Synopsis

Background

Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Break Time 2nd Season premiered on the Kadokawa Anime Channel on YouTube, where episodes were streamed for two weeks only. In the second half, Japanese television network AT-X also ran episodes of the short after broadcasted episodes of Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2nd Season Part 2 were complete.

Each episode of the second season of Re:Zero had a corresponding episode in this short chibi series. Essentially, these are short comedy skits with the characters in the chibi style, this is mainly done through Otto's diary as he is writing about the adventures.


Even though a lot of people may say the art style is too basic, it needs to be remembered that this is on purpose. Moreover, I would like to point out how clean and smooth the actual animations are - the art style itself is actually of a very impressive quality, even within such a simplistic form.

Normally I am not a fan of these chibi shorts that anime sometimes do. They usually involve comedy I don't find funny but are short enough to be inoffensive. this usually leads me to score them at around a 5.

The shorts this time around, however, are the opposite of what I expected sure they do have comedic elements but they also use them to flesh out characters from the episode the viewer has just watched and they pair really well with them.

I found myself looking forward to them after the episode rather than just putting up with them as I do with most ...

It wouldn't be a re:Zero season without one of these I guess, or should I say, it wouldn't be a popular TV series without one of these, period.

Seasonal fatigue is a real thing, and for completionists, it's even more so a curse in the form of a challenge.

“Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Break Time 2nd Season” is as its predecessor promised, Chibified commentary over the events of the corresponding season, although, this one spans both parts of season 2, so be careful about spoilers.
