Kind of don't understand the reason Satoshi put out. But romance is always complicated so oh well.

On another note, are we going to see any romance development between Oreki and Chitanda? Maybe ep. 22 will have something.

Wow, this was a great episode. I have a question though: what event was Houtarou referencing towards the end of the ep when he said to Satoshi that thet were both even?

The 2nd half of episode 1. The part where there was a hidden club in Kamiyama High. It was just a made-up story by Oreki and Satoshi helped him.

Wow, heck of episode this week. So emotionally charged, and the animation/art was great at showing it. When it comes to that, this was definitely one of, if not the, best episodes of the season.

I suspected Satoshi from the start. Either that, or I thought maybe Mayaka took them because he changed her mind. I full out prepared to hate Satoshi for what he did, but his reasons made it not as bad to me. And Chitanda was on the war path this episode. Never seen her so fired up and angry before.

Well, only one episode left. Jeez, I wonder what is going to happen. The PV was so vague. I wonder if any couples will finally get together, or if nothing will happen. Can't wait!

WTF Satoshi!

that was such a weird reason. i don't really get it.
and Oreki not getting any choco, well at least Chitanda cleared things up that they have this weird family tradition.

so is the next one the last one? shouldn't it be released now, since its Sunday...

DAMN.
I freakin love Satoshi and I wanted to see his "dark side" so badly :D
Well. I'm happy now.
He's the only (really) interesting character. I always prefered the main character's best friend. But... Oreki and Mayaka are great too
Sadly, I just can't stand Chitanda. I wish I loved her, it would make this anime 10 times better but I caaan't.
Anyways. Great episode !

Satoshi's move was pretty cowardly but I still sorta liked how everything turned out. I am so curious about his and Mayaka's convo at the end though. >.>

This episode was great and I really liked this love drama along with the feeling of the mood. Chitanda and Mayaka were both really cute this episode too, especially during their girl talks lol.

Better than recent episodes, but still kinda eh? Who would steal chocolate? Why wouldn't they just eat it? Seemed obvious it was someone there, and Satoshi was the suspect. Turned out he just wasn't ready to answer.

But you know Chitanda..... always sticking her nose everyone and being too hyperactive.

A little surprised Chitanda didn't give him anything. Still they'll pair up eventually regardless of how annoying she is.

Wow Fukube's rationality is dumb. Whatever, but I legitimately thought he was gay since around ep 4. I have nothing against gays; it would've been a much better reason than I DONT WANT TO BE OBSESSED@@@ what even. so that was disappointing.

The ending to this episode wasn't sad... I think, anyways it really isn't supposed to be a romance. Thought their was gonna be some final arc, can't say I'm not a little disappointed that their won't be, like an arc maybe about Chitanda's uncle suddenly coming back or maybe for once actually showing Orekis older sister's face.

It was kind of obvious that it was Satoshi himself who stole the chocolate.
I really don't like his reasoning, I can understand it, but I really don't think there would be any problems with him loving Mayaka. I mean even if ha was becoming the obsessive type again, then Mayaka would be there to help him.
I hope that he was calling her to confess :/

Oreki was badass with that coat, it really made him look like a real detective.

A psychological episode, I can understand Satoshi's feeling, but the others's feeling too.. I do not know whether I can blame Satoshi or not ...
But in the end, I think that all have happy ending though ... :)

I didn't hate Satoshi at all from this episode. I'm able to understand him and knew he was like this a few episodes back. However....

Busting into the astronomy club like that and yelling 'Give back the Chocolate' was extremely disappealing. I was really pissed by that action. Chitanda needs to calm down. Lately she's been pissing me off. I guess that's her character though. I read a lot of typical shoujo and don't get pissed off easily; but something w/ the animation and her voice and how she was this whole episode really got me ticked off

I just finished reading all the discussion about ep 21. Nowhere did anyone mention the significance of the opening exchange as Eru catches up with Oreki as they near school. I mean, when Eru explains to Oreki why she didn't give him chocolate, saying it is because people in her family don't give gifts to those they are really close to. Watching Eru's expression change when the realization hits her that she had accidentally confessed to Oreki was priceless, as was Oreki's when he realized the significance of what Eru just said. They both became very awkward as they quickly glossed over the event and then became quiet and introspective while contemplating the exchange.

If you missed this, the rest of the exchanges between the two during this episode take on a very different feeling. It changes the whole feel of the episode.

This show handles the growing attraction between Eru and Oreki in a very subtle manner. You can clearly see Oreki's response in his suggestion to Eru in the closing moment of ep 22.

Hyouka. What an incredibly good show!

Even on valentines day there is absolutely no development in the relationship between Eru and Oreki.
This is hopeless, it won't be addressed in the final episode.
To make matters worse, Satoshi acts like an unrealistic douchebag, as if to prevent any kind of romance in the slightest for this anime.

If he was going to deny her feelings he shouldn't have stolen the chocolate anyway. No way could he eat it after going though all that.

I was thinking that in this series also Fuku and well characterized, almost better than Oreki, pleasant episode in which we see not only lovebirds and chocolate left and right, there are also disappointed and angry! XD That work of art made by Mayaka was not destroyed, what a pity, Fuku deserved to be kicked in the butt. All too quiet to be the penultimate episode, oh my!

This episode was better than the last. Houtarou isn't as close to Satoshi as he used to be or thought he was. I understand what Satoshi was saying about being obsessive at the end. It's good that realizes that he's being selfish though by thinking like that with Mayaka. I wonder what he decided with that phone call.

One of my favourite episodes. Man, i knew straight away that Satoshi was the culprit, but breaking the chocolate? Ouch, i really felt... Sorry for Mayaka. But his explanation really did explain how he was during the summer festival. Maybe, during the whole Juumanju case thing, he was trying to see if he found an 'answer' to his ideological state, but failed? But the ending seemed promising, if he apologises sincerely towards Mayaka, then (even though its still really villainous on Satoshi's part) he's done the best thing. If he won't 'obsess' over her, then going into a relationship with Mayaka would just hurt her, and man, she's just TOO CUTE :'(
So hoping that Satoshi found his answer whilst talking to Oreki (though Oreki didn't even know what Satoshi was spouting XD) and gave her his most sincere answer. Because, to me, he really does like her.
NEXT EPISODE IS THE LAST :(

This ep would have been more realistic (and better) if Satoshi just said he was gay. I mean all his interests and hobbies are pretty stereotypically gay. ~Gays don't exist~ in Japan though I guess... I wonder if there will ever be an anime that actually deals with a realistic coming out.

"Urushibara Ruka. The mannerisms and voice of a woman... No... More feminine than any woman. But he's a guy. Taller than Mayuri, but so very thin... But he's a guy. Looks great in a miko outfit... But he's a guy. It's already twilight And yet, it's so hot. The cicadas are crying. But... He's a guy."

It's Valentines Day, but got off in a really rough start where Mayaka's chocolate was stolen. Wow never see Chitanda being so much sad like this before, looks like she can't see other people sad. It was Satoshi all along with His motives, because he doesn't want to be obsessive anymore. But then they make things up at the end.

Well I got to say Satoshi's character was slightly developed nicely in here, always being happy, and quit of being obsessive. Now having to make things up for Mayaka in a phone call. LOL when Oreki says the chocolate is bitter XD.

So is it safe to assume that Mayaka and Satoshi are just normal friends? I finished watching the entire series and I'm sure the answer is that they're just friends as of now but I just want a straight up answer as to confirm that they're not dating; or better yet, if they are. (99% sure they're not.)

Giving him bitter chocolate, that was spot on... :(

Satoshi...WTF?! I don't understand his mindset and he and Mayaka go well together. It doesn't even make sense..."I don't want want to be obessed with anything so I can't be with Mayaka"....What...And Oreki's utter lack of a gesture towards Chitanda throughout this whole episode. Out of all the shows that could've had a decent Valentine's Day episode this one II figured would have a good one. I mean we are nearing the end of the show...

Oh man, now that was a great episode! Valentine's day sure causes troubles eh? :P
Young Mayaka and Satoshi :3 Poor Mayaka ... working so hard only to have that happen eh :S
Tbh I thought it was Satoshi all along, or maybe a girl who saw it and also liked him so she got jealous and stole it. Good to see I was on the right track :P Pretty rough for Chitanda too, who got so worked up and into it ...
Really liked the bits with Houtarou and Satoshi. Like at the arcade when the former was thinking about how the latter changed, then kind of took it back at the end. So Satoshi basically is just being happy and free and not worrying ... well, I thought he took the chocolate just because he didn't like Mayaka back and didn't want to hurt her, but I was wrong about that. At least he ended up calling her after ... maybe he'll say that he likes her but can't accept her feelings right now or something? :O
ALSO LOL AT HIS SISTER'S CHOCOLATE FOR HIM XD
Last episode's next! Hope it's a good one :D
