Damn, this episode got serious fast. The harpy attack and use of ancient magic added a lot of drama and excitement.

While that didn't break the party, it definitely sets a precaution about the usage of ancient magic in the future. Shuro is such an interesting character this episode though expressing his mixed feelings.

There are few things which should be kept hidden.. for a better cause, from a few people, but guess this concept is too foreign for Laios lol. Don’t blame yourself, Chilchuck, for his denseness.

But man, setting these lighter moments aside, I mean they were good for the while they lasted, because what followed afterwards was something truly horrifying. Dead bodies and dead bodies.. left, right and centre. Falin’s chimera form, which was a kind of dragon plus harpy together, literally laid waste to these people, in the most brutal way. I mean that led Laios to attack his sister, so we can guess the extent.

Falin is kind of done for, as not only that chimera form but she’s casting that dark magic too without any effort. They should consider themselves lucky that they made it through, albeit, only a very few of them lol. But this dungeon being the dungeon, of course they’d be revived back. But hey, that was an experience of a lifetime lol. Though after whatever went down with Shuro, Laios should take a good brief look over himself as a person xD

Felt the segment with Falin happened a tad too fast, and lacked the kind of impact the fight with red dragon had. But okay, this was fine.

A cooking show being so suspenseful? Who knew.

Laios tells Shuro he's brought back Falin using ancient magic, creating tension between them. Chilchuck interrupts to report a harpy attack on the cooking group. Benichidori, Hien, and Asebi confront the harpies, but Asebi disappears after Benichidori and Hien are defeated. Later, the adventurers encounter Falin, now transformed into a dragon chimera. Despite attempts to stop her, they fail. Laios moves to kill her until Falin speaks his name.

Say what you want about Kabru, but he's onto something. Laius and Sureau were risking everyone's lives by not going for a kill shot. It was only when their party stepped in and took the fight seriously that they made any progress. Sureau's character got more depth, which is nice since he was mostly seen as a pretty-boy bonbon stalker. I bet Asebi will join the party next. Looking back, she didn't show up in the harpy fight at all, so there might be some intrigue about why she's with Sureau's group.

I miss when this series was just about cooking in dungeons. Things got dark real quick.

The subs we want start with "Really, though.". "Wow, how shameful" are dub subs.

"It's so cool!" Never change Laios.
Amazing fight. Fun how with resurrection magic existing, you can kill characters left and right like that. Also Falin was hot when she descended at 6:51

20:37 What Laios said here: "Since slitting her throat didn't interfere with her ability to breathe, she may even have another air intake. She didn't even flinch when her throat was slit. It wasn't leathal, but it made her lose control of her body and..."

One of the best episodes so far, loved it. I hope we see Shuro again at the very end and he properly confesses to Falin.

Pacing was a little fast with the fight but this series just keeps on improving for me after a sluggish, fairly disappointing start. Action looked great and bloody, intensity was right there and Failin's chimera-like form was brutal to watch as a whole. The revival stuff does kill that tension a little bit but it's not surprising, at least most of the episode was good here.

@Softhenic03 I think prolonging the Falin fight will more so result in " a NO choice but we have to Kill Falin" thoughts strongly.
The red dragon fight went longer since there was a plan and the characters involve don't immediately die with one wrong move.

The Falin fight took them by surpise and people died faster since they attacked Falin unknowlingly how that thing is basically as strong as A red Dragon and probably more stronger now since it can do magic now. If all the charcters there know that Falin was basically a dragon or even stronger at that point then the characters that got killed probably would have took that fight with more caution

The fight with Fallin was quite brutal. Episode was good but felt like the pacing was too fast even though it adapted 2 chapters as usual.

@E-Satie Some scenes definitely needed more time, but sadly their timeslot is limited to 25 minutes. The chapters it adapted are very beefy in content after all.

Laios seeing Chimera Falin for the first time "Would. If wasn't my sister the human part.".

Senshi the whole battle with the food plate.

The other half-foot gave a lot of shit on Chilchuck but, Chilchuck really protected his fellow half-foot.

Shuro angry that Laios was dense but, seeing that Laios knows that Shuro wants to propose, is a great progress.

Dragon Falin, so beautiful. Waited for this so long. Absolutely loved watching her. Specially watch her stomp the annoying guys, was waiting to see them get wrekt, satisfying. Laios will always be Laios, his first reaction was so freaking cool lol. Things were looking bad for them but atleast they've come to an understanding and their journey continues. Kabru though, what could he be planning?

The raw truth of Falin being resurrected by dark, ancient magic, fuels Shuro from Laios and Kabru's words in anger, Chilchuck's reaction is precisely what we've been thinking all this while. But being a trustworthy person before, this could potentially break their friendship for real. So far, that damage is known by few people, and Chilchuck wants to minimize the damage as much as possible, even if under the threat of harpies, with one of them being Falin: an evolved dragon and harpy chimera hybrid of a monster. Everyone is in grave danger, but Kabru and his party aren't just going to stand by and watch their comrades die just like that, and even Laios had a moment of hesitation, him being the worst person to go against his own sister being controlled by the lord of the dungeon, and this battle isn't the last.

To Shuro, he wants to at least save Falin's soul, but at her current state, defeating the elf magician is instead the key, which is what Laios intends to do. On top of recovering everyone as much as they can, Shuro intends for his party to go back to the surface and not go back to the dungeon ever again. Not forgetting to eat egg omelets made from Harpy eggs, Kabru really is desperate lols, but in the end, everyone is rather well, and both Shuro and Kabru's parties prepare to dwell back to the surface, leaving Laios and his party.

There's no more turning back to save Falin.

The speed and efficiency Kabru had at gutting Griff-Falin though.

Love how they all (or those that survived at least) still sat and shared a harpy omelette or two after all the heavy stuff that went down. Dining on monsters after a traumatic event is such a human moment.

Also, everyone internally panicking while Senshi's just like "what about the food tho" is absolute gold.

Well, this episode did a heck of a lot to get me more intrigued about the characters, and even for a character I felt in largely indifferent about in Laios, I find his attitude rather interesting. Kabru and Shuro also, great characters. I expected there to be repercussions to using black magic to revive Falin, and wow, was the tension at a peak in this episode. Might be one of the best executed episodes of the entire Spring season so far. After a sluggish start, I feel this could win me over very quickly. Maybe we've only just begun.

I'm kind of surprised that nobody said anything about the past of Kabru (monsters murdered his family and Elfs saved his life I wonder what he thinks about the Elfs).
About Kabru's group, I wonder what Kabru himself thinks about Laios after what happened and what he planning to do about him now after he met him. It also seems like the one that had a bad opinion of Chilchuck changed his mind about him I wonder if other people in the group also changed their mind about Laios's group.
I also wonder what will happen with Asebi she left her group but it doesn't seem like she ended her part in the story yet (maybe she follows after Falin or maybe Laios's group will meet her in the future).
Are all the people there ates that egg in the Manga? I mean it looks like just Laios and Kabru ate that.

Best episode so far, but like someone else said, them being able to revive each other like that, unfortunately, kills the tension. We see them get killed, but minutes later they all come back to life. Characters dying don't seem to be a big deal as it's not permanent, which is kind of annoying. So it doesn't matter if characters risk their lives. Any dangerous moments is all pseudo-danger. They can be as reckless and suicidal as they want. Because they'll just be revived in the end if they die. Re:Zero has a similar issue to this. At least in Log Horizon, they're inside a video game world, so people not perma-dying is logical.

Laios had absolutely nothing whatsoever to apologize for and equally neither Marcille to feel guilty over. They both did what they believed was correct - and it definitely was the correct move, in the sense of being preferable to letting her just die and rot - and then strove the utmost toward realization of that goal once deciding upon it. They made the right decision and while it's good to see the very realistic ramification within this world (socially, among other adventurers and proper society, and so on) and all the character tension and drama, it was also ultra-satisfying to see Laios stand up for himself, Marcille, and his party in the end, formulate an objective, vocalize it defiantly without compunction, and then not waver from setting about pursuing that objective in his and his party's own way at any and all costs.

I was a tad worried by proxy at some point into the episode that Laios and Marcille, who again I reiterate, did absolutely nothing wrong in this instance and have nothing to apologize for, would succumb to essentially being browbeaten and essentially bullying and peer pressure. I like these characters alright, but was never super emotionally-invested in them or the story in that way to that extent, but a man doing everything deemed necessary for the sake of his sister and her life and welfare being basically told that was somehow a wrong or bad thing is where I draw the line and shatter the chalk.

In the end, all the characters have their own lives and motives, ideologies and philosophies, influenced by their education and upbringings, as well as life experiences up to now. Just like all people offscreen in the real world. Shuro has reason for his personal beliefs. But if there is one main villain here, one larger than any person or beast, it is mindless going along with submission to the taboo on black magic without regard for and taking into account the individual variables of each unique situation like the one here and everything pertaining to it. I admit that when the series first started there were a lot of complaints about this or that character being or doing something annoying or exhibiting some obnoxious trait, and I also said that some of Marcille's militant hyper-aversion to trying new, even strange or "taboo"-esque foods, was something that also annoyed me (mainly just in the first episode though where I felt it was more exaggerated and played up and harped on, partially comedically, but also probably done intentionally to establish defining character traits, going in strong and heavy). I can still be annoyed by that from time to time (not to say that it shouldn't be written that way if it's part of the character; we're not supposed to love or agree with everything every character ever thinks, says, or does).

But I've really come to appreciate her selflessness and loyalty. Allow her to be turned over to the elves of the West after she had saved your sister's life - After she had literally poured her own sweat and blood toward that effort, all for your sister's sake, laying down the gauntlet to any opposing higher regulatory powers or naysayers with all the bravery, resolve, and will that took? To fucking hell with that to infinity and back again. Glad to see some of our main characters at least retain enough backbone to stay true to their mission and not let it be derailed by drama. Endlessly submissive and wimpy main characters have their place, but watching them after a while can be an exercise in boundless frustration and pure masochism. It's a route I'm glad we avoided in this series.

Was not expecting this weird monster version of Falin to appear out of nowhere, not to mention the creepy harpies with exposed human tits lol. And along with her appearance came lots of deaths, some brutal ones in there too, it might not be a big deal as they can just be revived but it was still hard to watch characters we know just straight up dying on screen, I know it was all the side characters but still. And while all this happens monster Falin is making a mix of cute and ominous expressions, I liked the mix honestly as it increased the strangeness and made it and hard to read whether she was actually in there or not, I’m gonna assume no at the moment as they mentioned she was following orders

Thankfully she got out of there after Kabru stabbed all the typical vital points, but man what a massacre, although the comedy was still there at least during certain scenes, like when Falin stripped her shirt off lol. And afterward we got that good old fashioned fist fight between Shuro and Laios which was both kinda goofy and made for good development for the both of them, it quite literally knocked sense into them lol, and I also liked that after that intense situation the entire group was able to sit down and eat together, as this is still Dungeon Meshi. And with the other groups returning to the surface, it’s now just the OGs again, I was kinda hoping we’d see more of the super party but I’ll take more of the original lineup too.

This was probably the most tense episode to date...and with the most (temporary) death scenes at one time between two parties at 7 dead. Senshi not only survived, but didn't even drop the tray of food in the battle which had a bowl of soup--sasuga Senshi.

I'm surprised they kept the nipples in for the harpies. It's a very important detail faithful to the source material.

I'm glad Laios and Shuro got into a fistfight, although it started getting a little dirty with the hair-pulling...sometimes boys just need to get it out of their system to become bros again, as guys usually aren't the best at communicating with words.

Shuro saying he'll never step foot on the island again after returning to his homeland is a little depressing. I hope plans change with him and his party making more future appearances. Maybe one-half of the twin bell that Shuro gave Laios will play a big part in that.

Kabru getting flashbacks of 'nam from the thought of eating monsters, lol. He still annoys me with how he tries to for lack of a better term, manipulate people, where he pretends to be interested in monster food after being offered it, even considering briefly murdering Laios for a second.

Speaking of which, Kabru is the 2nd person (or 3rd if we count Shuro as well) to mull over the idea of what would happen after the possibility of Laios defeating the mad sorcerer, the first being the Orc chief. If anyone deserves to become King of the kingdom/Dungeon Lord, it's Laios...especially now that his party committed the taboo of black magic, he'll need some way to get around that together with Marcille who actually casted the black magic spell.

"Asebi" is still missing. I hope she comes back soon.

After listening to the 2nd cour ED, it's been really growing on me. I now think it suits the series more than the 1st one, as the smooth transition fits regardless of whether or not an episode ends on a somber note, or a happy one. Next week...no preview yet.

I loved how Kabru stood up for Laios at the beginning. I love how Maizuru told Marcille to heal everyone. I loved the fight between Falin and everyone!!! This show just gets better and better with each episode!

This episode was kinda meh. And Shuro was so overdue for some bitch slapping, what a pretentious self-righteous prick, he's such a shounen character ...
