Really liked the feeling of this episode. It captured nature pretty well as we see Ronja roam about freely in the wild. Anyways, it highlighted her independence quite a bit and I liked that.

It got a little dangerous a few parts but I think she can adapt. Another refreshing episode.

Ronja enjoying every little thing that nature has to offer ^^ Of course except for the Gray Dwarves.

From chasing a squarel to be hanging upside down on a tree! Her energy and curiosity :)

Liked how the two didn't understand Mattis question xD "I saw her in the morning!"

Oversleeping and getting surrounded by dangerous dwarves! Nice to see everyone going to rescue her.

Learning a lesson to be brave when facing challenges! Nice to see how at the end that the incident isn't affecting her love for nature by one bit!

Its a lot of fun to watch Ronja roam free like that. So athletic for a child too o_o. I wish I could climb trees like that. It was nice to see everyone coming to rescue her. Shows how close they are :)

didnt expect the dwarves to be like that.
"Urushibara Ruka. The mannerisms and voice of a woman... No... More feminine than any woman. But he's a guy. Taller than Mayuri, but so very thin... But he's a guy. Looks great in a miko outfit... But he's a guy. It's already twilight And yet, it's so hot. The cicadas are crying. But... He's a guy."

This episode exuded a great sense of adventure and wide eyed wonder. It was hard not to smile seeing Ronja running through the forest while giggling with excitement.

The grey dwarves were effectively creepy just like the harpies.

Also the sound design in this show is amazing. The sound of the wind, the flowing water, the insects and birds really brought the forest to life.

The background work, camera work, sound design, the facial animation, character animation and the overall atmosphere all have been great so far.

Ronja's VA must be tired from all the laughing she had to do in this episode. 1st half was basically Ronja exploring more into the forest and enjoying herself.
Gotta admit, those background animations are eye-candies! 10/10 material right there.

Them gray dwarves were annoyingly creepy. >.< One of them even startled me a bit when it jumped at Ronja!
Dad rescued her like a boss real dad would!

A bit of character development for Ronja toward the end of the episode, with her understanding the dangers of the forest and remembering her dad's advice while jumping from one rock to the next. Pretty nice stuff!

Slow but decent episode. Creepy harpies would appear again next week. >.< I hope Mattis would take care of them soon.

Wow for almost a third of the episode there was barely any dialogue! XD As how it should be since Ronja was just running around the forest and having fun. Felt like I was exploring the forest first hand too. Especially when she found the lake, that part felt mesmerizing. Nature in anime always looks so beautiful.

I knew the two watchers on the bridge didn't understand what Mattis was asking lol. Good thing Mattis had a feeling they didn't know either, and asked more specifically the second time.

The gray dwarves were not what I imagined they would look like, they're actually kind of cute size wise and don't look ugly, but I think they're super creepy because of they way they behave and whisper. Just holy crap.

Nice lesson of the week :) Mattis and Lovis are great parents. This is what good parenting is! They show that they care but don't baby Ronja. They aren't overprotective and tell her what she should do.

Keikaku doori, ha ha.

Grey dwarfs - check. Lesson learned.
NOT falling in the river - check. Lesson applied.

Life is simple, life is great.

The exploration part was a biiit stretched and Ronja laughing at everything was repetitive. Ronja whole-hardheartedly enjoyed it though and didn't cave in, because of some grey dwarfs trying to scare her.

Meets a boy, next, huh? :)

I want to be a kid again haha. Everything looked new and fun to Ronja: running around, watching her play by the water and climbing every damn thing she can climb...watching all those put a smile on my face.

The grey dwarves were creepy. Were they going to eat her O__o

"Careful not to fall into the river."
*Ronja proceeds to jump from one rock to the other at the river rapids*

If Mattis saw that, he'll probably die from a heart attack right then and there.

That was a little boring... Well, it's meant for children, I guess.
She was just laughing and giggling at everything. They really should ahve taken her outside the castle a bit earlier. Isn't it a bit weird to never let her out and then the first time let her go all alone?
Ans swim - in that river?!

The dwarves were creepier and more aggressive than I remember them from the movie.

I don't ubderstand score for this show.

I mean yeah CGI is not that good, but everything else feels, looks and sounds studio Ghibli. Loving it so far.

Okay, it's official—I love this show!

Love that the creatures are actually scary, just like they're supposed to be when you're kid. Also love all the characters, especially Mattis and Ronja. Love the scenery!

It's not often I pause a show just to see how much time is left for the reason I don't want it to end. Damn, that first double episode spoiled me. Can't wait till the next episode!

They are really doing a good job on the CGI so far but as always, the hand drawn environments can't be trumped.

I didn't even know what ghibli was. If they had used decent animation and art I would've rated it higher I loved the original(that was 10/10 imho)

Calls this show overrated and likes stuff such as bakemonogatari hmm
I see where you're coming from. The show is not for your liking, so go home.

This show is actually underrated.

Oh, its increasing popularity has nothing to do with it being a ghibli co-production, since most were turned off by the animation, including myself. Yet, it turned out to be quite good, full of movement and alive as animation should always be. Weird at times, sure, but probably the best full-3d-rendered anime i've seen in a tv series.

I hope there will be more anime like this one in the future.

I loved this episode. Ronja was a little cutie, running around exploring everything and seeing the big wide world for the first time. You just felt the sense of wonder with her and her sense of fear with the grey dwarves (which kind of remind me of Critters for some reason)

a solid episode even with the limited dialogue.

This really tickled my pickle~~~

Hearing Ronja's carefree and wholesome, honest laughter was such a good feeling. Medieval Slice-of-Life with Adventure, man it really feels great.

The water physics was absolutely atrocious. They didn't even bother to put ripples. That was truly eyecanceriffic.

Those grey dwarves were freaking CREEPY at first, since we didn't know what the heck they looked like, but they were also rather cute goddamnit.

I'm getting hooked.

Feels so goddamn Ni no Kuni.

Ranked #4119

Faggots don't know how to take a break from their faggot stuff.

This is really well done so far. The sounds lend so much to the ambiance and atmosphere of the series. Very slow paced, but not necessarily a bad thing.

This was really slow episode. I don't mind watching such ordinary stories but 25 minutes for what could be done in ten was simply too much.
I really hope they won't go with this pacing as I would die of boredom otherwise.
