THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Well they introduced the main characters but honestly, this felt rushed. Arisu learns a bit about the game that he takes part of although I can tell that he is still confused as hell. With all the fire, countdown, and chaos going on, I'd say that their world is like a living hell.

ED theme song is okay I guess.

Hm, the manga hasn't ended yet and they only cover 3 part of the game....

Still the story of "survival game" is pretty interesting on my book. Arisu looks like Touma from Index/Railgun franchise except he's taller...I'm not expecting anything from him tough.

That was actually interesting and now I'm curious about the manga.

So if they extended their stay for 3 days and they die after 3 days, what can they actually do to escape? I suppose the answer is "more games" but that wasn't really explained.

This OVA just screams "You should read the manga because this is going to be rushed as hell."

So far, not curious about the manga but may change my mind after watching the rest.

True.

It was surprisingly impressive in my opinion. It was just the kind of story I was looking for in a long time.

I hope we will get an explanation what to do to get out of the game.

I say this as someone who read a lot of survival game manga. This is one of the best out there and unrivaled in game design.

The manga got me hooked from the first pages but I'm curious about how they will expose all of the depth of the story in only 3 OVAs... Still gonna watch it but from the comments so far I'm afraid I'll be a bit disapointed. I hope I'm wrong ^^'

Edit : After watching it I was happily surprised to see they kept the OVA true to the story, every bit of the game is there. The voice acting is great, the animation is alright, not the best but it's okay. Obviously a few infos are missing like why the visas etc... but I think it's to try to get more people to read the manga (which i hope will hapen because it's an amazing story and mostly so they can make A REAL FULL SEASON ANIME!!)

the manga is more good, but anime is good so, the first game is just beginning, but for OVA i think the ending is alternative..

Very interesting.

It's just a 3 ova series so of course it's gonna feel rushed. The working of the whole system in Borderland was nice. They have to play games to continue to live here and each game being different.

I liked how Alice figures out how to complete the game using available clues. This "figuring things out through small clues" thing almost always gets me interested.

It has a lot of potential if given a full length tv series.

Just wish they would have started running before doing all the explanation though the others might not have believed him without a valid reason...

i've actually never heard of this manga and i just checked this out to give it a try. At first, the character animation had me laughing a bit cuz it feels so outdated but for some reason I continued watching. I didn't really get much out of this episode but i really like the tone in a lot of these scenes, it's pretty awesome. Judging from everyone's comments, I'll probably enjoy this a lot more by reading the manga.

sure, being able to survive while running through fire arrows....
also dying from a meteorite impact when your visa expires... ALRIGHTY
this is too absurd for me, even for a survival game...

I get that the main protagonist said 6.9 billion to lessen the difference (still a lot of flaming arrows), but couldn't he explain the plan first and give themselves a head start. I don't think there was any mentioning of a rule where you need to say the answer at a particular spot after getting the fortune slip.

Not a bad start with some interesting problems. Most things are explained well enough so I will just sit back and let the good times roll.....or the flaming arrows fall.

Now this is interesting..........has a compact setting with a supernatural feel. Also, if they knew the direction of the flaming arrows, shouldn't they find a cover first instead of running??( my gamer instincts are screaming)

I would love to have this in a longer show. Bit rushed, but can't help it.
I really love this and wish to see more such shows.

Rewatching this anime after many years.
It's good but cliché?
I've given it a 10/10 but I'm pretty sure I was young then & easily impressed haha.
I like the friendship between the boys. However, as another user stated, the dialog is shit
