There is pretty much nothing out yet, but i'll go ahead and assume it will at the very least get a decent budget.

I am optimistic.

Ok, this is definitely something new or "new..."

Gonna watch this one. Hopefully it's as good as The Sarah Connor Chronicles. It was such a shame when that show was cancelled.

Terminator, but as an anime series? Sounds interesting. I will definitely keep an eye on it.

I checked out after Terminator 3. The only way it would be interesting is if it had nothing to do with the Connor family.

I have zero interest in this. The terminator films are so overrated. First one was cool but 2 was corny as hell and 3 not even worth talking about. Plus it's just not a good fit for anime if you ask me.

Companies are seeing that franchises are flopping in Hollywood and are turning to anime to see if they can save them haha.
We're still going to see a lot of this in the future, I don't doubt that in a few years there will be an anime of Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Ninja Turtles, etc...

@Jonas-K Ninja Turtles exists, but it is the most disastrous franchise project

Release date: August 29, 2024

Plot synopsis:
2022: A future war has raged for decades between the few human survivors and an endless army of machines. 1997: The AI known as Skynet gained self-awareness and began its war against humanity.

Caught between the future and this past is a soldier sent back in time to change the fate of humanity. She arrives in 1997 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee who works to launch a new AI system designed to compete with Skynet’s impending attack on humanity. As Malcolm navigates the moral complexities of his creation, he’s hunted by an unrelenting assassin from the future, which forever alters the fate of his three children.

It sounds like more of the same to me.

I wish they would just let this franchise go.

The concept is just so quaint in 2024, now that we're already so close to the AI future that the 1984 and 1991 films could only wildly speculate on.

Also, it's strange that the rights holders and producers just refuse to give up on this franchise even after the many, many failures/lukewarm successes. Do they still think another entry has the potential to pop off?

@Old_School_Akira There's no problem with non-Japanese people working on a project, but if the decisive power over the project is outside Japan and its Asian neighbor countries, then chances are high MAL staff will deny it.

@Old_School_Akira And above even that, how in the living hell the concept of a "female mc" alone is political lmao

i understand the sentiment with media shoe-horning diversity for "political brownie points" but its just straight close-minded to automatically assume that's the case just because there's a female MC. there's been tons of cool female mc's before this whole "political movement."

Cool, lets wait and see if the mods are total dumbasses or not like they did with refusing to add the Scott Pilgrim anime while other anime list sites did solely on the grounds of the director being Spanish and the original creator of the comic being involved.

@Gintoki-34 Almost the same is the case with Scott Pilgrim Takes Off which got denied even though it was produced by Science Saru and directed by a guy who works for Science Saru. I hope MAL staff will approve Terminator Zero but it's not guaranteed.

@Zarutaku I remembered enjoying watching it. I wanted to update it on MAL, but I totally forgot. Now I can't even do that since it's not even on here.

@ZXEAN

The issue isn't the rule main tbh, the issue is the fact that they don't even follow their own rules.

The rules say, "if the studio is Japanese, and at least one creative leader is from a Japanese studio (writer, director, stuff like that), it will be included.

but do they follow it? hell no

The rick and morty anime is by a Japanese director, it's not here

So was Scott pilgrim, they are just pick and choosing based how they feel. For both of these their excuse was that "they weren't aimed at a Japanese audience" which is basically an escape goat rule. meaning it doesn't apply unless they are looking for an excuse to not add something.

There are plenty of anime on mal that were mainly aimed at the west, housing complex C and afro samurai released in dub before the sub!!! any sane person would see this rule for what it is. A loophole to give the mods the freedom not add anything that they don't want to add.

It's got a Western writer attached to it. I'd have far less reservations and doubts for this if the production staff was completely Japanese, but it is not. American writing in media has become irredeemably terrible over the last 10 or so years. I'm sick of perfect Mary Sue kweens and white men-only bad guys. Give me flawed and likeable women. Give me good white guys. Give me a black person whose story doesn't revolve around "muh wypipo bad".

@Zarutaku American writer, American production company. Production I.G outsourced to do the visuals so Netflix can claim its "anime", it absolutely doesn't belong here. This is no different than Rankin Bass having Topcraft do the art for the Hobbit/Return of the King and their Christmas specials in the 70's/80's

Production I.G? The dane studio, that made Ghost in the Shell? No wonder it looks so good. Just take the Netflix funding and don't let them anywhere near the production and we gonna have another succes like Cyberpunk Edgerunners.
