Higurashi Kira is just pointless OVAs. It is NOT a direct sequel, and in reality the basic storyline for Higurashi ENDS with season 2. Although, YES, Kira was pretty damn bad. |

I have many but I'll name some since I cant decide which one to call "the most". 1.Haganai NEXT - compared to the first season,in my opinion, this was lame.I know it is a romance but this is boring compared to the first season.Sure,Rika got more interesting and redesigned and she looks better but outside of that nothing made me think it's better than the 1st season. The 1st season was fun this one is just...... 2.Zero no Tsukaima series - first season was alright,I liked it but the continuation was too painful. It's alright, for me,for a tsundere to start tsun-tsun,even a whole season, but to continue that way for another season(and I bet and for the 3rd one) is beyond bearable. 3.Shikabane Hime:Kuro - let's not talk about the voice of the male MC.What kind of idiot would support her love, who is beyond in love with his "brother",without bringing some sense back in her? I have many more but that's it,for now.. |

Eureka 7: AO - the entire series was a total asspull. The author tried to capitolize off the success off the first series and failed like a d-bag. Zero no Tsukaima: F - They rushed like 7 LN worth of material in this. Entire arc's were done in like 2 episodes. Such a shame because the rest of the series was really good. |

It's just that the second season was a bit confusing, and the whole background with the geass power, CC, and all that was, in my opinion, ill-explained and lame. Also, I didn't like that one kid with the long hair. Forget his name. The other one with the geass. Rolo was ok, but I feel his character was wasted. They could have spent more time developing him. His death would have been a lot more depressing if I actually came to care about him. About Shirly Her death was stupid and thrown out of nowhere.. but not in a good way. It was predictable in the events leading up to it, but overall, I feel that it didn't fit well with the rest of the episode. Idk. It just felt forced. And then, like, just tossed to the side. The last episode, in my opinion, redeemed it though. Seriously though, Code Geass R2? You're gonna pick one of the best shows probably ever to have been created? I agree with some of the points you've made, but believe me, Code Geass R2 is faaar from being the most disappointing sequel ever made. Not even damn close. As for my own, I'd maybe pick Darker than Black: Ryuusei no Gemini. It was SHIT, at least compared to the first season. |

Well at least Nisio didn't end the series with Nise like he originally planned to and he said that Nise was just him goofing around and writing for himself unlike Bake and Kizu. |

Gunslinger Girl: Il Teatrino by a very long way. The original has this delicately balanced perfection which the sequel guys don't even seen aware of. (Endless Eight is class. The ones that disappointed me the most were... 1.Bubblegum Crash-As a fan of the Bubblegum Crisis OVA series, I considered Crash to a badly done sequel, from the story to the poor effort in the animation quality considering how well the Crisis episodes were animated later on (for eps. 5-8). Other things that disappointed me was that there was no resolution to the Knight Sabers' conflict with Genom and Leon & Priss were not made into an official couple. 2.Bouken! Iczer 3-I really liked the Fight!! Iczer-One OVA, but I hated the sequel Iczer 3. Iczer 3 was a bad protagonist with her childish nature plus her seiyuu was horrible sounding, the villains were also lame, the music and songs were not my cup of tea, and I preferred the Nagisa in Iczer-1 over the one in Iczer-3. 3.Sailor Moon R & SuperS-I hated R because of the lame filler arc in the beginning and when it came time for Chibi Usa's appearance, it didn't take long for me to get annoyed by her, she ruined R for me and SuperS was even worse as it not only was a Chibi Usa-centric series, but the first half was just a copy-edit-paste affair in how the episodes played out. I'm not nostalgic over Sailor Moon anymore considering how the monster-of-the-week plots seem to be the forefront of the majority of the series. |

JustALEX said: OK, so one of the most exciting thing as an anime fan is when an anime series you really like gets a sequel. Conversely, one of the most frustrating thing about being an anime fan is when said sequel fails to meet the expectations of the previous season. Give me your most disappointing sequel and in order to not be a listing thread, please explain why. So, I'll start. My most disappointing sequel is Shakugan no Shana III This was the final season of a pretty entertaining series and an anime I once held as one of my top 10 ever. To say the very least without spoiling, the season was a drag, nonsensical (IMO) and very underwhelming as a finale. Read my mind right here. While I never considered it to be in the same league as the anime with the other 3 queens, it was still pretty damn good. Then I watched the first ep of III, and dropped it immediately. The love interest leaves, becomes the leader of the enemy faction without much explanation, and what I can only assume the female lead goes through grief and then has to become strong without him after obsessing over him in the past 2 seasons. It just went completely downhill. |

Higashi no Eden movies, specially the second one. Everything was gradually being thrown into the trash can, until that laughable ending just destroyed it all at once. Rurouni Kenshin Seisou Hen - WTF WAS THAT?! Lots of out-of-character actions and nonsense just to turn it into a melodrama ending. Dragon Ball Z and GT. Come on, only the original Dragon Ball needed to exist. Then it became all about power-ups and power-ups and asspulled arcs with stronger enemies just to have more power-ups. And GT was just hilarious. If you can count 2nd halves as sequels too, Zetsuen no Tempest trainwrecked after episode 12. Episodes 8-12 were simply fantastic, I expected the remaining episodes to be on that level, but instead we get a generic rom/com with only a few good scenes and dialogues (specially episode 21, that was a bright light in the middle of darkness), besides a Deus Ex Machina ending. |

Hmm, this is a tough one because to be honest...it feels like almost every sequel I watch is inferior to its first season. Well, I shouldn't really say that since I do think Chihayafuru 2 is MUCH better than its first season and so far I'm enjoying To Aru Kagaku no Railgun 2 so far a lot more than its predecessor. Well, going through my list with the scores in (parenthesis), this is what I got... Digimon (7) - Digimon 2 (5) It'll be hard for me to comment on this since I haven't seen them since I was a kid, but generally speaking, I didn't like the new characters as much as the ones I liked in the first season. Sure, I know the characters from the first season still play a role in this one, but three of the main characters were different and I didn't like them in the least. Eureka Seven (8) - Eureka Seven AO (5) Okay, this probably gets my vote as my least favorite sequel. What made Eureka Seven so interesting was that it had a cute romance, some really cool characters, and an overall interesting and unique universe. What did AO have? No romance, forgettable characters, and a plot and setting that was WAY too out of the elements of what made the first season so great. Although, I'm not sure if this really counts since it's more a "2nd series than a 2nd season." I'm not really sure if the original Eureka Seven was broken up into different seasons (I don't think it was). Gundam Seed (7) - Gundam Seed Destiny (4) If Eureka Seven AO was my least favorite sequel, then Gundam Seed Destiny is a VERY close second. Strangely enough, for a lot of the same reasons. While the original series characters were still present, the focus switched from Kira to Shinn...and nothing says "likable protagonist" like switching leads from a noble, kindhearted lead to an emo asshole with a misdirected revenge complex. On top of that, the writing for this sequel was just awful. It was so unoriginal that it basically felt like the first season all over again with just a different character focus. Hell, even that character focus had a similar motivation factor as the first season. Seitokai no Ichizon (8) - Seitokai no Ichizon Lv 2 (6) I'm sorry, but generally speaking, bad things happen when a new production studio takes over the production of a series. That's what happened with SnI 2 as the first season was produced by Studio Deen while the 2nd season was produced by AIC. The animation changed slightly, there was a change of cast with a few of the seiyuu, and honestly, the witty comedic writing was just lacking for the second season. Instead of creating a comedy with funny pop culture anime references, it made the series self-aware. It just wasn't as funny and it had a piss poor resolution. Shakugan no Shana (6) - Shakugan no Shana Second (4) While I thought the first season was a fine series that introduced an interesting concept, the second season was padded more than Jake Berman when he first showed up to practice in the Little Giants. It seriously felt like barely anything happened in the 2nd season. The main plot seemed to take up about 12 of the episodes while the other 12 was the most unnecessary padding in existence. To Aru Majutsu no Index (7) - To Aru Majutsu no Index 2 (5) Outside of Accelerator's story, this season was a drag. It felt like a recycled mess that was obligated to cram as much fan service in as humanly possible. The final product was just a mess. Tsubasa Chronicle (8) - Tsubasa Chronicle 2nd Season (6) The 2nd season was so forgettable that I can't even tell you what happened in it. Then again, I guess that's to be expected since all they ever do is go from world-to-world trying to find Sakura's feathers (memories). The second season was more of the same except the worlds were less interesting. |

Don't hold me to it, because it's been AAAAAGES since I've seen Code Geass, but if I remember correctly the chess scene (full series spoilers) - Had something to do with Lelouch and that prince guy exchanging blows on each other's ideologies and Mr. Prince (I swear to god I forgot his name) starting to get a handle on what type of person Zero was, remembering how his little brother Lelouch acted the same way when they were younger. But to the main point, my biggest disappointment had to be Seikon no Qwaser II. It took a series that, yeah it had huge fanservice, had a compelling story and decent fight scenes and turned it into a half assed revamp with the latter half being purely nonsensical fanservice without a real story. S2 is my only series rated below 5 (I can't even count Mars of Destruction) and that says alot about my distaste for it. |

Second season of Haruhi... why does this exist ? The endless summer arc should have had only 2 episodes, it whould have been so much better. Then there's ending, oh my god the ending, i think episode 6 (the one in which Haruhi and Kyon are trapped in school) whould have made a much better conclusion than the boring last episode we were given. Overall this season was boooring... if they ever make another season of Haruhi, or at least a movie i wish it will be as good as the dissappearance (movie) PS: I actually like Codea Geass R2, it hit my emotional strings, i was really attached to some of the characters and the ending was beautiful in my opinion |
