DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- This episode the sphere shaped objected crashed and in one of the most unlikely situations ever, saved Mayu from falling to her death. This was of course after Mayu endured the torture of a really evil headmistress and her crony. |

| Looks like it's true that Harlock gets good after ~20 episodes. Not that it's bad, but it is a bit slow. Poor Mayu. I hope that fat headmistress died after that crash, but I doubt it. She'll probably be around for a while, torturing poor Mayu again. |

| Aliens have wack technology it seems their bombs arent that strong. The weird thing about this anime is the "totalitarian regime" on earth doesn't seem very serious. If it was, Harlock would be a total idiot for leaving Mayu on earth. It's honestly surprising that they just dont take her hostage with a gun to her head telling Harlock to come since he's a criminal with death penalty over his name. |
| Most of the episode was too similar to the first one. The music was good, like in most classics from the 70s. I guess it was more difficult to cut corners then, since you either had to hire a real orchestra / band or rely on the synths that were more rudimentary than today. And once you are forced to hire a bunch of people instead of just a guy and his Korg, there's bound to be more focus on details instead of creating just a few loops to convey the mood. Some of the synth sound effects are funny though, one of the space ship sounds is like what is nowadays used as a rumbling stomach. |
| Meh. Still not bad, and that soundtrack still worked really well, but there still isn't much to keep me watching. I'll try to stick around until at least episode 5. |

| Mayu's father doesn't want her in space, but is Earth, in its current form, a good place for her? That sphere seems to have caused some major damage, but Mayu survived it. Harlock hates the fact that he could not stop the sphere. |

| Mayu is very cute, I love her already. I liked this episode more than the first one. It was also cool to show that Harlock can't save everything and everyone all the time. |
