Kimetsu no Yaiba Movie: Mugen Jou-hen

Quick review that is in fact not a review, more like me venting off a little steam. Please bear with me.

This movie definitely has ufotable quality, and the Zenitsu development was on point, I cried a little.

In general, the movie reminded me a lot of the Fate movies and Garden of Sinners series. It might have reminded me a bit too much of the later, in fact.

However, I feel like the whole plot in Kimetsu no Yaiba doesn't quite fit the vibe of the studio. I've felt that for a while already, just using the oportunity to say it again. The people working at ... ufotable are really talented and I hope KnY ends soon so they can focus on a project that is more their style.

They've been working on this series for almost a decade now and literally stopped doing anything else. I'm still waiting for the new fate series that supposedly would happen in USA and has been on hold for a while.

Great work nonetheless ufo, really. Keep it up.

And for the reader interested in whether the movie is worth or not your time. Well that depends on how valuable your time is, but if you're a run-of-the-mill person; it will probably be worth it.

A good movie, overall.

Beautiful animation and action marred by terrible pacing. The number of times they cut to a flashback during an action sequence was agitating me more and more as the movie went on. Also I don't understand why every demon needs a 40 minute sob story. Punchy guy's (can't remember his name because that is how uninteresting his story was to me) sob story was waaaaay too long.

Shinobu got done dirty. Zenitsu's fight was pretty cool. Giyu vs Punchy guy was well done. All these fights have multiple flashbacks interspersed throughout, annoying would be putting it mildly.

Maybe I'm just over the Demon Slayer formula or just ... prefer to watch on TV because I can skip all the frankly boring sob stories.

Watched this on release on cinemas in Japan. I cannot understand how this flashback tutorial has been top seller consistently for a month (I do, japanese normies).

While not being a dyhard fan of the manga, I'm saddened by Ufotable's decision to make 4/5 of the movie flashbacks. Furthermore, they're inserted at various moments during fights, which just completely breaks the flow of the movie and makes it absolutely dreadful to watch. In the manga it's not really a problem since you can basically speed read through them and get right back to the action. The story is not that deep, so it's a shame ... they've given this much emphasis to telling the stories of basically randoms.

Almost fell asleep watching it. At the current moment I think reading the manga is a better way to experience the story. Hopefully they fix this in the upcoming ones (they probably won't).
