This episode Daiba's dad is shot by a mazone and killed so he is then offered a chance to ride the Arcadia and fight back.

An okay episode, even if Daiba knowing about his father's death from halfway across the city is impossible.

I liked it, but the episode was weak.

Well, at least it was better than the first two episodes. Some logic holes definitely, but I'll keep it up.

Hopefully they explain why the aliens are burning after being shot. I'd love hearing some funny explanation.

Expected his dad to die the moment he took up that evidence.

Another great episode! Really interesting development and this sure reminded me of Uchuu Senkan Yamato's crew, especially Yuki and that robot!

All in all pretty decent development, I do wonder what happened to Maya though.

The robot definitely has some Yamato vibes.

Okay. I think I like this show now. Always great to see spaceships blasting off from earth (in shows and IRL), loved Starblazers for it and definitely loved it here. And as predictable as Daiba's father's death was, it at least got some really stylized animation and felt like the moment had some gravity to it.

I think there's also a certain level of dread that sets in when you know what's going to happen, at least it did for me, because 7 minutes into the episode I was debating adding Daiba's father to my favorite characters list. I was really excited to see where his character would go.

I'm also just going to assume that everyone in this show has magic-communicators and teleportation devices hidden in their fashionable trousers... [I saw the post on here about Daiba hearing his father dying from the other side of the city, but if you think about it, Daiba would have taken roughly the same amount of time to drive over as his dad... That means he got into a car about 5 minutes after his dad left. Guess that satellite looked after itself...]

Anyways, looking forward to watching more!

The scene in which professor Daiba was shot was visually very interesting. A good example of how expensive animation isn't necessary for the scene to be just as good or even better than those directed by modern standards.

It looks like the show is still introducing the characters and is taking its time to get to the plot.

If I were to apply the "Three episode rule" to this anime, it would only just barely would've passed. Good enough for some, but it's still not doing much for me.
Opinions are opinions, and differing opinions can co-exist. 🙂 But I don't do debate, life's too short to spend time debating people.

I had a feeling that Tadashi's father would die. Thankfully, Harlock arrived in time to save Tadashi.

Harlock wants Tadashi to join the Arcadia crew. He'll likely accept.

RIP profesor Daiva, and welcome Tadashi to the Arcadia. Now i know who Mime is. I was curious about her.
