

That OST when they sparred was pretty great.

I also love the art style when Volg landed that counter.

Looks like Ippo figured it out! Now, will his lower body be able to handle the force?

Aww, sad to see Vorg leave right after he came back. Oh well, still a great series of training eps though.

I'm guessing the next ep will be more lower body training. Looking forward to seeing how Ippo evolves the Dempsey

The time with Volg was so short :(
Glad to see him exchanging punches with Ippo one more time in the ring :)
Hope he come cross paths with Ippo once again in the future :')

And damn, Ippo's devastated. And the punch coach mentioned, I really hope it doesn't end up something really bad for Ippo in the future.

I really like Volg's character, one of my favorites in the show. One lone wolf who have one of the best skills & moves out of the entire cast. That part with Ippos mother remembering his was sweet.

In another note, I'm interested in seeing how Ippo's going to develop the dempsey. Also I'm wondering what is the purpose of the 2 slaves Aoki's got lol I don't think they're boxing.

Shame that he lost his mother, I guess Ippo's mother looked like his mother afterall
I'll miss him again

So, it's not title Ippo should worry about
It's his life that Ippo should be worried about

Well he just found it himself by accident
I guess his life as boxer will be shortened

Vorg is the real mvp, putting so much effort to help Ippo to defeat Swamura.
Seems like this upcoming battle can kill Ippo, that is some new kind of pressure.
Glad that Ippo found a way to evolve his technique.

As devastating as it was to have your signature move crushed, it was definitely better that a friend was the one who countered Ippo's Dempsey Roll instead of Sawamura. It was so surreal to see Ippo getting knocked out so badly with just one punch, that's for sure. Spasiba, Volg.

While Ippo's solution to spice up Dempsey Roll sounded fairly simple, I did not expect that briefly stopping at the very last moment would cause that much strain on his body.

too bad to see vorg left, and considering the anime is ending with this series, i will probably won't see him again unless i will read the manga. lol

if the quality will remain like this i will score this 9 as NC.

A little quibble.
The problem is not in the pronunciation of Russian words, you can understand what the characters are saying.
The problem is that she said kindly: "Good luck, sonny."
And he rather rudely replied: "Thank you, mother," instead of "Thank you, mom."
'Cause no one tells their own mother "Mother".
