Never eat the food there ever. Ewww

Overall I didn't like this episode as much as the previous ones. The ending did redeem it a bit with some info about Warp though. I also felt a little sorry for Vanilla even though I don't like him.

Quite touching that she stayed through with him for all that time. But everyone is seriously a pedo.

I thought it was a good episode. I'm with Netforce and thought it was indeed touching how Quilt stayed with him for all that time. It was nice to see some clues about Warp.

It surprised me a lot, when they revealed that they use the bodies to make food =X

No one has mentioned the crappy animation?

If the animation was better, the episode would be better. Hopefully we don't get this kind of shoddy korean work anymore.

I don't think this is the last time we'll be getting completely abstract animation from Kaiba...

Anyways, this episode wasn't quite near as good as the others imo, but still okay. Although it just kinda, suddenly ended... Like, it felt it was still somewhere in the middle of the episode, then black fade out, ending credits. But whatever, bring on the next ep~

I agree with those saying that was not on par with previous one. As for animation, I think it was intentional. Also, quite interesting concept of 'Dr. Frankenstein' ^_^

Seeing as this arc is not over, I won't dare pick it apart for flaws. "Abipa" may have more in store for us yet.

Kaiba continues to be truly inventive in both plot development and animation.

Oh I'm surprised when you say that this ep is less interesting than the 4th I felt exactly the opposite (in fact I slept a bit during the previous episode as it wasn't really to my tastes ;)). Very good episode overall, I was quite touched by this story and it seems that we'll have some character development soon too !

Kaiba is the most weirdness anime i have seen so far and I love how they start a new episode out of blue but somehow enjoyable and interesting to watch and follow the plot.

Warp?
I'm seriously kicking myself 'cos I can't remember what significance he has... it's just... significant.
I think.

*ARGH MY BRAIN*

Man, that weird-o animation was startling - it did feel intentional the way it started off really flat & lifeless, then gradually became the colourful, curvy Kaiba-style we all love.
And then it did it again.

I think I'll need to rewatch this episode...

I'm not a fan of the animation for this at all, it seems very amateur. It makes me think of a homemade flash animation or something like that.

On the other hand, I thought the plot was fabulous. Quilt's a really neat character that seemed to get more complex and interesting every few minutes. I wonder how she got back into her old body, though?

Ditto. The animation for this episode was fantastic in a different way. Apparently someone named Choi Eunyoung was behind the script, storyboarding, animation direction and direction plus a bit of key animation for this episode. It was definitely a different style of animation, but it worked very well for this episode.

I think every episode so far has been on the same level in terms of content, they're all exploring the implications of memory chips and disposable bodies. Some plots might be better received than others, but all are the same level of quality to me really. In each episode we get a kind of downbeat resolution to a way of life that's almost limitless in possibilites. Its that juxtoposition between something that can provide heaven on Earth being so hellish, that is the staple of the cyberpunk/sci-fi genre, most notably in literature, and Kaiba is representing it well.

and it seems that we'll have some character development soon too !

Uh, we've got nothing but character development from nearly every character thats appeared in this show!

I think the artwork's a fair complaint, and an avenue for an interesting debate too. If the artwork was that way for a reason, do you think the reason is good enough to excuse the shoddiness? I could draw a piece of shit on purpose, that doesn't make it any good, so the fact that it was "on purpose" doesn't excuse it in my opinion. I wonder what that purpose was too, was it like that for any obvious reason. World gets exposed, so art gets richer? People exchanging shitty bodies for good ones represented by episode exchanging shitty artwork for good artwork? Any reasons I come up with seem like a stretch, so I'm afraid I'll have to dock this episode on animation credit. Otherwise it was a great episode though. I agree that it doesn't quite match up with previous episodes, but that is hardy a criticism, it's more like saying "OMG, you aren't 100% perfect!"

The same thought occurred to me when the guy was explaining the process to Chroniko.

Vanilla waited for Chroniko (Kaiba actually hahaha!) in the same spot even when it rained and he looked for her even when he was sick. He's turning out to be a sweet and caring guy after all but knowing the twists and turns in the plot I could be wrong.

Oh well on to the next episode then.

Unlike what most others have said, I liked this episode the best of all so far. After this episode I'm sure this is one of the best anime that came out in 2008. Now I'm upset at myself for not watching it sooner. I guess I had been somewhat put off by the art style, but it is as that kiddo guy said: ''Don't judge a book by its cover''.
I found this particular episode to be very touching and intriguing at the same time (tnx to the ending). It also shed some more light on the utterly grim dystopian world the story takes place in.

Fascinating episode.

I find this episode really thought-provoking. It's the same as the previous 2 episodes about life circumstances

but this one has just this psychological impact different from the others. The same feeling I got from watching Mushishi.

The animation itself is nearly surrealism as someone said above.

And the revelation at the end is just surprising.

Another good episode. Very good, to be more precise. I'm really impressed with how the show is made. The stories are interesting not only because of the sci-fi memory chips, but mostly because of the characters. Every episode covers different aspects of human nature shown in a very original way.

Such a subtle, eloquent, expression of concept complexes like awareness, inter-connectedness, and gratitude. Also, the idea that the discarded bodies of people who chose new fashionable freak bodies was made into food that the fashion conscious consumed in a never-ending cycle is creepy on so many levels.

After this episode this anime is a 10/10 for me.

Maybe not as strong as other episodes, but definitely a good one.

I'm starting to realize how important is the ost in this series. There are some scenes where the characters are just doing stuff, and the only sound we hear is the soundtrack. It creates the appropriate atmosphere and shows in a nice way all the emotions.

I actually liked the art style a lot, wouldn't mind if it stayed like this for the rest of the series. It was more extreme and simple but I think Kaiba can use art like that.

This was a really touching episode for me ;_;, I'd say it's one of the best so far, second only to the first one.
