| THAT IS NOT A FROG… IT NEVER EVEN WAS THAT TO BEGIN WITH!!! Seriously, how long did it take us to arrive here? Maomao literally had to play with it as if she was shifting gears to finally confirm that one thing she intentionally never wanted to. You see, any more of that and Jinshi might have lost the war he was fighting with himself. Maomao had her reasons but yeah, she should’ve listened to Jinshi there before calling out his “throttle” with insults involving frog nomenclature(lol) .. I mean he did take it personally in the end. I know people will be mad at Jinshi for what he was trying to do, and it’s understandable as well, but yeah, man’s pride took a major hit there… though that still doesn’t make forcing yourself on someone justifiable, at all. Good that he apologised in the end:) This episode is really monumental, in a sense that after this, Maomao will have to be on her guard whenever being around Jinshi(for an altogether new reason), at least for some time. I was waiting for this particular moment, and I genuinely thought they’d cover this part in the last episode itself, but they somehow decided to push it here. Serves a good end to the first cour, still. On the political side of things though, of course that bunch wanted to eliminate Jinshi, as yeah they know his true identity. Based doggo for saving a LOT of lives there. Now that talk was indeed awkward, but yeah, they would try to keep their relationship as is.. would “try” xD We’ll have new intro and outro from the next episode too, so yeah, looking forward. |

| Y’all really gonna hate me because I’m not gonna shut up all weekend about this episode 😩 fuck crumbs, we got an entire Maomao and Jinshi buffet today. The frog is finally out of the bag, the worst kept secret in the show, Jinshi not being a real eunuch, is finally revealed to Maomao. LMAO at her refusing to listen to him say it so she wouldn’t have to deal with the repercussions. But girl you know you can’t just say someone’s meat is the same size as a frog without them getting mad 😭 not Jinshi storming off in a huff because she said it was “somewhat large” lmaooo. Some things we just don’t say! Always good to learn more about my boy Gaoshun. Hearing about his backstory actually explains why he and Jinshi get on so well and are a good mentor/mentee duo. They both sort of got thrust into positions without their consent and are just making the best of it. Also confirmation of our other worst kept secret about Jinshi being the emperor’s brother! Something tells me that this assassination attempt is just the first of many challenges he and Maomao will face so she better start listening lol Worst assassination attempt ever. If you’re gonna use a flintlock pistol you better make sure you send your best shot lmao. RIP to the noble who tried to take out Jinshi. Glad Maomao apologized to Jinshi quickly and didn’t let things drag out, but it really does make a ton of sense why she’d struggle to understand people’s feelings and social cues given her upbringing. I’d love to see she and Takao from Ameku MD this season collab because they have the exact same issues Jinshi should’ve known better than to give Maomao Ox Bezoars if he wanted her to actually pay attention to what he had to say lmaoo. Hilarious end to the episode and perfect transition into the second cour. Nice mix of Jinmao and lore stuff! |

| Seem like our eunuch isn't a eunuch at least that's what's was clearly suggested this episode and has been hinted for a while now. That again the past few episodes pretty much confirms that Jinshi has a double identity. The question is what will Maomao do with this information and will it affect her future. |

And that's practically every ''closer'' scene of her with Jinshi. Their normal conversations are much more pleasant than scenes where Jinshi is clinging to her and she flinches, asks him to leave her alone, wonders how she can escape etc.It was the same in this scene, good thing that the smart but ugly af dog Lihaku saved her. It's not romantic. It's very one-sided for now. Imagine if Jinshi wasn't beautiful but ugly or average, then everyone would call him a pervert But since he's beautiful, he can get away with a lot of creepy actions. Mao is literally more attracted and excited by Bezoar than Jinshi XD It's good to finally know Jinshi's real name. Well, at least Maomao admitted that he's a big frog in her thoughts. Although it was frustrating to watch, I understand why Maomao didn't want to listen to Jinshi. Given her social standing and the past she has endured, it makes sense. Seeing her cry as a child was sad and more so in the considerations she lived through. Well, at least she got the medicine she wanted, but I doubt she'll be able to look at Jinshi the same way again after this. |

Waiting for woke moralist to jump and say how this rape/pedo behaviour, cancel Jinshi. Anyway she crossed the line a man has his pride. Classic kiss bait, but for a moment she was down? Damn Bad dog... Cat & Dog caught the culprit. Lihaku is quite useful and so is his dog. Poor Basan got played around whole time. So the reason Jinshi using mask because he has two roles as Prince and Eunuch and as a prince he can't be seen with his godly looks. But I still can't believe even after all these he still couldn't tell his secret to Maomao. This is not even his fault now, this girl got so excited be ox shit he gave him the cutest smile and shut him out before he can say. And has plan ready to snitch him. Tf😐  I am starting to lose faith in my ship. Poor Jinshi stay strong. Great first cour, last episode was a blast. Only bad thing about new cour is this amazing OP will be changed. 100% agree. I really like the series overall but these scenes with Jinshi are so off-putting. There are times where his interactions with Maomao are really fun and light hearted but scenes like the ones in this episode are kind of ruining the show for me. |

| The secret is finally out, and plenty of intrigue remains for the future... A lot of tension for Maomao and Jinshi in this episode, whether it be frogs or certain other parts. That whole situation during the frog scene could have been handled better by both sides, but at least no one got hurt in the end. This did feel like an extremely important episode from a political standpoint, with Jinshi's identity, as well as the assassination attempts against him, especially because it wasn't the first time we saw something like that. Going forward, Maomao and Jinshi are going to need to exercise much more caution in how they act, now that the truth is out. The second cour starts next week, and to reflect on the first cour, it certainly has not been my favourite stretch of this series thus far, but that doesn't mean it hasn't been a good time. The little pieces of answers that we get with each mystery continues to be important, and things will certainly get more tense from here on out. |

If you don’t like the drama around who jinshi is I’d leave the series. Cos the entirety of story revolves around this and it only gets worse from here. Like much more about it than you’ve seen so far.
