There's still a lot to be learned about the world car racing industry but hey, at least that commerical shooting went smoothly.

On the other hand, this episode still continues the ongoing competitive nature of sports racing out there on the tracks. Not much has changed in terms of style there. I just hope Kaoru can keep up with it.

Komaki Motors finally has its first sponsor, which gives hopes that winning a race will be as ever as close. But a commercial? Haruka needs to prep for that!

Turns out, Haruka's crying face got them the dibs, which contributed to new tyres, and with the commercial, Koya sits back at letting the professionals handle the job, from the photoshoot to the video interviews. It's the same for the high-flying Belsorriso team, though Satsuki got a lil' jealous over there.

Back to the faces, and Toshiki wants to be lead driver over Satsuki, but their game plan is instead have him be the latter's windbreaker for the first 20 mins so that Satsuki can pass over him. It's the same when he faces Haruka because he spoiled his racing plan the previous time around. All grievances settled on the racetrack, but that both Belsorriso drivers going head-to-tail to each other, and Haruka reaching them from behind. The thing is, Toshiki got too confident and slipped out of the racetrack allowing Haruka to catch up behind, while waiting for the slipstream to pass when the time is right.

The last time that Haruka had a podium, it's with his father, and 4th is a good personal best. Good job, Haruka.

So great to see Komaki motors finally get a sponsor that is willing to support them, The racing action in this episode was just superb and it's so great that they have managed to animate the racing so well

They're so young and hot blood, I just want everyone to win, but of course it's not possible, sports gotta have winner and loser after all. But since they're so hot, even if they don't make it to F3, they can make a living by modeling for CM, or do another kind of modeling...

I like how they explained team strategy and the term "second driver" in this episode, which gave birth to the infamous lines: "Valtteri, it's James" and "Fernando is faster than you"

As someone who follows F1 closely, and get a fair look inside the other series as well... I got in late, but I continue to be amazed by not just the overall high production value here (hell, we get multiple angles for a short bathroom scene and they're all incredible quality), but the actual attention to details as well. Quite literally everything's mind-blowingly accurate, from the car and garage/pit minutiae, to the camera angles and even sound effects during the race, that feeling of speed, the tactics and tricks, the struggles for money (because yes, while relatively "cheap", it still costs an awful lot of money), the potential in-fighting between two drivers of a team, that #1/#2 ranking that couldn't/shouldn't officially exist, the individual vs team interests - everything's done extremely well and so far it's been an absolute joy to watch. Even the way the outsiders get to learn things, not exposition for exposition's sake with the sort of "translator's note" style of explanations, but through the eyes of a complete newbie to the world of racing: a cliché perhaps, but it works very well here, what with all the fancy words and jargon. If they keep this up, Overtake! might just be a legit highlight of the season, even if it's kinda niche.

As an old fan of Initial D franchise, I'm surprisingly enjoying this one even more than the current MF Ghost.

The actual races with real competitors and a lot of rivalry in and out of the track makes it way more enjoyable than endless miles of track with nothing but "hype men" dialogues to pad out the courses. That, along with the buildup drama of the main cast in order to get them to have a track day with everything they need to be toe to toe with the other racers.

I'm really digging a lot the antagonism from Tokumaru and his tempest/glory hungry attitude. Even if this is a team oriented sport you can't help it when the support wingman feels like a second class citizen and does reckless stuff in order to claim the 1st place. I'm looking forward to see what will the team manager say about his recklessness on the track.

Episode 3 wasn't bad, as I said before, we're getting a bit more backstory with Asahina and his dad which also explains why he wanted to race in the first place. His crew is so supportive, ncluding Madoka, for finally helping him with a sponsor and get him in a commercial on top of that. I'm assuming will get to better understand why Tokumaru holds a grudge towards Asahina, even though Asahina has never won 1st place before.

Ah yes an episode where Rubens Barichello,Valtteri Bottas,Felipe Massa, and Sergio Perez can relate (or the whole Toyota Gazoo Racing wec squad)

When you're teammate us just plainly faster than you (like the one i mentioned above) you're going to play as the second fiddle especially if your team is a frontrunner. Overall in an alright episode, like how they explore the idea of the second driver

One of the plot points I wanted explored may finally happen, thank you writers for focusing on a potential deeper Tokumaru and Haruka plot, also for keeping the race clean, was afraid there'd be something to keep Haru from getting a clean finish.

Also having young inexperienced drivers is great considering the lesson to be learned in down force, tire maintenance and braking.

Although 4th place was a massive improvement for Haruka, he was still a few kilometers away from making the podium. Toshiki needs to chill out or he's going to lose his spot on the Belsorriso team.

Track of the ep - Twin Ring Motegi. I like the obvious rivalry between tokumaru and haruka. Also when they went into post-qualifying talking about their car setups, this felt like it was made for me.

also tokumaru seems to be a very aggressive driver this episode, given that he was losing his cool and kinda disobeying team orders it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up getting kicked off the team later on in the series

Best episode that I've watched for this series so far. I like how there is focus on several people/teams such as Haruka and his team, Koya, and the Belsorriso team drivers. I wasn't sure why no one wanted to tell Haruka how they got a sponsor until it was revealed that it was due to the crying pic lol.

The racing sequence was great and I was rooting for both Haruka and even Toshiki for a bit until I realized he was acting reckless. I wonder if Toshiki will face discipline by his own team for what he did.

I like it more than I thought. I don't think it was explained what qualifying is, btw how it's done, but it may have been explained in episode 1 or 2, don't remember, if it wasn't done then that would be fatal, it's an important thing. There were now and then terms such as "Blue Flag" which were also not explained in more detail, for me no problem, but for someone who has never watched any motorsport race/or for someone who is not too deep in to that pretty confusing.

Tokumaru is hating on Haruka for no reason. Don't project your own insecurities onto others, buddy. I'm pleased that Haruka defeated him.

Hopefully he’ll get a podium soon enough! Also, Kouya and Haruka are growing closer together.

A different route from what I had expected: Thought the ex wife would give a big push and then focus on getting the sponsors and having to deal with that. But (and I like this more!) this went a bit more slowly on this side. Just the one sponsor and the main having trouble with doing the commercials + some background/history with the 2nd driver from the other team. (That also gets more depth and char development with this. He also wants to win.)

That number two guy is so annoying, if he stays like that then he will never get first place. It's good to know Haruka is not a person who is easily affected by negative emotions.
