Damn, Chizuru really got put on the spot this episode.

This complicated thing between her and Kazuya has been brewing around all season so it was time they faced it together. Yeah, Kazuya is still pathetic to watch but he didn't just run away this time. I mean, he at least grew a pair and faced Chizuru on his own. One thing I did slightly like about this season is they did take time away from the school setting for this very long extended trip. They're obviously setting up part 2 for this season as well. What a cliffhanger.

What the actual fuck. They actually just skipped the whole Kuri x Ruka shit. This adaption is actually just horrible in every way, its not even funny anymore. I’ll give the staff credit for having the guts to end the season this way. Honestly, it feels like Reiji is just trolling fans, making people invest only to drag things out with no real development. This series is beating a dead horse at this point.

The drama has gotten so messy I can’t even make sense of it anymore. Kazuya’s whole monologue was wasted, Chizuru’s been inconsistent since the start of the season, and Mami is just... being Mami. At least it ended with the characters actually sitting down and talking for once instead of endless baiting and filler. Still, the arc is, and will continue to be unbearable overall. Once again, the show delivered on absolutely nothing. I didn’t think they could outdo season two’s nothingness, but this was 12 whole episodes of nothing happening. They didn’t even reach the iconic panel, so nothing of note this entire season.

Next cour is probably winter, and I just hope they pull it together. Not only was this the weakest content-wise, but it also looked terrible every week. Honestly, the drop in kappe’s involvement really shows.

Damn, Mizuhara being put on the spot no thanks to Mami's gaslighting, her feelings only get even worse from here out...

Kazuya, clearly at the point of no return, wishes that everything didn't happen between him and Mizuhara, but being knee deep into her affections, it's all-in or nothing for the simp to FINALLY make the lie a reality that has been casting on his heart for the longest time. At the same time, Mizuhara trying to stop him crossing the line between client and lover, and thinks she can outright deny his words, but it's her private message with Mami that stops everything in its tracks.

Clearly, Mami's strategy is to play the innocent girl to get Mizuhara to confess the truth, and yet, the rental girlfriend thinks she can still talk her way out of everything that's transpired thus far, when the truth is that she's already being cornered without realizing it, with the family heirloom ring being the most pivotal entity. Even Mami has her breaking points, and this is one of them: giivng her money to personally "rent" her and talk her way out of Kazuya and the mess she's made for him.

We're coming up to that very moment now...just having to wait probably Winter for Part 2. That's where the TRUE cucking really begins.

Honestly, even the explanation they give in the manga for why Mami is a sociopath is pretty unsatisfactory, Chizuru should just beat the living daylights out of her because all anyone on this show thinks about is themselves

Didn't expect for the arc to go this long. And I thought we would have the shocking Chizuru reveal in this episode, but good to see that there will be another cour.

Blushing chizuru cute but Mami chan's the best. Can't believe anime of the season is already over. They intentionally made this into two parts so they can win both anime of the year 2025 and 2026, brilliant planning smh.

This would be the moment when Grandma should step in, slap Mami, and tell her to go to hell.
But our time will probably continue to be wasted on a lousy story.

Chizuru always running away is starting to get annoying. At this point I don't even know what she wants to do because Mami clearly doesn't intend to let her get away with it any longer.

Still it was an exciting episode and I'm looking forward to Part 2.

Well I can’t say this had any of the charm or progress of the last season. By this time in season 3 I was praising Kazuya for his work on the movie and helping Chizuru realize her dream.. here I’m banging my head on a wall because everyone’s being so fucking stupid and secretive. I will give Kazuya credit for having the balls to try and confess, but Chizuru should’ve been honest and explained why she wasn’t ready to hear that. Complete step back in every way other than Mami showing up for drama.

Ending off on a cliffhanger after all this drama is criminal, I will unfortunately continue to subject myself to this torture by watching part 2 because it’s like crack, horrible for you, but fuck ,it’s enjoyable lmao.

I laughed so hard when Mami said Chizuru doesn’t get an opinion and it’s not up to her anymore, when the entire point of this little operation was supposedly to restore Chizuru’s agency and get her out of this situation with Kazuya lol. Right then and there Chizuru should’ve walked away and realized Mami had other plans. Nagomi should be smart enough to see it too, but whatever. Not sure what I expect out of this anymore other than perpetual blue balling and drama.

Even though I already know what might happen in the manga, I still really love this story. It feels real in a way—because not all girls will fall for you just because you rented them. For them, it’s just business, and it’s up to the guy to control his own feelings.

I’m super excited for Season 4 Part 2 in 2026, and I really hope the series keeps going until the very end.

Honestly, people who don’t see the point of this story are missing out. I love it because it was clearly created to reflect reality. To those who think Kazuya should just end up with Mizuhara just because he spent money on her—come on, that’s not how real relationships work.

Not everything has to be some “love at first episode, marry by the finale” kind of story. That’s just not realistic. Some people give this series a low rating simply because it didn’t go the way they wanted, but that doesn’t make it a bad story. For those of us who actually follow the manga and understand the message—it’s on a whole different level.

So that one panel did not happen here in the finale of Season 4 Part 1, I was kinda hoping it would because I’m just dying to know the context of it and if it’s actually worth the amount of hoopla around it, but I guess that’s just another reason to be excited for the next part. This was a strong stopping point regardless tho, the cliffhanger stings pretty bad but I can’t help but like it, like Mami going mask off and going as far as PAYING Mizuhara is wild, but at the same time it’s so fitting for a series called “Rent-a-Girlfriend”, you almost forget the renting aspect at times but this is a good way of being reminded of it. Also it’s about time Mami stopped being the sneaky snake she is and actually bared her fangs, she may be a mean bitch but I enjoy the drama she creates as always.

I also really liked Kazuya’s determined run to Mizuhara, the Season 3 OP was fitting when he got his mojo back, I really have nothing but respect for what he was trying to do here, it’s just a shame it was once again at the worst time possible and now he thinks he’s been rejected, that means he’s gonna be laying in a pool of his own tears for months before Part 2 comes out lol. It’s sad but I recognize that he was about to set everything straight, in that moment he was ready to risk it all, not sure if he’ll ever be able to get that same amount of determination again but I liked that we at least saw it here.

And that was Season 4 of Rent-a-Girlfriend, for now… and I’m very happy to say that, just knowing we got a whole other cour coming after where this ended feels really good, I’m hoping they take this all the way to the end but I understand that it’s already very lucky to get the adaptation this far, I have nothing but appreciation for all of the folks that made this happen. Now I will fully admit, this season was not as good as Season 3, but my enjoyment was still very high as it always is for this series, the drama was spicy and the babes were in swimsuits, it was still a very good time. I’d say the biggest sin would have to be the absence of Yaemori and Sumi, they appeared in the OP and ED but that’s it pretty much, but at the same time I get the plot of this season didn’t call for them being there, so it is what it is, I can only hope they are relevant again at some point in the future. And once again we got an amazing OP and ED pair, I’ve always loved the music choices in RaG and this is no different, the OP’s visuals are probably the best in the series too, I really don’t know if they can top it in Part 2.

And with that, another RaG summer is over, not sure if the next cour is gonna be in winter or what but really it doesn’t matter when we get it, it’s RaG summer no matter what time of year they go with.

Guys I think im actually having a allergic reaction to this show, like this show makes me mentally spaz out. Like I love drama anime and manga but holy hell this is the stupidest anime ever with 0 romantic progression stemming from a author writing up a pair of stupid protagonists in a world were every male is a complete weirdo. Like you got random guys every 5 minutes just checking Chizuru out.

Like don't get me wrong she's pretty but Jesus Christ guys are not like that irl, and this disgusting stuff the author does with male characters extends onto his other work Children of the Shiunji family yet at least with that anime he's capable of making a half interesting plot and cast. Though that anime has its own issues too. Yet somehow this piece of trash is getting ANOTHER SEASON.

Like wtf give your actual only good work another season not this piece of trash.

You know I gained a little bit of respect for Kazuya when it looked like he was gonna end this only for that to all go out the window when I realised he was just tryna confess. LIKE JUST END IT WITHOUT CONFESSING. GO talk with your granny and tell her everything. Chizuru and Kazuya might be the dumbest pair of characters ever.

LITERALLY HALF THE EPISODE WAS JUST KAZUYA AND CHIZURU RUNNING

No wonder Sumi wasn't in this season, the shows gotten so bad she couldn't physically handle it and vanished into the aether. My only positive from this season/anime is Mami and Sumi.

Trash anime 4/10 will keep watching because im stupid

im begging keep Mami in the show because if she leaves I might actually die

Not that I ever thought that I would dislike an episode, but this "finale" was really disappointing.

Contrary to all hope that has been built up since the first episode until now, everything that was to be hoped for has not occurred. It is really honorable that Kazuya, despite thinking so much and only seeing problems, manages to stand up one last time to tell Chizuru his feelings. Here he ran a long way in order to find Chizuru, while he thinks about a lot of stuff. When he reached her location, she is busy dealing with mommy (on her phone). As Kazuya approaches her, the music shifts from a hopeful tone to a harder one, signaling the impending disaster. Here in the final moment, it isn't understandable why she doesn't want to her what he wanted to say and this makes it so sad. It is definitely remarkable that Kuzuya manages to hold on to her nevertheless and (like Chizuru during her confrontation with Mami in Season 1) still manages to force himself into a confession. It's clear that Chizuru is under much pressure because of Mamis intension to tell Nagomi the truth, but leaving that destroyed everything. So while Kazuya is in sorrow, she and Mami discuss about the way to deal with the lie she and Kazuya told Nagomi. From here on it's clear for Chizuru that Mami only wanted to plant despair and destroy Kazuya (to that point that she tries to buy Chizuru for it). From here on, it isn't clear what Chizuru really wants and it is incomprehensible why she cannot decide one path. One can already see this as a different kind of ending (compared to earlier seasons), but it fells like really a shame one.

So how does the plot of the fourth season end? Actually, only with confusion, sadness, and unfulfilled hopes. While I really liked the animation, syncronisation and music that was played, the season doesn't satisfied me. Hopefullly the fifth season will continue in a much better way...

At least in the last three seasons, it seemed like it was mostly just Kazuya the one who was hopeless but Chizuru’s denial of accepting reality now in the forefront. At this point, Mami’s actions honestly seem the most sound and that’s basically the breaking point for the show lmao. And then there’s Ruka who has sunk even further. Why didn’t they bring Sumi to Fukushima, would’ve been a breath of fresh air xD.

I’ll watch the next season just because I’ve gotten this far but hardly expecting anything tbh.

I know the timing was bad but still f*ck you, Chizuru!
Mami suddenly got some kind of a saviour complex and she's behaving like a psychiatrist.. f*ck that psychotic b*tch ! She's the one who's acting like someone with a Stockholm syndrome. After breaking up with Kazuya long back, b*tch still has some feelings for him and can't say it out loud.
Chizuru is f*king ridiculous! Should have given that b*tch Mami a good slap on her face when she started threatening her in the first place. Does Chizuru really believe that the relationship between her and Kazuya is still something just Rental ? Who do they think they're fooling !?
The f*ker Kazuya should just end things with Chizuru once and for all if he doesn't want to tell his family the truth. He can tell them that he broke up with her and take the blame. It would make it very much easier for his family to accept instead of them knowing everything.

It's my own fault for thinking something will happen but damn does Mami create great tension.

I love how the viewers are defined by two categories; Mami enjoyers & Mami haters, probably bc we have nothing else to talk about. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't gonna watch the next season. I've invested too much time into this series and Mami will do something, I believe πŸ™.

This was the best episode of the cour, mainly because it had the least things wrong with it. Also, this cour ends on Chapter 214.

The episode starts with Kazuya whining and moping like usual. This time it's because Kazuya Grandma just expressed gratitude to him, and it'd be kind of a dick move to immediately tell her "shes a fake!!!" after such a tender moment. He's about to give up on asking Chizuru out. While on the ground, however, he sees his phone case and is reminded of all their moments throughout the past 3 seasons, all while Renai Millimeter Film plays (and NOT Centimeter for some reason??? whatever they're both great songs).

After these flashbacks, Kazuya makes a firm decision and runs to find Chizuru. He says that, no matter what happens to his reputation with his family and friends, no matter how much this ruins his life, he WILL ask Chizuru out. I would think that this speech is insanely desperate, but it's lowkey badass. At the end he's even like "If I didn't want to ruin my life over you...THEN HOW COULD I SAY I WAS IN LOVE!" like okay Kazuya I see you.

Kazuya finds Chizuru and, after a few painful seconds, he stands his ground and looks at her in the eyes. The past 47 episodes worth of romantic tension flowing through him, and he...
gets interrupted by her. For the 7th time this season.

Almost forgot what anime I was watching.

He's not having this, though, and as she's walking away, he GRABS her arm, looks at her in the eyes and...
gets interrupted by her. Again. For the 8th time this season. This time, he gets interrupted by her running away. This, obviously, leaves him devastated.

So, what was the oh-so important thing was so important that Chizuru had to skip the confession? Mami threatened to reveal their secret for, like, the millionth time. Oh no.
You know, if you had just listened to Kazuya's confession, accepted it, then it wouldn't be a lie anymore that you two are dating and Mami wouldn't have anything over you. But, since our heroine doesn't think clearly, she RUNS over to Mami to stop her from telling Kazuya Grandma. Mami, however, lied, and when Chizuru gets there, Mami is no where near Kazuya Grandma's room. Mami tells Chizuru that they will end this all once and for all, and she gives her money for a rental date. This is the second time Mami and Chizuru have went on a date is this show lowkey turning into a yuri???

The cour ends with the title card "(Used To)-Rent a Girlfriend", which I really hope is the title for the next cour because that's funny.

Yes, this arc is so long that I got it all mixed up and thought that it was over, but this apparently affected reading this arc in the manga, and so I will give it a high score, only because of Mami, the character who pulled this whole season, although I would like her to appear more often, the rest of the heroines, to whom there is at least some sympathy, that is, Sumi and Mini, not counting the excellent opening and ending, are not in this season and yes, I still think the plot arc is too drawn out.

Chizuru used to be a pretty confident and (sort of) well adjusted person, but now she’s a mess and on the verge of a nervous breakdown. And is that really all worth it for the lies they told? Just tell the truth, endure a short period of hate and embarrassment, and move on.

But then we wouldn’t have a show.

12:30 that was a very serious moment. This is like Kazuya’s 3rd time trying to confess now? 🀣 each attempt is more serious than before, but alas, failed in the end 🀯 Mizuhara’s reactions are always πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

15:50 that is a big hotel resort they are staying at to run that much 🀣

My 2nd Summer 2025 anime finished! πŸ˜πŸ™ŒπŸ» for real this time. Nearly everything will be ending this week or next. This was like my 2nd Summer 2025 anime to start too. Another crazy good season man 🀣 so bad it’s good. I know how hated this anime is because of the author especially. I’ve seen the latest manga panels on Twitter, so I know what’s yet to come 🀣 Especially today’s. We got to see more great Ruka scenes this season. Mami definitely came out of hiding and is now the biggest threat. Mizuhara’s feelings for Kazuya is definitely more apparent now too. Kazuya definitely manned up a lot this season and made a lot of bold attempts to confess. We barely got to see Mini at all this season πŸ˜‚ Once again, I LOVE the OP for this season. “Umitsuki” - ClariS. Beautiful song and OP. Definitely will learn the full version to it someday. Glad I got to sing along to nearly every episode πŸ™πŸ» See you all in Season 4 Part 2! πŸ€£πŸ™ŒπŸ» gotta love how it’s already announced. Hopefully next year.

honestly i am so f'ing tired of them letting this c*nt walk all over them
this wouldn't happen in the real world. someone would slap the sh*t out of mami and tell her to mind her own business.

this is what made me hate the show (other than kazuya being a spineless doormat), its that the interactions are so detached from any scenario actually humanly possible that there's no way to actually get to a point of suspension of disbelief that is possible with even much more out there anime.

hope i was able to get what i mean across.

i am hate watching this, only because i have invested so much time i want the ending. but this has not been enjoyable for the last few cours and keeps getting more unenjoyable.
