Yes! MORE Eipos scenes. Though not the I'll-torture-you-then-let's-play-chess side of him, but he appears in more scenes. I wonder what happened between Rin and the detective, that flashback wasn't too clarifying.

Maeno, you have one perverted kid. >_>

I love how all characters are important and keep coming back. At this pace, Rin is gonna end up meeting their grandkids.

I liked the cop. It seems that the one night with Rin was the most unforgettable of his life since he brings it up just before dying.

The more I watch this the more I think I'm watching some John Travolta action movie, you know the ones with the karate chops. (Not a complement.)

On the plus side I'm happy the doggie's back, he's so fluffy.

Impressive episode, I really wonder if Rin-chan really died or if she'll be just fine in the next episode! The story from this episode seems far from over but well let's see what will happen next!

Okay, I think they're pulling the same cards one too many times now. It's still very fun to watch, but --some-- aspects almost seem repetitive at this point. Maybe it'll change with the next episode though.

The time skip to year 2025 was interesting to see.

GodDAMN! HotDAMN! Twenty fucking twenty-five. 2025! This shit just keeps getting more and more exciting with every time skip.

That was some S.A.C. shit. It's a goddamn fucking shame this was done by Xebec/Genco. It would have been really interesting if this was a proper TV series done by P.I.G. instead. And I can say that with confidence because there's no fucking chipmunk think tank in here to ruin the mood (it would be great if the sex scenes were shorter or implied).

And well, now we learn of Genta's sex.

I'm a bit confused right now about the girls Mimi has sex with (maybe even Rin at the start). The grasshopper-drinking girl, what happened to her? And how do these female informants die? Aren't they immortal as well?

I think they are not immortals. As fair I remember, in the first episode(s) (1st or 2nd) there were only 1 informer. In the 3rd or 4th episode, she brought another girl, younger and she is older. Maybe it was my imagination...
Well... whatever, even she was "immortal" she can die (episode on the ship).

Rin got shredded...Damn, that sure is one violent way to die...

I don't want to imagine how she regenerate from that... well if she had survived, of course.

I keep wondering how that man Rin is always talking to is. He had angel wings but he kept on living this whole time period. Well, he might be using the same method as Apos to be immortal.

I cant believe they just 'killed' the dog just like that lmao.

I wouldn't want to be immortal anytime soon, imagine getting shredded to nothing but tiny pieces then regen-ing back to normal bone by bone, your organs, muscles, flesh... i dont know if it can be felt but if it can... ouch.

I wonder if it's ok to necro these kind of thread?

Just finished the episode, and was bothered by the way Rin died..
It reminds me of that news I heard some months or years back when someoine got sucked into the same exact airplane thing. Wonder what it's called though. More reason to be scared of airplanes.

I thought that dog would of been dead and I was getting myself ready for Mimi's tears, but it seems that the dog is probably immortal too.

Really sad how one of the information trader died, I really liked her as she gave good information and of course, yuri fanservice.

Watching anime like this makes me wonder if I really want to be immortal, but for now I know I want to live.

Wow, I thought this episode was great! They went for a futuristic setting this time eh? I guess having immortal characters allows you to do that. The whole premise of 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 is really interesting (though I'm not 100% sure the difference between 1.5 and 2.0) and its impact on society. I liked how they had Teruki in this one after his introduction last episode. Funnily enough I just finished watching Free so I KNEW I recognized his seiyuu from somewhere lol, odd hearing it go from "Rin-senpai" to "Rin-san" XD The plot this time was pretty interesting, this old guy "kills" his daughter to turn her into a software program pretty much who scours the net (uh, being a sex bot? Lol) and then gives her a cyborg body. I wonder why Apos was helping him out though? Not to mention having that assassin try to kill Rin again. Apart from that, we find out that Genta the dog is immortal too! :O Too bad about Tamocchan the detective guy, he was one of my favourite side characters :( That sequence of seeing the sniper was really well done, definitely made me think he was aiming for Rin until a second or two before it happened when I realized he was aiming for Tamocchan. Also I wonder who Rin is always talking on the phone with? It looks like an angel?! The preview seems to hint that we might get to find out about that next episode ...

Love the dog being immortal. I slightly suspected it in ep 3, based on the longevity, but here it was confirmed, nice.

So, 7 years until we get 2.0? Can't wait!

My favorite episode by far so far. Let's see how long it takes Rin to pull herself together out of millions of bits and pieces flung over miles.

With all the women either being cyborgs or immortals, even the dog, I'm surprised that the Grasshopper Martini Informant wasn't one of them. The new one definitely prefers Mimi more so she's stuck with the recon job from here on out.

I get that 1.0 could be the real world while 2.0 would be VR but the numbers in between made it pretty convoluted. All this stuff about AI and robotics were pretty eh but it ended in a very understandable way, with Rin and Ruon getting shredded by a jet turbine, ouch. She's immortal so she'll be fine since Apos is the only one who knows how to extract a Yggdrasil seed but that doesn't make it any less painful.

They'll have to move out and the informant cop's dead, rest in peace too. At least Maeno junior can live a relatively quiet life now.

I was seriously not a fan of this episode. There are several reasons for this. The primary one is probably that Rin is shown to have more heterosexual tendencies than we had seen in previous episodes, between Teruki and the cop guy and the mysterious bearded angel... And Mimi also is going to that female informant a lot now, implying that she actually wants to have sex with her... I liked it much better before, when all the evidence pointed to Rin and Mimi being in a committed, relatively monogamous relationship. (Both of the previous times that we saw Rin and Mimi exchange sex for information with those female informants, it was with great reluctance.)

Another thing I didn't like about this episode was the setting. I'm generally not a fan of near-future science fiction settings unless they're done very well. This one was not in my opinion, and it just wasn't very interesting to me.

And finally, Teruki—he was pretty annoying to me, and the romantic undertones to the time he spent with Rin certainly didn't help. He makes me miss Kouki even more.

She is probably bisexual or something transcending even that (pansexual?). If you're immortal with literally all the time in the world there ever will be, it's worth exploring anything.

Watch the last two episodes, and read my posts on their discussion threads, for a more complete explanation of how I feel about Rin's sexuality. I would tell you right here, but I don't want to spoil the rest of the show.

Sooo, I’m wondering, why TF didn’t they tell the blonde guy that they were associates of his father? Why keep that from him?

Any who, this is absolutely the best episode yet. Even if the blonde guy does have a bland personality. Watching him topple out of the airplane was funny too.
But again, this is the best episode thus far, in my opinion. Like the other ones, it had a lot of confusing moments. But the android revealing the scheme at the end helped me put two and two together. I just think the anime doesn’t do an adequate job of establishing what happens and why… and I feel the viewer is often left with a lot of questions, due to misunderstanding and loose ends.
But for a third time, this was the best episode. It was just generally very entertaining.

Side note, I appreciate their depiction of 2025. After all, this anime is from 2006. Shows from back then typically jumped the gun and ramped up the future to an unrealistic level — but it’s intriguing how this show from 2006 depicted 2025 in a manner in which not much has changed. Everything still looks similar to Episode 3. Their depiction is also pretty similar to 2020. So it’s cool they didn’t go Jetsons on us. The mobile phones, cars, planes, and buildings all looked normal. Interestingly, Episode 4 accurately predicted what the future would look like 1.5 decades in the future IRL. The only thing we don’t have yet is computer tables and walking androids with advanced AI’s, hehe.

Yeah this episode wasn't good, and it's a shame the series was not as entertaining as I remembered it to be as a whole, more of just the first two episodes from looks of things. This felt dragged on and not fitting that well with the rest of the show so far tone wise, plus Rin Asogi's just not been that interesting to watch either in this episode which is a shame since I thought she was great in the first episode and pretty solid in the second one. I couldn't be bothered with the AI storyline this time around, and not like much thrills were there either.

That was the silliest episode yet, by far. In this episode we learnt that in the very near future in Japan any hacker with sufficient skill can mobilize a full platoon of soldiers with no less than three tanks, block the traffic of a busy street in central Tokyo, have them do a domestic operation in place of the police, have the soldiers abduct a civilian and then have them murder two civilian women and destroy their bodies with a grenade just by "issuing a fake online order."

So extrajudicial killings and abductions of civilians for no apparent reason are fair game in Japan as long as a "legit online order" allows them. OK. That by itself was ridiculous enough, however the fact that the army phoned noone up the food chain to verify the "order" and just went along with it killed every last bit of my suspension of disbelief.

Adding insult to injury was the "Red Code" shooter. The guy who was presumably a government employed shooter (used for terrorists, hostage situations etc) received an (online) "Red Code order" to assassinate a veteran police officer and -again- complied without questioning or verifying the order.
It was not that it was difficult to verify it either, since he had his superior officer on speed dial. However he called them to let them know that he killed the man after the fact, without verifying it first! Come on dear writers... seriously?

This show's so fucking good. This episode was really interesting. It's so weird how the first twenty minutes of every episode seems so confusing, but then it all becomes simple in the end. I wonder what drop of blood Rin gets to regen from, but thats pretty brutal regardless.

Yeah, it wasn't as good as the previous episodes. They used too much of the basics of this show. I do hope that we'll get to see Rin Preview. Having Maeno's son play a role was cool.

Oh and Internet banzai... only exists in anime. Beware of the net crisis in 2020.
@cyruz
What net crisis? Curious about your comment now since 2020 passed.

Anyway, we have entered 2024 is real life, by the time I posted this comment, yet we are nowhere near the imagined high-tech setting showed in this episode. In the Mnemosyne anime, humans invented virtual reality. Sometimes I wonder what are the odds that, in real life 2025, we will finally invent androids, virtual reality, sentient A.I., and every sci-fi tech showed in episode 4 of Mnemosyne. Currently, the smartphone games and nintendo switch are my main source of game entertainment.
