| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- I'm really liking the color scheme for this arc, monochromatic with bursts of color highlights. In our art, it is said that incense is heard, rather than smelt. Seeing, hearing, eating, drinking; there are many pleasures in which men can engage. To hear a scent is certainly the most refined of them all. Genjikou is definitely an interesting game. It was fun to see how a scent can evoke varied emotions and associations from different people. Lol at the samurai's reaction on the fourth scent (horse dung!). XD The three living suitors are jerks, barely caring if the woman they're thinking of marrying is dead. Clearly, they were intending to marry Lady Ruri for the Toudaiji. Am mightily curious as to what the Toudaiji is. Also, I just noticed that the Medicine Seller's eyebrows are just half the length of his eyes. :D |

| I figured the Medicine Seller would win the Genjikou game, but I guess his choice, "Illusion" was more so alluding to the events happening around them without them knowing (Such as Ruri and Jissonji having already been killed by the Mononoke, and the Ruri they saw during the test was merely an illusion). |

| Liked the snowflake falling sidewards then downwards. :D The samurai sure is funny. Random "Rawr!!" + "Horse Dung" = LMAO First time to see the Medicine Seller surprised. And the Genjikou game is quite amazing. Using a scent to allude a chapter of a tale. Curious too as to what is this Toudaiji they're talking about. |
| I really liked the designs of the characters in this episode. especially the guy who wasn't practiced in inscence. he looked cool. and that woman they were trying to marry looked really creepy. |
| How can a series like this be like this and NOT become monotonous! Every arc uses the same formula, but somehow, it manages to retain its freshness and originality in its writing. |

The visuals for this arc are more muted but I quite like it - especially the color becoming richer and brighter when they were inhaling the different scents. Also, I am quite curious as to what this Toudaiji might be... |

| Man, I can't believe how absorbed I was into this series the first time around to not have noticed the changing colors and what the links between shared colors meant... Makes so much more sense now. |

| The art was really good in this episode. The splashes of colour when they inhale different scents. The samurai was funny. Kusuriuri showing up all of a sudden was funny too. And for a second the idea of him being their to propose was amusing as well. |

| Sort of like Sin City lol. This was a really atmospheric episode, probably the most so far, the black and white was very effective. I don't know how to feel about the gore in this ep tho, like it was very in-your-face and that isn't what Mononoke is usually like |

| Interesting episode, this one! I liked the comic relief from the three suitors, especially the samurai. And the way that the Medicine Seller said "domo" at the start was hilarious! |

| To hear a scent, you must smell it and listen to the story it is telling you~ This was a very funny episode akin to the pretentiousness of the typical "professional" wine taster xD The two suitors were extravagantly analyzing the feel of the different incenses while the samurai tried to do the same only for silence to fill his mind. Of all things to remind him of the smell, he had to think of horse dung omfg It was less confusing than the other episodes which is a nice breath of fresh air but I wonder how they'll unfold this mystery~ |

| ow this is an odd escenario, like really, hearing scents? Resonating with many people's thoughts in here, this episode is refreshing, totally oposite to the explosion of colorfulness that we have seen so far. I like the use of color to accentuate certain moments/people. |

| This was a good episode considering how the other arcs started, it's not quite as complicated and a lot easier to follow. I'm having some great expectations for this one. |

| That samurai guy doesn't know shit about incense but he wants to go after that Toudaiji thing. The horse dung part was funnyXD and I like how the samurai's reaction to the incense isn't given(probably cause he didn't even know what he had experienced). |
